Lilith Fair Starts Canceling Concerts!

| Filed under: Music MinuteNorah JonesSarah McLachlan

This is NOT good!

Due to lackluster sales, Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair has been canceling tour dates!

Norah Jones was scheduled to play between August 10 and 16 in West Palm Beach, Tampa, Birmingham, Dallas and Houston, but according to her management all of those dates have been canceled.

Venues have been changed in some cities as well to smaller spaces because of the soft ticket sales.

What gives??

Did U buy tickets to Lilith?

If they added Lil Wayne to their lineup, then I'd buy tickets!

Was excited to hear Lilith Fair touring once again - then I saw the lineup. Not too impressed so not interested like many others.

  3. 3

I did get tickets and was very disappointed when the Nashville show was canceled. Boo!!!!

  4. 4

I think everyone is saving their money for Lollapolozza and the new iPhone.
The economy is still tight and folksy girl groups ain't selling these days, sadly.

It was over priced….. simple as that. I wanted to see Mary J but I don't have the funds to afford a seat and I'm not sitting on the grass… they need to re evaluate the pricing of concerts overall

  6. 6

women make less money than men and Lilith is a Woman Thang. They ain't got the bucks

  7. 7

Well, considering they stupidly cancelled their Arizona stop (thanks Go-Go's) due to the immigration law,

    HA HA Lilithfair!

  8. 8

Guess the lesbians cant make it out this year.

  9. 9

hell no who would want to watch those dirty hippies do anything? nasty ass lesbians. even the ones that arent lesbian still suck. women cant do music.. case in point- madonna

  10. 10

I wanted to go to the Philly show but it was on a Wednesday. I can't take off work in this economy for a wednesday all day concert. If it was friday, saturday, or sunday I would have gone.

  11. 11

What gives? a person with common sense unlike yourself would realize that no one wants to see them hence no sales moron mario

  12. 12

I just hope they won't cancel the Montreal show.. i need to see Kelly clarkson :(

  13. 13

I don't go places where I'm surrounded by hundreds of ball-busting dykes who don't know what a deodorant stick is.

  14. 14

honestly, its poor timing, as a (straight) girl, i love going to music festivals and i would have maybe even considered lilith, however im too busy shelling out $ for bonnaroo and lala this time of year to be bothered. those fests draw 70,000+ and a lot of different bands go. not just the folky girly ones.

  15. 15

HELL FUCKING NO!!! Never go or support that shit…all though Sarah is a pretty lady…Other than that just a fuckin butch-dyke fest!! To quote icp in their lyrics about it…"I saved up my money and i went and saw the Lilith fair,I started stabbing lesbians there were millions of em their,I took off my thong and i jumped in the pit all though their was no pit it was only me and that was it but soooooo what. I was throwing myself all over the floor,Sarah Mclachlan was on stage and i said YOU FUCKING WHORE!!! LOL

  16. 16

you really don't understand why people aren't buying tickets Perez??? SERIOUSLY? Hmm..lets see I can rattle a bunch of reasons off in a couple minutes..
    1. The lineup sucks.
    2. Most of those people SUCK live..nobody wants to see horrible singers.
    3. Tickets cost to much to see these people who can't sing live.
    4. It's been branded as a lesbian festival geared towards women, some people don't care for that kind of atmosphere…that can't be helped.
    5. The economy sucks, less disposable income (do you know what that means, disposable income?) so they have to be picky about what they spend their money on.
    6. Did I mention most bands/singers can't carry a tune live and aren't worth paying $1 to see?

How is that does it make sense now Perez? Good boy, now go kiss up to Lady Gaga some more, thats all you seem to know how to do.

  17. 17

Calgary did well. Wasn't even stampede time! Yippee yeehaw! Was an excellent show for the money

  18. 18

    I'd rather watch women's golf.

  19. 19

What a bunch of ignorant assholes all of you are. You all obviously have no idea what the fuck Lilith is really about because if you did you wouldn't be spewing you're fucking bullshit. Lilith isn't about ball-busting dykes who don't know what a deodorant stick is, and Lilith isn't about anything anyone of you said on here either. I bet the majority of you have never even been to a Lilith Fair. Lilith is simply a Celebration of Women in Music, what the fuck is so wrong about that? So what if it draws a big gay following? I know plenty of straight people who go as well. I know the prices suck but seriously think about it, what show or concert lately have you gone to that you didn't have to pay more for than in previous years? And I know the line ups aren't like last time, but if you think about it isn't that what it's all about, the progression the growth of women in music, and all on one stage? I'm proud to say I was part of the original and now this Lilith, it's definitely something I will never forget.

  20. 20

put lady gaga and aguilera there….lol…… its gonna sell thoussss……..

  21. 21

    Re: MainstreamKilla

I'm LOLing at reading some ICP lyrics in a Lillith Fair thread. Much clown love to you!

  22. 22

I wouldn't pay 5cents to see any of the people on the line up. Lillith fair just isn't the least bit interesting and considering I hate Sara McLaughlin-I can certainly understand the lack of sales.

