Weird Al To Take On…

Weird Al Yankovic has nine songs ready on his next album and has just three more to go — but apparently with the rise of YouTube it's getting harder for Al to get his shiz together!.

He explains:

"Because of portals like that, I will never again be the only or the first person to parody any given pop song. By the time I'm in the studio recording my parody, 10,000 parodies of that song are on YouTube. It makes it harder to be fresh and unique. It's frustrating, but it does help me step up my game. If I can't be the first and only, I can be the best."

He might be parodying Lady GaGa, too but he said "I don't want to give anything away."

Weird Al has also written a children's book When I Grow Up that's due out in March! He says: "It needs to pass through committees and everything. But I enjoyed doing that, and I'll probably be doing more down the line."

Will U be buying Weird Al's next album?

    The world needs laughter!

Are you required to plug GaGa in every single post or does her label make you meet a daily quota? Al himself has and will be around longer than her, can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

  3. 3

    he's squatting on a stanchion pole…lol.

  4. 4

It appears Al has squatted on a large red pole and impaled his ass!
    That looks fuckin' painful!

Oh hell yes! Parodies may be a dime a dozen on Youtube, but Weird Al is the original maker of parodies and will always be the best at what he does. I cannot wait to hear his new album!!

  11. 11

I think he's hilarious, and not all the parodies on youtube are even funny. I'd probably test out his album, and see if I like it then possibly buy it.

  12. 12

Weird Al is indeed a genius! His Trapped in the Drive-Thru on youtube is brilliant!

  13. 13

MORE MORE MORE Weird Al!! The world needs him!! :)

  14. 14

Hell Ya, Met Al a few years back just walking through our downtown area. He is a really cool person. CANADA Loves Weird Al ! " Just Eat it! "

  15. 15

Yay!! He is so funny its about time, im pretty sure he's gonna be a big hit cuz there is so many damn songs nowadays that he could parody!! Can't wait!!

  16. 16

Who cares if there will be 10,000 parodies on YouTube of the same song he is parodying (if thats a word). He's the most faous, most popular, and most original of any of them. I just saw him in concert at his first tour stop for the year. He was great! what an entertainer. What I like is that he doesn't just sing the song, but he dresses and acts like the original song's video and thats what makes it so entertaining!

Is there seriously a fraction of the human race who actually finds "Weird Al" still relevant?? Seriously….if I really put my mind to it I could make an irreverent song parody out of a fucking Saigon Kick album.

    Get real.

The industry's sea change has affected Al for sure. I could see him touring doing comedy in venues and including his excellent parodys within his comedic material, similar to Andre-Philippe Gagnon, who packs auditoriums. The money's great there. If he played in my city, I'd definitely go. His name is well known, and so is what he does.

  19. 19

Love him! He's made of awesome.

  20. 20

He looks like a paler and skinnier version of HOWARD STERN, in that pic!
