Zack De La Rocha of Rage Against the Machine is planning a series of concerts called the Sound Strike campaign to protest Arizona's state immigration laws.

He explains:

"In the coming weeks we are going to be organizing a series of concerts that are respectful of the nature of the boycott in its attempts to isolate the Arizona government but not isolate the people, and especially the organizations that are fighting this on the ground."

"Many of us have begun to plan concerts that include bands that have signed on the Sound Strike, and make tickets available so that people within Arizona can come and see these concerts as they roll out."

Sound Strike participants include Maroon 5, My Morning Jacket, Ben Harper and Pitbull who have all agreed to boycott the state until the new law is repealed.

Amazing!

    – Illegal entry into the country is equivalent to a felony punishable by two years’ imprisonment. Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud. Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years’ imprisonment. Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country (see, for example, President Obama’s illegal alien aunt — a fugitive from deportation for eight years who is awaiting a second decision on her previously rejected asylum claim).

    – Law enforcement officials at all levels — by national mandate — must cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including illegal alien arrests and deportations. The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations. Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.

    – Ready to show your papers? Mexico’s National Catalog of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizens’ identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest as illegal aliens.

All of these provisions are enshrined in Mexico’s Ley General de Población (General Law of the Population) and were spotlighted in a 2006 research paper published by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Security Policy. There’s been no public clamor for “comprehensive immigration reform” in Mexico, however, because pro-illegal alien speech by outsiders is prohibited.

Consider: Open-borders protesters marched freely at the Capitol building in Arizona, comparing GOP Gov. Jan Brewer to Hitler, waving Mexican flags, advocating that demonstrators “Smash the State,” and holding signs that proclaimed “No human is illegal” and “We have rights.”

But under the Mexican constitution, such political speech by foreigners is banned. Noncitizens cannot “in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.” In fact, a plethora of Mexican statutes enacted by its congress limit the participation of foreign nationals and companies in everything from investment, education, mining and civil aviation to electric energy and firearms. Foreigners have severely limited private property and employment rights (if any).

And so do you, you moron.
    Stupid is, as stupid does.
Then you guys come and post here, on Perez all the news FlopJS repeated off Qcards, from comedy writers.

Thankful for a God damn laugh.
It's so heartbreaking listening to Rush and Mark Levin on radio.
FOX News is usually banished from our house…it's way too leftwing with Ted Baxter ponificating, that Barackie isn't dangerous and has handled the oil spill pretty well.

Still you're all quiet, defending BO, while the oil kills the critters and more jobs for Americans are lost.

As for abuse, the Mexican government is notorious for its abuse of Central American illegal aliens who attempt to violate Mexico’s southern border. The Red Cross has protested rampant Mexican police corruption, intimidation and bribery schemes targeting illegal aliens there for years. Mexico didn’t respond by granting mass amnesty to illegal aliens, as it is demanding that we do. It clamped down on its borders even further. In late 2008, the Mexican government launched an aggressive deportation plan to curtain illegal Cuban immigration and human trafficking through Cancun.

Meanwhile, Mexican consular offices in the United States have coordinated with left-wing social justice groups and the Catholic Church leadership to demand a moratorium on all deportations and a freeze on all employment raids across America.

Having traveled into Mexico last year to various cities on the Baja Peninsula, a distance of more than 1,000 miles round-trip, we were stopped more than 20 times at various checkpoints. At most of those stops, we were told to exit the vehicle and we were subjected to rigorous inspections. Where does Mexican President Felipe Calderón get off with his hypocritical outrage at our Senate Bill 1070?”

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Gary doesn't piss me off. Gary's saying what everyone already knows about the dire situation we have with illegal immigration. What Gary can't do, unfortunately, is connect the dots between the situation now and how this highly discriminatory law is going to stop illegals from getting past the border, which is the real problem. All he's doing is pointing fingers and going "Gurrrrr, they're stupid, everyone is stupid, we all need to be stupid together, gurrr". That also doesn't change the situation that everytime there's anything political mentioned on this entertainment forum you show up and start acting like a giant fucking cockhead just getting on my nerves, and everyone else's I'm sure, with your tired gonnorhea about how liberals will rape your mother and eat your baby because that's what we are all about. Go fuck yourself, you subhuman pile of shit with eyes.

