Why not call it what it is…a hate crime that happened to take place in Houston? Yes it sucks…but to address Texas and not the a-hole who committed the crime is just ignorant.

I agree that the attack isn't cool but why must you indict an entire city or state by the actions of one individual? Maybe the attacker was an illegal alien or a closeted gay. Stop attacking Houston and Texas. Sheesh, Houston is hardly a mecca for queer bashers. Our lesbian mayor is leading our gay pride parade this weekend, and that was with the majority vote of this awesome, accepting city. HCC is in a bad part of town, I used to go there. It wasn't cool what happened, but if it were a hate crime they wouldn't have grabbed his wallet and left. They would have spent more time beating the shit out of him and calling him names. It was a crime of opportunity. I've been robbed several times here, but we call it a crime of opportunity, not a crime of gender or race or whatever.

Many of us are college educated individuals. We live normal lives, drive nice cars and achieved these things with our determination and hard work. PEREZ! This is NOT houston… I was apart of Pride Idol this year, which was an amazing celebration of Gay Pride. This was one person and they should be punished, not Houston! Our Lesbian Mayor will be apart of the Pride Celebration.. along with Andy Cohen.. I think Houston is doing something RIGHT!

Well I am from Houston, Texas and I think this is fucking sick. I just recently took a class about sexuality taught by a transgender person and when they say that he is gay and transgender, it means he likes men because a straight F to M likes women. Now that may not be what they meant, but that is what it technically means.
