Less Guido Talk On The Jersey Shore! (Maybe)

Someone made MTV an offer they couldn't refuse.
All last year, Italian residents in New Jersey were furious at Snooki & Co. for their portrayal of Italian culture on The Jersey Shore.
Sometimes, the truth is uncomfy!
Many guido groups and members of the Jersey community came forward to express their displeasure (put lightly) with the show's content and bombarded MTV with complaints. Well, one of those complaints must been delivered with a fish wrapped in newspaper because the execs at the network have assured haters that this season will have much fewer Italian references.
Well, yeah! They're going to be in Miami for the most part! Not too many guidos down there!
Still, Andre DiMino, national president of UNICO, met with officials of MTV's parent company, Viacom Inc., and execs promised him they'd cut down the references to Italians, but only to an extent. A spokeswoman for MTV said:
"However, our role is to document the cast, and however they refer to themselves we don't interfere."
Alright, fair enough we think.
The cast returns to the trashy beaches of Seaside Heights next month to start finishing out the season.
Are U excited to have more fist-pumping in your life again?

"Sometimes, the truth is uncomfy!" The meth head Pedo sure knows how true that is! I just pray your ghost writing sister goes to jail with you! I can see why your father left your ugly ass mom!
Thanks for continuing to stereotype Italian Americans. Not all Italians are like the trash that MTV portrays as "Italian". I am Italian American from New Jersey (very proud of that fact), I am college educated and working towards a Masters in journalism. My one grandfather was a dentist, and all three of his children went to college. However, we still embrace the fact we are Italian. If you want to trash different groups, why not trash your own groups? Please stop posting garbage up about how Italians are all "guidos" or mafia members.
Half of them aren't even freaking Italian.
i think they have free speech and if they wanna say they are "guidos" then they should be able to…. i mean some black people call themselves ghetto but it doesnt mean all black people are…some white people call themselves white trash but it doesnt mean all white people are…. sooooooo get over it people.
why the hell is angelina still with the cast…she only jumped back on the tv train due to its huge success. glad she is a fail.
I, too, am Italian and from New Jersey. I, nor anyone in my extended family, is a "guido", we do not have fake oranges tans and are all well-educated. Also, as for calling Seaside Beaches trashy- have you ever even been there? If not, then you can't judge them so shut up!
I'm setting the dvr. Thank god they'll be in Miami. You can drink at 10am in Miami and the other alcoholics don't think a thing about it.
how dumb are you to say shizz against the Italians, you like to live dangerously dont you?
I am Italian and from new Jersey. My Dad was Italain born and raised in the bronx. No one in my family even slightly resembles anyone in this cast with the exception of the love of cooking and eating big family meals. But even so I find them hillarius to watch. This show really is my guilty pleasure =)
Oh FML. I thought they were done filming for the season. Well I guess I wont be going to Island Beach State park this summer…. all their retard fans will be clogging up the streets.
You know, I really liked you Perez. I really stuck up for you and thought you were great. But I HATE how you deal with the controversy over Jersey Shore. You always make it seem like we as Italians are being crazy getting offended by this and thinking this is stereotyping us. But then you turn around and prove our paranoia correct by saying shit like this! You're being a hypocrite! If this was a show about Hispanics and THEIR untrue stereotypes, I bet you wouldn't be so glib about the whole thing. Stop being an douche, Perez.
Ummm in answer to you question…that would be a definate NO!!! See I have a brain, and stupid people, very stupid people who have no hope of succeeding in life, are just not something I would waste my time. They all need to go back to school. Their stupidity is so prominent, it's not even funny. Bad, just bad!!!!
"Sometimes the truth is uncomfy?" Wtf are you kidding? I hate when people of minority groups act like dumb ass hypocrites. Stereotypical much? Do you seriously believe all Italian Americans act like that?!
Start supporting equality for ALL, not just the LGBT community!
how are you going to call seaside trashy? if you know anything, you would know how bad the garden state parkway gets jammed from all the bennies coming from new york every friday afternoon during the summer. if seaside is trashy, it's not jersey made. secondly, they admitted they are not all full blood italian. and third, why does the "situation" now say he's from new york? um, manalapan, new jersey is calling, they want his diploma back.
Why was my last comment censored? Le sigh. It still positively breas my heart that someone with influence on so MANY people would make prejudiced, ignorant and often abusive attacks on another minority. You fight so hard to be treated right as a Latino and protect the LBGT community so vehemently, but it's ok to say "guido groups" and "fish wrapped in newspaper" without caring about how you're hurting all Italians, even the fake ones who embrace these insane stereotypes in perpetuity and with no remorse. How can you not see the parallels between the N or F word and your own slurs?
"The trashy beaches of Seaside Heights" ——The beaches of Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, and Island Beach State Park are not trashy…the people who visit them are. Anyone from Toms River and surrounding areas have to go during non-peak times to be able to enjoy themselves. MTV has created a mess in Seaside by attracting disgusting excuses of human beings by taping shows like "Summer Beach House of '98 or whenever that was" and "The Jersey Shore". My poor grandparents went to walk on the boardwalk over the weekend and had to pay $30 to park in a lot and got bombarded by people PAYING to view the Jersey Shore house. SHAME ON MTV..no wonder why their ratings are plummeting. Bennies go home..and it's not called "the shore" it's "the beach". Exit 82A forever
Sometimes the truth is uncomfy? Okay first off, UNCOMFY ISN'T A WORD. Secondly, I would NOT be saying anything unflattering against Italian Americans. We are NOT like the people on Jersey shore, that is like a different breed of Italian. Please, get a little culture.
