Slipknot Needs Time To Regroup

After the tragic death of bandmate Paul Gray, Slipknot hasn't decided whether or not to keep making music.

Guitarist Jim Root explains:

"There's going to be a big healing process that needs to happen before we even think about whether or not Slipknot will continue. And right now that's the furthest thing from our mind.

"Right now we are just grieving or trying to find time to grieve anyway for the fact that our bro's gone. It's weird because some days I don't even think it's real, so that one's not going to make sense for a while."

Root added that it will be "probably two years at least" before the band regroups and goes forward if at all.

Sad, sad.

I'm glad that they're taking time off, at least. They need to grieve. I've seen this happen all too often and people say "we'll keep going because ______ would have wanted that," but people need to look out for themselves and their loved ones in times of loss. My heart aches for Brenna, Corey, James, Shawn, Chris, Sid, Mick, Joey, Craig and Pauls unborn daughter. I'm still gutted over this. Slipknot has been one of my favorite bands for over a decade, and as a metal head from the Midwest, my community is forever indebted to them for giving us a name, a voice and the ability to be heard. I'm thankful to all they have given us, and we as fans need to give back to them by letting them take every second they need to figure it out. Much love to the guys. RIP Paul Gray.

Re: LaLaSerpentine – to each his own. people need to quit being so pompous about their own favorite genres of music and admit that all music in some form or another is an art form. Not all art forms appeal to all people. I personally feel that gospel and R&B and some pop music is crap, but I don't hate on those artists.

"Ohhh, I have an avatar of some gorgeous celebrity which hides my identity, so I can talk shiz and diss everyone, even tho if I said Slipknot sucks to their fans faces, ESPECIALLY IN THIS TIME OF GRIEVANCE, They'd likely whup my ass and then light me on fire."