  23. 23

i guess the good times are gone for lilith fair…… indigo girls… jewel..sarah…. and all the crew…. well..its time to uptade….and maybe do something harsh…cut the folk themed dyke party….add some gay icons…and voila…. TICKETS SOLD OUT….gays guys buy tickets…. dykes…not so much… why? only dykes have the answer…….

  24. 24

All the scissor-ing and twat rubbing in public. Dykes pee in each other mouths in public.

  25. 25

The Philly show has a horrible line up. Not worth the $$$

  26. 26

I was going to say, if Perez is pissing and moaning about it she must be a lez.

  27. 27

    its a bit 90's

  28. 28

The problem I have with Lilith Fair, is that it's marketed to promote a segregated group for no particular reason and reduces your numbers of people who would want to attend.
    I am an ardent Capitalist.
Show me 100% of the money, and include ALL of the people that want to hear me sing.
"Yeah, let's only market to half the market out there."
"I hate Republicans, so lets have a "Liberal Female Fair."
Gee, I don't understand why we can't get enough people to see us."
It's another stupid Liberal idea. Duh!

  29. 29

Wow, I can't believe how much hate there is on here… and for some reason I feel if these users were bashing gay men, there would finally be an uproar.

  30. 30

Re: musictherapy – I know, these people have no idea what they are talking about. It pisses me off. You should read my previous post.

  31. 31

Re: luvstotango – You have no idea what you're talking about. Sarah has said in most interviews that they asked artists from every genre and they got who said yes. You would know this if you did your research, maybe next time you will before you open your fucking mouth.

  32. 32

Last time Lilith Fair came to town, it was worse than the G20 protests. Organized groups of serious lesbian uggos were roaming around shouting obscenities and littering the grounds. When they saw me they started chanting BREEDER at me. I was afraid for my life.

  33. 33

No one wants to go now that the GoGo's pulled out….

  34. 34

    Re: Fumbling17
I did do research. You should probably also do some research.
    Here's my test questions.
    1. Ask 5 men, "Do you want to go with me to Lilith Fair this summer?"
    2. No more questions needed. I rest my case.
The branding of "Lilith Fair" is decidedly dyke, rightly or wrongly.
Men don't want to go to this crap.
    Silly women don't undertand this.

  35. 35

NO ONE WANTS TO SPEND THE FUCKING MONEY to go to these concerts we already saw back in the 90's….

  36. 36

Re: luvstotango – So you're saying all the research you've done is you've asked 5 men? That's it? Kinda biased don't you think? Have you even been to a Lilith Fair? That's all the research I need. I've SEEN who goes and plenty of men go, plenty of gay, straight and whatever else men and women go, and yes I admit that it does draw a large lesbian crowd, but I can't help the fact that lesbians have good taste in music. And, the only branding of dyke or whatnot has come from ignorant people such as yourself, maybe you should go and see for yourself before making such comments.

  37. 37

Who has all this money to go to all of these concerts? Not many people!

  38. 38

My research is more in-depth for this horseshit festival, than when when you decided why you must cast your vote for Flopbama to rule the fucking world.
    Give me a break.

  39. 39

I wanted Go!!! But it was waaay out of a college girls budget

  40. 40

Re: Fumbling17 – i think when most people think of lilith fair they think of a womens festival aka lesbians taking their bras off, going topless and relishing in the sisterhood. maybe some better promotion could have saved it. when i think of lilith fair i think of the above plus bad folk music and the indigo girls. now the indigo girls have some of the worst voices i have ever heard. they sound even worse live. i know they are not playing in lilith this time around, but they are what allot of people think of when thinking of lilith fair. nothing about lilith sounds appealing.

  41. MP says – reply to this

That's too bad it's not selling well, I went to Lilith Fair in college and it was awesome.

  42. 42

Re: luvstotango – I'll have you know that I am a lesbian and I DID NOT vote for Flopbama. Give me a fucking break.

  43. 43

Re: the Period – Yeah I totally understand what you're saying, and respect your opinion. I'm sorry that nothing about Lilith sounds appealing to you because it's a wonderful experience just to see such a vast genre of artists sharing the same stage on the same day. What Sarah McLachlan and Lilith Fair did for women in music will never be rivaled. It opened so many doors, it does suck that this time around it's not doing the same, but really could it? Just look what it did before you can't question that. Oh, and the Indigo Girls are playing this time around so I understand you're wanting to stay away from them lol.

  44. 44

"Lilith" was a baby killing succubus i.e. a female demon so the idea of supporting any of that radical fem com horseshit is out of the question for me. I'd like to see Sarah McLachlan and Norah Jones tour together separately, however.

  45. 45

I was so looking forward to seeing my sisters in Sappho. There's something about a woman that loves to wear Bierkenstocks, doesn't shave her legs and pits, and reeks of patchoulie and granola that gets me excited. I'm going to spend the money and go. "Hang on Fern and Opal, we're off to Lilith Faire!" Now where is my Indigo Girls CD?

  46. 46

I was so excited when I heard Lilith Fair would be touring again this summer but I didn't end up buying a ticket because I didn't like the fact that they were so expensive, I didn't like that there was assigned seating, and the lineup wasn't as good as it could have been :(

  47. 47

lineup is terrible. Selena Gomez? Uhm yeah ok.