Re: archimmes – Re post #120 Gary got your fucking goat. It's not up for debate. He pissed you off and everyone here knows it. Also, now I know that I piss you off as well with your comment that I get on your nerves. You are in the minority here and Gary and I are not in minority. We stick up for Americans. You don't stick up for Americans. You lose. Good day, sir!

    Only in your fanatic imagination!
Just sit there and imagine while everyone else actually lives their lives LOL

  25. 125

Re: supersongbird – You're not even spelling the insult correctly. It's called the c word for a reason. It's not called the k word. I never said that I got his goat. I said Gary got his goat and that I pissed him off. Did you see what he wrote? He said himself that I got on his nerves. Now I know that I got on your nerves, too. Awesome. I see that you are still disparaging special needs people. The R word is too cruel for me to use.
PS You're not invited to my Happy Deportation party this summer.

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – I wasn't debating whether Gary got on my nerves on not, cockface. Gary just posted pages of ramble I could have gotten off The Daily Dish. And you are not in the leagues to piss me off, asshole, your whole existence, the fact that you buzz around these boards like gnat to shit making insane comments and thinking that there are other assholes like yourself is only mildly irritating, never amusing. For all I know, you're just some inbred trash with a wannabe god-complex. So like I said before, fuck off inbred trash, no one cares about you, your miserable existence, or what you have to say.

  29. 129

Thank you AZ!! LOL @ Rage Against the Machine they are doing this so they can sell tickets I haven't heard them for years..the only people that will show up is the illegals, people dating illegals, and people who are ignorant and this its racist..better start making your little protest signs. Disgrace to America. GTFO of this country if you are against this law. I think I'll make tacos for dinner…With a side of victory :)

Great, if it keeps all these crappy bands out of Arizona, it's a beautiful thing!

    Re: MrBlonde1990

Equality for all? Are you fucking serious?

How about equality for the honest and legal residents of AZ? Don't they deserve to be chance to not have to worry about the crime that ravages their state, specially on the southern border? I seriously don't understand people that think that anyone and everyone that can walk, run or swim into OUR country.. regardless of if they do it legally or illegally.. deserves any special treatment.

I'm all for legal immigration.. you want to come here? Fine… just go about it the proper way. I will say that they do need to make the process easier and more streamlined.

If your here illegally though, you have no right to nothing other then the right to go back where you came from.

I LOVE how celebrities hop right on the trend even though they don't really know what the fuck is going on. It's pathetic.

  33. 133

Re: Unbelievable! – what the fuck are you talking about? they call themselves mexicans dumbass!

  34. 134

Rage Against: You are picking the wrong fight. The states need laws like this to keep the balance of immigration here. We can't afford to sponsor countless illegal immigrants.
This sucks cause I like some of RATM's music.
Why do some people think it is okay for citizens of other countries to come to the US without proper paperwork and admitance? No other country allows that! And no, the US does not have the economy right now to support all of them in the social programs, without them paying into it. Unreal how people twist this into a racist thing.

  35. 135

I have absolutely no idea what this is about as I live in the UK but I do love Rage Against the Machine. I was jumping up and down when Killing in the Name Of beat crappy Joe McEldry (yet another talent show winner, yawn) to the Christmas No 1 spot. Rage Against the Machine donated most of the money raised from sales of the single to charity and came over here to play a free gig to say thank you, which unfortuntely I could not attend :o (

Re: Eldridge Cleaver – Thank you my friend.

  39. 139

I'll say in this post what I said in the 20+ States adapting Arizona's bill…
    ***
It's not just about the Hispanics. There are groups from around the globe that will travel to Mexico and enter the United States illegally. It's not just about illegal immigrants taking advantage of public school systems, health care, etc. It's also about people who are terrorists and wanted criminals as well. It's a national security threat. If the federal government can not protect our borders, then the states should have every right to protect its citizens.
    ***
The AZ bill is not racial. The problem is it is being turned into a racial issue. As someone else had commented before, read both the federal law, and the AZ bill. They are practically one in the same, with the exception that police can only question your legal status if there is probable cause and the feds don't have to have a reason. As long as they have proper identification that says they are legal, then they shouldn't have to worry. And again, this is not geared towards the Hispanic population as all the democrats are making it. It is for EVERYONE!

  40. 140

Don't forget about Gogol Bordello too….picked up the cause quickly! Arizona's current immigration laws are not what this country is about!
