Melissa Etheridge Gets Nasty In Divorce! Shame On Her
After 9 years of being together, Melissa Etheridge filed legal documents to formally end her domestic partnership with Tammy Lynn Michaels on Friday.
In a Petition for Dissolution of Domestic Partnership, Etheridge cites "irreconcilable differences" and has requested joint custody of their 3-year-old twins.
More shockingly, Melissa has asked the court to NOT award financial support to Tammy, which came as a huge blow.
And of course Tammy didn't waste any time blogging about her reaction to the news, writing:

Tammy also says that without a "steady paycheck" coming in, she's been left flat-broke by Melissa and has even had to borrow money from neighbors. She writes:
i gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because i stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. and i was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar.
i was always the house wife after that. the only thing i hated about it was not bringing in money- i have made my own money since i started babysitting at 10, and having a newspaper route at 11. having no steady paycheck killed me for those years with her. and now it's really killing me. the other week i had to borrow money from a friend. two weeks ago i had to scrape together $1.25 to pay for gas. i know she doesn't want to give me money. trust. i'm borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)

Melissa is a sleaze. To fight for marriage rights, and then, after agreeing that your partner will be the stay-at-home parent, to abandon them literally and financially is unforgiveable. I was once a fan, but no more. If you want equal rights, then equal responsibility, too.

Wow - this is really horrible. I don't agree with divorce laws that say half, because that's nonsensical. But, I also do NOT agree that people that marry and start a family, with one staying home to raise the kids (including the ones that aren't even theirs!!), so that the other can make the living / money, need to pony up and take care of that family in the event of a divorce. This SUCKS Melissa!! You FOUGHT for equal rights, you WANTED TO and DID marry. NOW f*cking suck it up and support your family, you DEADBEAT. I don't care what went on between the two: you do not leave the other parent, who relied on the balance of the household (i.e., I raise the kids, you get the paying job), destitute. My husband and I agreed that when we have our first child (he's due in September) I would quit working and focus on raising him. That is obviously what they have done. If my husband and I divorced then I would expect child support. Melissa Etheridge should be doing what is right and financially helping with her children. She is a piece of trash for not doing so.

I believe in the sanctity of marriage that – a man is for a woman and vice-versa. I’m pretty sure, most adults around the world currently oppose to same sex marriage (SSM) but my personal view on the matter is that the trend now is towards acceptance. These couples deserve equality, financial security, dignity and respect. Denying a couple this rights who made lifetime commitment to support each other is unfair and unjust.
As such, a major thing though to consider is that marriage in society is a major topic discussed in schools starting in kindergarten. They should be taught that SSM is equivalent to opposite sex marriage because majority of the children are reared in a home with parents of the opposite sex and that kids have needs that are met by parents of the opposite gender.
TO MS. ETHINRIDGE: you fought for equality and financial support. Why the hell now denying financial support to your partner?
