Larry King Gets A Replacement!
They pulled in quite the replacement at such short notice!
On the heels of Larry King's announcement that he is retiring in the fall, CNN is negotiating a $10 million deal with America's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan to take over for the talk show host!
And he apparently beat out Katie Couric and Ryan Seacrest for the job!
According to a source:
“CNN has made it clear to Piers that he is the network’s first choice to replace Larry. He is very, very close to agreeing to terms. America's Got Talent finishes in mid-September. That is perfect timing to coincide with Larry’s retirement and allow Piers to take over.”
We're curious to see how the show will do with Morgan!

Re: stefystef – because they, as in THE POWERS THAT CHOOSE, think (well, that is questionable) that americans love anyone with a British, Australian, Irish or New Zealand Accent. Yes, it is an overload. TV hosts, their side kicks, etc. Look at 'america's got talent' judges, NONE of them are AMERICANS!!!!! We must send a message to HOLLYWEIRD that yes, we have an unemployment problem, even among actors, HIRE AMERICANS!!!!!!
Pierce is a former pitbull editor of The News Of The World in the UK (Perez's go to for stories every weekend). He has cultivated a Mr Nice Guy image over in North America - haha, don't be fooled. He will be a tougher interviewer than Larry ever could be - better for all the self promoters that come on the show nightly. It just might be a worth watching show with him at the helm, something the show has lacked for the longest time with Larry, so set in his old ways!
I only know that it would have bombed with Couric. And Ryan Seacrest is good but he probably doesn't know much about politics. Not sure about this guy. Some interviewers do too much talking about themselves (Leno) so who knows. Time will tell.

there is no replacement for larry. but if it is it definitely isnt this guy, or ryan and definitely not katie. I would much rather watch dean cain do it or any former actor with a serious disposition.

At first I thought NO WAY!! Thought Ryan would be the best choice. Then thought better of it and decided Ryan's got his thing going and it's working for him. His radio show and Idol along with taking over Dick Clarks stuff and all. Ryan's got his career covered. Back to Piers Morgan…..ya know, he's not afrais of pissing people off and getting to the dirt and well, isn't that what Larry is all about?!?! Now that I think about it, I'd watch him!! Team Morgan!!

no one with an british accent should do this show. after much consideration. I would give the show to whoopi goldberg. she is absolutely perfect for the show. Oh please, Like if Seacrest needs another job! They should just cancel the show completely! I hate when big names like these get replaced. Just look at the price is right! Drew Carey SUCKS! Morgan is going to be bad. I would much rather have had Andersen Cooper take Larry's place.
He will be better than Larry has been the previous few years. Larry would forget his guests name, interupt them, and not really ask any hard questions. At least this guy might be a hardhitter. Who knows.

Great choice. Already does a good in-depth interview show in the UK, has done panel TV shows with politicians and run 2 major (albeit tabloid) newspapers in the UK and he doesn't pull his punches. He's also written 2 very funny books about it all.

I think he is a good replacement because Piers Morgan is a little outspoken like Larry King and can probably make a good argument happen on TV
