Stephen King's It Getting Remade!

We can't imagine anything will terrify us as much as the original miniseries, but you never know!

Stephen King's classic book, It, has already been adapted for the small screen, and now it's getting the film treatment!

Warner Brothers has commissioned screenwriter David Kajganich to adapt the story into one film, and he recently discussed his process of translating such a detailed, long book into a single movie:

He reveals:

"In all of my talks with the studio, it has only ever been discussed as a single feature film. The book's length is clearly more suited to a mini-series and I understand very well why they went that route the last time around, but I think the book's content is really more appropriate for cinema. I told the studio from the beginning that I felt I needed to be able to write for an R rating, since I wanted to be as candid as the novel about the terrible things the characters go through as kids. They agreed and off I went. I think the biggest difference is that we're working with about two-thirds the onscreen time they had for the miniseries. That sounds dire, I know, but it doesn't necessarily mean two-thirds the amount of story. I'm finding as many ways as I can to make certain scenes redundant by deepening and doubling others. To me, this is an interesting process because it has the effect of thematically intensifying the whole, but it can lead to dramatic surprises. Certain scenes I thought would be crucial to the coherence of the whole ended up cut, while other scenes, which were somewhat cursory in the book, ended up being pivotal in the script."

Inneresting!

We wonder if he's all talk, or he'll actually be able to make it work!

Either way, that awful Pennywise the Clown will surely scare us shitless once again! That monster is FUCKED.

What do U think?? Are U interested in another It movie??

    YES AWESOME!! Thats a classic.

  2. 2

Then it will fail hard! The original movie is fuckin' EPIC

  3. 3

    why?
the series was looooong and good.
new technology will make the effects better

  4. 4

Another terrible idea in a looooooong history of Hollywood’s most terrible ideas!
    Leave the classics ALONE!!

  5. 5

as long as tim curry plays pennywise, otherwise it will fail like TCM, F13, Freddy, and the rest of the horror remakes

  6. 6

The only remake I'm looking forward to is "I spit on your grave." I think I might be a little sick lol

  7. 7

They seriously better not have a fucking spider be the end of the movie. Possibly the WORST ending to a movie "series" or movie in general that I've watched. Totally ruined the whole thing…God I remember how stupid I thought that was and I was like 12 at the time ha.

  8. 8

lady gag gag can play the hideous clown

  9. 9

    Re: suicide girl

The original miniseries was REALLY cheesy. Tim Curry was amazing, but it deserved a big-screen adaptation and I'm stoked they're finally doing it.

  10. 10

haunted my nightmares for years as a kid! ugh!!!! i cant hardly stand to look at oennywise even now…though the band pennywise is super sick! but i digress..

  11. 11

Not sure how I feel about this. I'd have to see some footage before I decide if it's going to be shit or not.

  12. 12

    I'm freaked man

  13. 13

God awful idea! The director/producer whatever is a jerk. Let him try to remake IT and see how it plays out with the young generation. And those of the slightly older generation that may have been scared out their wits(happily) when we watched this on TV!!Why would I want to see a trash version of a IT? It was plenty scary without the T &A!

  14. 14

Its always hard when I see hollywood remaking old movies. Noone likes change and im pretty sure most ppl when or if they have kids will always say … see the original its better. lol I would watch this, but I still love the orginal

  15. 15

Nicole Kidman should be Pennywise. She is perfect for the role. Dead white skin check, inflated red lips check, bloodshot dead looking eyes check, horrible frizzy hair check. She's perfect without any time in makeup Sign her ass up!!!!!

  16. 16

Loved the original. I would not watch a remake…ever. You can't replace Tim Curry as Pennywise.

What has happened to Hollywood? There was talent there at one time but these past few years have gone downhill…not only with the acting skills (partly due to reality tv people becoming "stars" and singers trying to act) but movie endings suck (too many to list), and then you have the writers going on strike for more money but they aren't doing the work…they are taking someone elses work and trying to update it.

If it ain't broke…don't fix it.

  17. 17

Gaga looks 100% better in this photo. Keep it up "wifey."

  18. 18

    Don'tcha want it, Georgie?

    19

If any movie should be remade…IT is it. Just imagine all the new graphics …. sounds good to me. BUT they have to … HAVE TO make the movie really long so they can fit everything into it. If they cant … then dont do it. Unless they make like a part 1 and 2. The original was awesome back in the day …. but when I watch it now … its kind of boring. I hope they follow through on this.

  20. 20

I really wish they would stop this crap. The original miniseries was awesome! Why don't they come up with new ideas?? Are they that lazy??

  21. 21

This fucking clown is the scariest shit ever.

  22. 22

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! do NOT do it!!!!! they're going to fuck up my favorite stephen king book!!! and series!!! NOOOOOO!!!! why don't they better do something original i don't know… just DON'T MESS WITH MY IT!!! NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  23. 23

I always worry when King's stuff gets adapted, but in this case, who knows? The first half of the mini-series was awesome, but the second was laughably bad…maybe they can improve it? Casting will be soo important though, and I second the nomination for bringing back Tim Curry….he WAS Pennywise :)

  24. 24

They better not eff this up! All Stephen King movies always get screwed. Tim Curry better be in it.

