Gay Rights Activists Protest G20

As the G20 (a group of 20 wealthy, developing countries) gather in Toronto this weekend, activists came together to bring attention to rights of all minority populations discriminated against because of their gender, sexuality or socioeconomic status.
And we're sure it doesn't help that Canada is spending $980 million on security for two international summits this week.
One protester went so far as to don a papier-mache head of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper along with tights and stilettos.
You go, girl. Equality for all!

What type of rights are you looking for Perez?
Developed!!! Countries, not "developing countries"
Maybe Stephen Harper isn't the right target, since here in Canada, we do have a lot better record with gay rights. Just sayin…
Don't get me wrong, gay rights are a huge deal and definately one worth fighting for, but with that being said, I don't think that laughing at the cost that their security came to, is remotely humorous.
I don't see you posting anything about the numerous bomb threats and fires being started. Did you know that there are groups of young adults and students (as young as 16) attending?
So you are blaming some one for wanting security to ensure every one is safe. Just goes to show how demented the gay way of thinking is FatBoy
If FatBoy tries to block your cookies so you cant post, just restart your PC

HA HA Lady CaCa told FatBoy not to mention her on his shit blog any more .
Go to prison pedophile. Your fat ass aint out of the woods yet.
Re Games4Stress
Thanks for acknowledging my fine work. I was just about to call it a day and stop posting. But thank you for recharging my battery. So do you belong to the same chapter of M.A.M.B.L.A. as FatBoy???
Oh that looks like a really big crowd of nit-wits LOL
i dont know whats worse..that the G20 came to toronto…or that perez did.
why Toronto wanted to host this is beyond me. with the bomb threats & shootings that have already happened…this is gunna be a looooong week for toronto & huntsville.
There was just an earthquake in Ontario and other parts of the states. 5.5. maybe it caused some of these queers to fall down.
What a bunch of FREAKS!
What exactly are they protesting? Gays have the same rights as heterosexuals in Canada. They can marry, they are free to love whomever they wish to love. Sure they still face prejudice, but that's people in general, the government doesn't discriminate against gays.
yay lol
The police would have tasered them, but refrained, due to the fact that these cretins would have enjoyed it.
Re: hcanadah – You're wasting your breath. Perez knows nothing of the actual causes, issues or anything remotely important about world events. He only posts things that have some thin reference to gays, or posts people acting like idiots like the moron in the pic wearing the mask, and completely ignored what the story is actually about. He doesn't have the brain power to understand or appreciate your post. he also lacks the intelligence to know that if anyone actually wants to change policy, influence government and further gay rights, they need to put on a suit, go to the seat of power and lobby with actual intelligent argument on a platform of economic and social change. Dressing up in drag, screaming "I'm here, I'm queer" or insulting government officials with stupid masks only sets our cause back and makes us all look like prancing fools. It's no wonder we can't make progress with jackoffs like Perez dragging us all down.
Harper is the wrong target, Canada has better than most rights for everyone!!!
um, gay people have equal rights in Canada soooo… i dont get it….
FYI: You can marry whomever you want in Canada. The paper-mache should be any of the American fear mongers. We don't discriminate. We also celebrate our multiculturalism and when oil spills, we actually have a plan and people standing by to clean it up. Oh, and we have the cash to pay for good security because our country didn't fold during the bank crisis. We had it under control because we don't let the greedy few call the shots. It's a great place where you can be who you are and voice your opinion without fear of being shot or ridiculed.
You can hate, but when you suck your country dry, you'll be running North bitches.
It's the same bunch of losers who attended Pumpkinhead's MMVA after-party.
Please stick to what you suck less at… posting shit about celebrities. Everytime you try to act remotely intelligent you look like a bigger idiot. Canada has equal rights.
There is so much stupid in this post, I don't even know where to start.
I was ready to get heated, but everybody else has pretty much covered it for me, so I will just bow out of this one!
Perez, at least TRY to know something about the world. Canada has full gay rights including marriage.
wow… shows how much canadians know what's REALLY going on!
if you all actually READ up on what went down this is what you would find:
"They sang a song called "Harper Don't Preach" to the tune of the Madonna hit "Papa Don't Preach."
"Harper, we are angry and upset. We want choice for women everywhere. And you should know by now. That we don't mean maybe," the song began.
"Harper, don't try to dictate what's right and wrong. And where the hell has all the funding gone? Women are experts and we know what we're saying."
