Does Knut The Polar Bear Have Psychological Problems?!

Aww! We hope he's okay!

Scientists from PETA are claiming the world's most famous polar bear, our beloved Knut, is displaying psychological problems at his Berlin Zoo home!

According to Frank Albrecht, the polar bear "sways to and fro," suffers panic attacks, and even imitates people taking pictures of him with his polar bear paws!

However, the Berlin Zoo's Heiner Kloes says that PETA is being "ridiculous," and that "Knut is fine."

We certainly hope so!

We just love that furry guy so much!

What do U think?? Should Knut get some polar bear anxiety meds or is PETA just taking shiz too far once again?

He's probably going insane. Spending your whole like locked in a tiny cage..

For humans it's called prison, for animals it's called "entertainment".

    STUPID FUCKING ZOOS

  2. 2

He probably sways to and fro because his butt itches!

  3. 3

I think it's been proven time and time again that it's actually PETA that has the psychological problems.

  4. 4

    bar?

  5. 5

Well I like Peta. And yes, animals in zoos suffer and get depressive. Maybe they're better off than in circuses but they still are caged and bored.

Hey, isnt that Kelis' coat? :D

What exactly is a "Polar Bar"? Do you not proof read b4 you post? Funny as Hell though.
And it's sad that he's spent his life caged up…though he's prob. way better of there then in the wild now due to the environmental hazzards and he gets fed regularily.
I think zoo's need to be made larger so that these large animals have more room to roam and be more like they would in the wild. I dunno if that is possible but it would be great if it could be done.

  11. 11

Dr Cornwallis never takes shiz too far. He is wise beyond his years.

    Re: drakeshipway

you really don't know what is the purpose of a zoo don't you ???

a zoo not just protect endangered species, but also does a interchange program between zoos of the entire world giving people the opportunity of geting to know other animals and understang why they are so important to the world, and just for your information, most of the animals that live in zoos, were rescued from terrible places, and cannot return to the wild….so don't write stupidities about things that you clearly don't know a thing about it…

  14. 14

swaying back and forth is not a good sign!! poor thing. I hate zoo's also. Its sad. Some zoo's do rescue animals with problems like this.. sad

  15. 15

PETA also doesn't think people should have pets. So, I think PETA should STFU. They are the MOST USELESS GROUP NEXT TO SCIENTOLOGY!! Sh*t, Tom Cruise is probably going to sue me now…

  16. 16

Must be a slow day in celebrity gossip sphere if this is the best you could find to pilfer.

  17. 17

this is why we shouldnt have zoos or only keep animals in zoos for a certain period of time. Its just not right. Wild animals are meant to be in the WILD not caged up and of course animals can have psychological problems, they have feelings just like us!!! They are taken away from their families and they are used for entertainment. If a wild animal is injured and needs to be out of its habitat for a period of time, let them be in a place that is not around thousands of people staring at them and taking pictures with flashing lights. ITS FUCKED!!

  18. 18

    perhaps a 24 of bud?

  19. 19

PETA… the biggest waste of money, time and effort ever. Google PETA kills and get back at me when the koolaid wears off.

  20. 20

Re: fer cyccone – Zoos also 'harvest' animals from the wild. They may do a few good things, but 80% of their purpose is to make money by exploiting animals.

    21

Re: bluephoenix – buddy are you stupid? PETA condones having pets u fucktard. what they dont want is people buying from places like puppy mills. there are thousand of animals in shelters that need homes. thats what they advertise and support.

  22. 22

Re: cuhde – the head of peta is on record about pets. she tolerates it, but in a perfect peta world humans would not have pets.

  23. Allik says – reply to this

    23

obvi humans are not the only animals who get anxiety. it would be like saying humans are the only animals who feel happy or sad. This animal is living a very unnatural life.

  24. 24

    PETA is usually ricockulous

  25. 25

    Re: rosebud99
unfortunately, most of the zoos do that indeed('harvest' animals from the wild), but in the wild they might not live much longer, not with this crazy animal exploitation that devastes the world's fauna…

  26. 26

he's probably acting this way because he is a WILD animal that should be out in the wild unless the zoo can provide an area thats large enough, which they rarely do for any of their animals. I'm not like a crazy sensitive animal rights person, but they are obviously suffering from withdrawals of their natural habitats, which is pretty sad.