  25. 25

You know what they should do? Bring back "The Rocky Horror Picture Show!" NOT A REMAKE, THE ORIGINAL! How great would that be, a new generation of the "Rocky" cult. Big fun, teens would love the cosplay. Just reminiscing.

  26. 26

Love the novel & the miniseries, THERE'S NO NEED FOR A REMAKE!

  27. 27

Re: crickets – Are you Tom Cruise? (Never seen so much Nicole Kidman hatred - and she doesn't look *that* scary:))

  28. 28

As a child, this was one scary f#cking movie.

  29. 29

oh, and yeah, this f-ing series haunted my dreams and made me afraid to turn on the taps in my bathroom. not going through that again:)

  30. 30

i am half way through the book and i think a remake would actually be cool. loved the tv movie but sooo much was left out..and got kind of cheesy at the end.. could def. be improved!

  31. $onia says – reply to this

    31

Looks like Lady Gaga has been cast to play herself.

  32. 32

ooh. Dont know wat to think about this…. when Hollywood gets ahold of it… But than again the Graphics and Technology would be awesome.. Looking forward to it— hopefully for the Good of IT

  33. 33

Im sorry for me this is when King began writing books that "screamed", "please maKE ME INTO A MOVIE", and the books themselves were awful! This is coming from someone who LOVES his work!

  34. 34

Stephen King's stories always suffer on the big screen. Too much of the story has to be left out or changed. Pet Semetary is a perfect example. And to be honest, his books are usually great until the end when it's kind of a let down. They often leave you thinking "That's IT????"

  35. 35

…As long as they don't totally screw it up, I may like it.
But it's one of my favorite horrors…so if they make it FAIL I'll have to slap somebody…
I'm a little cautious…because lately remakes haven't been good at all.

  36. 36

This movie scared me shitless when I was a kid!

  37. 37

I will accept nothing from that Kajgnanich fellow! Now if ROB ZOMBIE directed the film with Bill Mosley as Pennywise that would be a hit. And it wouldn't fail hard.

  38. 38

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

tim curry is the ONE AND ONLY pennywise. FAIL.

and Jonathon Brandis!! how i miss him. RIP.

  39. 39

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

tim curry is the ONE AND ONLY Pennywise.

and Jonathon Brandis. how i miss him. RIP. :(

  40. 40

Re: Tnorris – so you want them to change the ending of the book, just because you didn't like it????

This will be amazing with the technology you have! LOVE IT! Still never manage to get through the book tho, its been sitting on my shelf for years!!!

"They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!"

  41. 41

Hopefully they dont fuck the movie up lol

  42. 42

I agree with JRodFilms, Tim Curry is the only person suited to play Pennywise. The content is better suited for cinema, but who is going to sit through such a looong film? To make it cinema appropriate, the filmmakers will have to cut out too much important content. This is my favorite book and I loved the original movie. And, the spider at the end of the movie is what is in the book- it kind of needs to stay.

  43. 43

HEHE hopefully he goes to macdonalds and get his head chopped off while scoffing a burger

ugh i thought i was kicked off but im still here it said something like access denied

  44. 44

If they do make this movie they should do it in 3D can you imagine Pennywise the Clown and his tricks comming out of the screen at you

  45. 45

I would love to see this as a movie. The original Pennywise scared the bejesus out of me. That one scene when they open the book and the picture comes to life - and Pennywise suddenly turns to look at them and runs towards them. ARGH!

  46. 46

Been waiting FOREVER for this… but only if: Tim Curry is Pennywise again. No one can top his performance. It's on my top 10 best performances EVER. (and I saw a comment about 3d, holy shit. hahaha that may be interesting, if done correctly).

  47. 47

kinda excited about this, but hopefully there will be a better ending.. the whole clown turning into a spider thing was pretty dumb! Especially for a movie that was sooo awesome until the end!

  48. 48

Perez you should play Pennywise….you already have the wardrobe and hair

  49. 49

I don't think it will be the same without John Ritter, young Seth Green or Jonathan Brandis but I will of course give it a try.

  50. 50

this is OLD NEWS PREZE!!! evryone knew this! its on the wiki page of it anyways

  51. 51

I only watch horror movies (even cheesy ones!) or movies that have hawt guys in them, such as Robbie P., Johnny D., or Orlando. My favorite horror movies are the original "The Shining" and the 1973 black and white version of "The Legend of Hell House." They're chilling each time that I see them!!! :-O

  52. 52

Kid's should be more afraid of you Pervez could never undo the psychological damage you would implicate…as for the remake I was disappointed to read this I really do love the original sure they can do better effects now in days but Hollywood rarely puts legitimate good actors in movies I'd have to see the trailer…

  53. 53

Is Hollywood filled with drug-addled, no talent writers, directors and actors? For God's sake, come up with a fucking original idea for a change!

  54. 54

AWESOME. First of all, as a fan of King, LOVE it, but although the original can not be beat, i always wondered what the movie would be like if "revamped"… No one can do pennywise better than Curry.. good luck

  55. 55

That clown gave me serious nightmares!

  56. 56

look how many fbk likes! damn!