The song took aim at Harper's maternal health initiative, which doesn't include abortion, that will be presented at G8 summit Friday in Huntsville, Ont.
The song also criticizes Conservative government funding cuts to women's groups. " - cp24.com
so no, the gays don't only parade around for THEIR rights, but for WOMEN'S rights as well. also the head was hillarious! great idea on their behalf!
The gays were not protesting about Canada's gay rights, but rather the lack off rights in some of the 20 developed countries that are attending.
In order to educate those who are willing….
1st, Toronto never asked to host the summit…it was forced upon us by a yucky prime minister.
2nd, the mass hysteria about "anarchists, and violent protesters" is taking away from the real protest here…that being that people have a right to voice their opinions about countries/corporations forcing their business plan onto silenced citizens.
3rd, queers make the best protestors…they are colourful and pro-love (meaning anti-violent)
Re: Cashmere Jay – I think more people attended this event that pig boy's party…
It's developed, not developing. And a majority of the nations in the G20 are not that wealthy at the moment. Most of them are in debt. A better way to describe the G20 would be to say: the top 19 countries (plus the EU) with the biggest economies and highest GDP.
Just like every little thing offends you, Perez, using "developing" offends those who honestly do live in developing countries. Use your brain. I know you went to school for acting, or whatever the hell you studied, but pretend to know more than you actually do. I enjoy your posts on most things, but when you post on politics, global issues, or any current event that isn't celebrity-related, you sound like a dumb ass. I would find someone smart (probably doesn't live in LA) to help you with these types of issues. Developed nations, not developing. Big fucking difference.
They're not protesting for equal rights for gays in Canada necessarily. There are gay people in other parts of the world you know. Some of those countries will lock a person up for life if there's even just a rumour that they are gay. We people in the more open-minded and free countries need to stand up for them because who else can? It also says they are protesting against sexism and the way poor people are treated around the world, not just homophobia. Are you really saying that nobody should stand up for the young girls in Iraq who have acid thrown on their faces just for trying to go to school, or the girls in Africa who's parents have their clitoris banged off with a ROCK? Idiots! It's sooooo easy for us in Canada and the U.S. to forget how good we really do have it. We should all always stand up for human rights around the world, not just in our own backyard.
980 millions? try 2 billion dollars! that money could be spent in more productive ways. Toronto got robbed.
Re: Ms. B Nice –
exactly! also the only ones not bothered by the g20 is non-torontonians ’cause they can't even begin to understand what this is doing to us!! ugh, harper…
Tyler Van, it is DEVELOPING countries.
GEEZ, it is DEVELOPING COUNTRIES - NOT DEVELOPED. Perez is right - Economics Major.
Re: likethepear –
UH, Iraq has nothing to do with the G20 conference. Do you think Iraq is on the list of the most developed countries in the world?
Yikes. And for whoever said that these protesters aren't violent is tripping. Every year the G20 protesters destroy property, engage police officers in violence…it's one of the most violent and out of control protests every year. Of course there's such thing as peaceful gay rights protesters, but the G20 summit brings out the loons.
This shows exactly the mentality of activists. Canada is known for it's freedoms and it's gay rights/gay marriage. These asswipes are not getting any sympathy from the public and you have absolutely no idea what's going on beyond your local bath house.
I love Canada! Harper is laughable…that costume is great!!
Screw the security costs…what's up with the multi-million plastic lake they built????
Let's not forget about
- the enviornmental issues Harper has been skipping over.
&&
- The HST tax
I have a feeling his ass is gunna get roasted at this summit!!!
However, I'll give it to him for preventing that awful world Bank tax idea.
Oh, Canadian politics….snnoooozzzzeeeeee
That's "developed countries" you fucking ignoramus. Do you even know what it means? You really should stay away from real news; all you ever do is make a fucking ass out of yourself.
why do gay people continue to make idiots of themselves?
jesus christ, when is danielle staub going to quit it with the plastic surgery?!
Stop talking about my country when you know nothing about it, those 20 people are all hippies now shut up
Canada's gays fare really well legislatively, comparatively.
and afterwards they're all going to a Lady Gaga concert after a hard day of communism (since Communist are the main people who protest the G20).
How can these idiots expect to be taken seriously when they dress and look like a bunch of morons! Idiots!