OMG! Most ppl who live here know you can't generalize minorities. Even though most do. Really, all Italians aren't like that….NO SHIT! I think the show is effing hilarious!
I can hear my GrandPop (born in Italy) rolling in his grave and I need to chime in here. There are NO hyphens on US citizenship. It makes me sick to see people say: Oh I'm Italian when they clearly were born and raised here in the US. You know damn well that your uncles and fathers and grandfathers were sent to defend the US many times since our families came here.
Yes, we do the enormous meals and the jokes, we make wine, we're loud, we all look alike. We may or may not have a few of the young ones who could be construed as guidos but none of them would dare to identify themselves as anything but American. And by the way - 'Famiglia (what you idiots call the Mob) was NEVER EVER allowed to be mentioned in any way in our household. I've still never seen a Mafia movie and have no interest in doing so. Sorry - had to vent….GrandPop's All-American Girl
Perez, I have never written a comment or made a username until now but i think what you have written about the truth being uncomfortable goes agaisnt everything you stand for with not sterotypeing and how we should all be for acceptance. You want everyone to embrace the gay commmunity but you feel as if you, yourself can make remarks about an entire state. I am also an itialian american from New Jersey, who is now atttending law school in LA and i read your page about 5 x a day and speak extremely highly of you and your thought but the post above really make me question if you are non-bias when it come to people…………..Tolerance and understanding is for all people and I would hope that after reading the other posts, you see how much, you affended your own loyal readers……I am absolutly saddened by the comments that you made and I would hope that in the future you are more respectful towards all people.
"Sometimes the truth is uncomfy"????????????????????? F*****u Perez!!
Not all of NJ is Italian, and not all of NJ Italians are like these losers, and like all the other sleazy NJ shows showing up lately!!
Come spend some time in the state before you stereotype us and make the rest of the world believe it!!!!
After reading all your comments, I'm kind of ashamed to be Italian. Seriously, people? If this show offends you, you need to get a reality check. IT'S JUST A SHOW! Everyone who watches it knows that these people are huge jokes. I haven't heard of one single person who watches the Jersey Shore and takes these people seriously. It's entertainment - NOT REAL!
I'm a smart, college educated Italian, and I love the Jersey Shore. Burn me at the stake!
Right there with ya andreeuh_j…I'm Italian and don't really give a shit about the supposed negative sterotypes. I watch and laugh along with everyone else - how can you NOT laugh at these jokers. It's supposed to be ridiculous and it's all for entertainment. Two or three of them aren't even Italian anyway.
I've never bothered to watch that show, but a female celeb whom I like and whom I chat with was bitching energetically recently (but not to the press) about the jersey shows, upset about how they apparently depict places that she loves in a false and ugly light. And my uncle is in Jersey right now, even as we speak, attending some wedding of his wife's nephew. He was super excited about it, for some reason. In fact, he was more excited about going there than he was about going to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria a few weeks ago. I guess that's the power of television and of publicity! Even if the P.R. is misleading!
I'm Cuban, grew up in New Jersey, and loved going down the shore. For you to call our beaches trash is crap. You've never been there and have no clue what it's like. As far as the "guido" thing, I have a lot of Italian friends and I can tell you they don't act or look like that. Italians are loud just like Cubans and there's nothing wrong with that. Perhaps you need to come visit our beautiful state and see for yourself what life in NJ is really like. By the way, for those people who think Newark Airport is what NJ is like, they are sorely mistaken. It's a beautiful state and we have more to offer than any other state!
hell yes i love me some jersey shore!!!
I guess when it's Italian American's that are being stereotyped and made fun of by people who are NOT Italian American it's ok, yet, do the same for the black or hispanic cultures and everyone steps forward to say how wrong it is. I guess Italian American's are second class citizens all over again in this country… but who would really remember that since any history that like that is just swept under the rug because who really cares about any hardships any Europeans may have had coming into this country.
There is a BIG difference between Northern New Jersey and Southern New Jersey. Northern New Jersey is more industrial and yeah the beaches are not as nice as the Southern New Jersey beaches. Many of the people on this TV show are not even from the area they beach at and are not full blooded Italians. And that is nothing to be ashamed of and a friend of mine lives in North Jersey and he is half Lebonese and Italian and he looks just like many of the cast members of this TV show. Italian Americans are not all full blooded as a popular mix of Italians are German/Italian, Irish/Italian, Polish/Italian, English/Italian, Scottish/Italian, French/Italian and these combinations were more popular of Immigrants coming from Italy to America through the 1880's to the 1960's. In recent decades the later Immigrants were from other places like Lebonon. The jet black hair TV cast members are indicative of the Lebonon/Italian and Iranian/Italian.
Perez, I love you, but have you ever heard of revision?
And by the way, it is not the truth. I live on the Jersey shore, and I don't know anyone like that.
The only Guidos I see are the BENNYS
Definition of a "BENNY"
1. A resident of New York or Northern New Jersey who comes to the Jersey shore in the summer time to drive like an asshole, litter on our beaches, and crowd our hot spots from Memorial Day to Labor day.
BENNYS GO HOME!
