I love gays but this is ridiculous… Gay people say that they're born gay, and if that's so why should they benefit higher from something that they were born with? Also I kinda take this offensive considering I'm straight. Look at it the other way around. What if everyone got a bonus on there pay check because they were STRAIGHT? This is completely unfair and unprofessional of google to bring peoples sex lives into work.

it is nice idea, but really reverse discrimination. paying anyone more for the same job is never a good idea. google just opened itself up for a major ass lawsuit from all of it's other employees

Re: ScreamVengeance – they technically do have a bonus…they dont have to pay certain taxes….they wont get the bonus just if their gay that be bogus,,,, thy will get the bonus if they are gay and have a same sex couple in a sort of marriage( whatever u wanna call it)

I don't understand why google is giving higher pay raises to its gay empolyees. People act like being gay is a disease that requires extra attention. This is main reason why gay's have more money than straight people. Well at least i know how what i will be saying at work now, "I'm a lesbian and i want more money" hell it's not like they can come into my bedroom and find out. lamo@destroyerr maybe your gay co workers can recommend you to a nice day spa while you still work for less money. I know i sound a little bit harsh but, this shit is crazy! I guess that's what you get when you are constantly bitching about gay rights. in addition to a pay increase gay's also get good health incentives as well!

Yeah, you don't need the extra money…a medical insurance company recognizes you as a legal couple, and you pay a discounted family rate as a result of that.

I am dumping my google services and ending our cloud computing contract next month because of this. There is nothing more SEPARATE and UNEQUAL than UNEQUAL PAY for EQUAL work. Fuck you google!!!!

Wow all the dumb comments below, really?!?!?! The article clearly states WHY they would pay gay employees more. When my boyfriend and I started dating, he didn't have health insurance, but California allows you to add domestic partners, and it doesn't have to be SAME SEX. The cost of adding the domestic partner by your employer is TAXABLE INCOME for the employee!! Therefore, they BRING HOME LESS MONEY. Is that fair??? No it isn't, and Google should be commended for taking steps to give equality to their gay employees.

So before you start spouting off crap from your mouths and bitching that it's unfair, try READING THE ACTUAL ARTICLE before letting the verbal diarhhea leave your mouth!