WTF!?Re: phoenix3 – I love the USA even tho we have a lot of faults. I do not live in fear and I'm free to do what ever I want. I would never ever move to the great white dump up north you call a country (canada). You are an ignorant, arrogant piece of shit. rucka rucka ali- " canada is kind of cold, a bomb could be kind of nice".
Re: SassySadie – Yall can dish it out but can't take it. when people make fun of our country we don't give a shit, we laugh at ourselves. Learn to take it you little bitch's.
Stupid. In most of these 20 countries gays have equal rights. I don't know what they're all about. Go to work or something.
gays in canada have equal rights, toronto pride is starting this friday so those lovely gays will be out on the town and i honestly think that they are being drama queens (har har) because pride isn't going to get any publicity this year with the G20 going on.
Re: canadaeurotrash –
*You DO give a shit otherwise you wouldn't be on here bashing Canada. PLEASE I beg you PLEASE do not move to Canada. We don't need trash like you in our beautiful country. We don't want to dim our country down with your idiocy.
*
You show your true stupidity in the posts you write. Shame. I feel extremely sorry for the Americans that have to live with you.
Re: canadaeurotrash – P.S your name shows the level of your intelligence. ZILCH.
Canada definitely does not have to worry about equal rights. Done.
Re: canadaeurotrash –
Thanks for proving my point…
me: "It's a great place where you can be who you are and voice your opinion without fear of being shot or ridiculed."
you: "You are an ignorant, arrogant piece of shit. rucka rucka ali- " canada is kind of cold, a bomb could be kind of nice".
Classy…bwahahahahahaha
Re: coolkidzftw – Right on!
To be clear, they spent 20 million on security. And yes, gay couples have the right to be married in Canada. Get your facts right perez.
Canada is by far more progressive when it comes to any form of minority rights than any other country. Homosexuals have been given the right to have civil unions here, we treat our visible minorities far better than any other country- so aside from wasting over 1 billion CND, and not having the balls to leave the US to handle their own mess in Afghanistan I really have no idea why people are attacking Harper.
Protesters are such a pain the ass- MY CITY BETTER BE AS PRETTY WHEN YOU PEOPLE GO HOME!
i died a little inside when i read that security for this bull shit was $980 million. what a fucking waste of $.
Re: canadaeurotrash – Lol. You're so stereotypical it's amazing. You right wing conservative types like to believe so critically in "patriotism" but essentially all that creates is ignorance. People like you are so ignorant to the world around them - even yours. You spend your life with your eyes closed and ears plugged shouting "lalalalalala" because you dont want to pull your head out of your ass and realize HOW fucked up the state of your nation really is. I do not sit here on a high horse and preach that Canada is the best, and only nation in the world - but atleast I can proudly live in a nation that truly believes in equality and fair rights for all. In Canada we do not believe in America's "melting pot" mentality, instead we embrace our fellow country men and celebrate the different cultures and nationalities that make Canada what it is. If you "dont want to come to our country" thats fine, but atleast educate yourself before you start argue that the United States is the "freedom capital of the universe".
Anyways. I apologize if I have offended anyone, I have nothing but love and respect for the general people of America (the blue states), but there are unfortunately some people who don't have a clue.
What a load of shit!!!! All pissed off because Canada can't afford to foot the bill for the gay pride parades. Assholes like this are the reason we have to spend so much on security. Ungrateful idiots, where else in the world are gays afforded so many rights? I know some of the G20 countries aren't so liberal but if that's the case demonstrate there and stop making Canadians pay security costs we shouldn't need to. Go across the border and demonstrate there where they still can't get married in several States and leave Canada the fuck alone!!!!
eh..fighting for what rights? They have the same as heterosexuals..
you are so fucking Stupid, these G20 "activists" are basically Communists, equal rights my ass
God look at these people they all look so in dire need of a shower! disgusting! peeewww you just know they smell by looking at them
Yes, Canadian's have the equal rights, but since the majority of visiting countries do not, I believe the protest is valid. Just please don't trash our city…
Re: Ellie9 – don't say OUR visible minorities, please refrain from possessive pronouns in that context. it's just gets offensive.
Re: TylerVan – Exactly.
lol @ idiots talking about 'hysteria' about security. Turn on the news and watch how peaceful some of these anarchist 'protesters' are being, then come back and talk about it.
Incidentally, the fact that gay rights are being given so much importance by Perez should tell all of you where his priorities are. Far more weighty issues are being talked about at these summits. These activists chose the wrong event all together to complain about this issue.