  27. 27

    Re: bluephoenix
    K. love your post that was just fukin funny!

  28. 28

LMFAO!!!!!!! Polar Bar????? You are a knut (play on words), Perez!

  29. 29

Yes, the person who said to google "PETA kills" is right…go do it people!
    .
Also, zoos have changed a lot over the last few decades. They used to be places for people to come and gawk at animals…the enclosures were often inadequate, and understanding of the animals needs was lacking.
    .
These days they don't just go out and capture animals…they take in injured animals…or those who could not survive in the wild for whatever reason…there has been massive overhauls of enclosures so that they meet the animals' natural needs (including for space)…they are involved in captive breeding programs for endangered/threatened species. Zoos have become centers of conservation - serving their animal charges rather than the people who come to see them. This is a giant change and one which should be applauded.
    .
Also, PETA are perpetually full of shit. And of course, they kill animals since they believe animals are better of dead than "captive" (which includes pet ownership, btw). Reasearch it folks.

  31. 31

"Those who danced were thought insane by those who could not hear the music"

Re: drakeshipway – ….well we could leave them in their habitat and let them all die. I mean being in a zoo isn't great, but starving to death on a iceberg 1,000 miles out to sea isn't exactly awesome for polar bears either….

  32. 32

Sounds like he is BI-POLAR to me…LMAO!!!!!!!!!

  33. 33

I think it's possible for animals to have mental disorders and quirks like humans, it's just not as obvious with them because they aren't verbal.

  34. 34

HE BELONGS IN THE WILD NOT A FUCKING ZOO LOCKED UP!!! I THINK ZOOKEEPERS AND ALL THE ASSHOLES THAT VISIT ZOOS SHOULD GET LOCKED UP FOR A YEAR TO SEE HOW CRAZY THEY GO!!

  35. 35

How the fuck do people know what a psychological profile of a bear is? Talk about projecting your problems onto animals.

  36. 36

    Re: CherylDiane
    LOL got that right. LOL

I just saw Knut 3 weeks ago and he seems like a perfectly happy polar bear :) He was sitting in the sun just hanging out, and he has a lady polar bear to hang with as well.

  38. imani says – reply to this

    38

Re: Harry Jenkins Fan Club – I am with you on your stance about zoos.
Re: LK333 – That 'lady polar bear' Giovanna is apparently related to Knut: they seem to share the same grandfather. Therefore, PETA demanded in February 2010 Knut should be castrated, to avoid inbreeding when the bears animal instincts would take over. Castrating Knut is very unlikely, as the zoo wants Knut to become a "sex tourist" (sic): they want to use him in breeding programs all over the world. And Giovanni is only temporarily staying at the Berlin Zoo: when her enclosure is ready in Munich she will go 'home', leaving Knut alone again, with his crown jewels intact.

  39. 39

Well PETA'd know, wouldn't they? Those people have up close and personal experience with mental problems - buncha nutcases. Hush up now.

  40. @v@ says – reply to this

    40

This behaviour IS considered neurotic for a polar bear. A major city where I lived had a bear who exhibited the same problems, and they went to great lengths to improve the quality of life, games, food, companionship and challenging activities for the lonely bear. Knut is NOT fine, in my opinion, and won't become fine as long as the zoo keeper displays this attitude. Help the damn bear.

  41. 41

Knut is going nuts because he doesn't belong in a fucking zoo! he is polar bear and belongs in the wild. zoo's should all be closed. they are the concentration camps for animals. disgusting.

  42. 42

Stop feeding the bear POT you bored zoo keepers.

  43. 43

It has nothing to do with liking PETA or not. The fact the this polar bear sways to and fro clearly means he's not doing as well as people from the zoo would like us to believe. Not all animals in zoos suffer, but common sense tells us it's not where they should be. We, as human have a responsibility to everything living and I should hope we won't all do like the ostrich do and put our collective heads in the sand! To respect life is to respect animals.

  44. 44

Last I checked, PETA was not an expert animal behaviorist organization.

  45. 45

    poor fucking bear.

wild animals shouldn't be kept in captivity for our amusements.

breeding programs and injured animals only. who are we to make them dance?
