Snoop Dogg Shocked That He Was Banned From Netherlands Music Festival
Snoop Dogg's reps are saying that he was "astonished" after he found out he was dropped from the Parkpop festival in The Netherlands.
The festival's organizers claimed that they were looking for an act that would match the "open and friendly character" of the concert and apparently, Snoop didn't make the grade!
His management however, is saying that Snoop Dogg has played these festivals many times before and they're shocked that he was banned. In a statement, his manager wrote:
"Snoop Dogg is astonished by the decision of the Mayor of The Hague, a town in the south of Holland, to not allow him to perform at the free festival, Parkpop. There’s been much speculation that, given the enormous response by Snoop’s fans to the free festival, the local authorities would not be able to provide sufficient security. Mojo, the largest concert promoter in Holland says, 'We have never had any issues with Snoop, who has played magnificent shows at many of the festivals we promote such as Lowlands, North Sea Jazz and at several other promoted shows by Mojo.' Snoop is a mainstay at music festivals all over the world and has performed at all of these without incident."
Hmm, guess Snoop better hide ganja!

Anyhoo, they banned him because a while ago we had another free festival in Rotterdam, and it got enterily out of hand - huge riots etc - and someone actually died. They are afraid of repeats and don't want a kind of crowd that could cause that. Several free festivals like the dance parade have even been cancelled due to this fear. It's also completely the decision of the Hague itself, the concert organisers are kind of pissed that they had to cancel him.
Drugs is allowed, but nog legal. Still, he'd have no problem smoking weet here if he wanted too. So that's just BS. He's instead performing in 2 different venues through the country at the same date, so he's still coming to the Netherlands, just now for paying gigs. Get your facts straight for once.
And it IS A CITY..
it's not the festival promoter that didn't want snoop to come, it was the local government and police
There has been some problems with security before in the Netherlands during big festivals. It was so bad, guns were fired, one guy even died. So I don't blame them for doing this. Do I think it's a bit drastic? Yes. But I do think it's important to not repeat last time.
Oh and The Heague is in the west of The Netherlands, not south.
it's kind of funny to see how little facts/details perez hilton actually provides in his news clippings. If this is the average accuracy he gives on all of his reports, they should shut this website down. It was not the decision of the organization to cancel Snoop's performance, it was the city council. They would have revoked the permit for the whole festival if they did not cancel Snoop's performance as it was the city council that felt the performance would jeopardize the safety of the visitors.

I saw Snoop a long time ago at Lollapalooza and he's totally upbeat and fun, did a very "let's all party" kind of set, so I have no idea why he would get banned.

Snoop is banned because they were afraid that hooligans from Fc The Hague and Feyenoord were going to make some trouble on the festival. Cause Snoop once had been photographed wearing an Ajax T-Shirt. That's why he wasn't welcome. But he's welcome in Holland apart from that! He's coming to Groningen soon. Groningen is a way better city than Amsterdam or The Hague.
