Who's Is Taking Over The Office???

By now, if you are a fan of The Office, you know that Steve Carrell is prepared to pack up his World's Best Boss mug and peace out at the end of next season.
Co-star and coexecutive producer Mindy Kaling has a few ideas on who will be taking over as boss once Steve takes his final bow and considering her position, we think she might get her way.
That's our way of telling you this might be SPOILER-ish. Nothing is confirmed, but it might actually happen. Proceed with caution.
So Mindy sees the perfect replacement for Steve in…Rainn Wilson! She explains:
“I’d love to see Rainn Wilson in that position. Dwight has become so nuanced — you actually care about him now. I think if [we did a good job laying the groundwork] this coming season, he would be a fantastic boss. But that’s my dream. It certainly hasn’t been approved by people that are more powerful than me and who make those kinds of decisions.”
But the "promote from within" idea is only a back-up to her ultimate dream - Steve staying put!
Like everyone else, Mindy is hoping he'll change his mind and want to stay with the show a bit longer:
“We’re still infatuated with Steve and love him so much that we’re hoping for some 11th hour like, ‘I really do like this schedule and I like craft services here, so I don’t want to go.’ But I’m going to take him at face value and [assume] he’s not being coy and that he really wants to [leave].”
The time has come. He knows it and we don't blame him.
Welcome to the slow decline towards the end.

They just need to end it. I've been a fan of this show for 4 years and I can't imagine it without Michael. If he's gone, don't drag it out and ruin it. Just end the show.
"Who's Is Taking Over"?! Really? Does anyone proofread this shit? Seriously.
Making Dwight Poop boss sounds like a great idea. I was hoping that Jim and Pam's baby would bring some much needed laughs into last season but the show has been going downhill for the last two seasons
If they don't turn that trend around next season, it's a goner.
That sucks. I didn't know he was leaving. He was my favorite character on the show. The only way I would watch it after he left is if he was replaced by Ricky Gervais.
Gervais or cancel it. Really. cancellation is way better than ruination.
I wish he wasnt leaving! I could see it being the end of The Office, but maybe just maybe they can figure out a way to make it go on! I love this show and I hope they find a way to make it watchable. Also "Who's is Taking Over the Office?"……..I write better than that when I am wasted.
"Welcome to the slow decline towards the end." Fuck you Perez. I'm sure you have never watched that show just like you've never watched the Deadliest FUCKING Catch. You rip on these shows when you have NO further information about how popular they all are. Sure it's going to be different without Steve but hell The Office is not going to die. You have Rainn Wilson there for crying out loud! A fantastic actor which you know nothing about obviously, you fuck nut. The Office is so popular unlike your skank ass. Go blow your fucking dog you fat ass ugly motherfucking twat swat.
No, Dwight can't run it. He might be a hard ass, but he doesn't respond the way Michael or another boss would. He's just fire everyone and want to run the company on his own.
And THIS is the official moment when The Office jumps the shark
Rainn would be perfect, or even better, Rhys Darby.
I'm glad Carell is leaving. He's turned Michael into a unlikeable cartoon. I think Rainn Wilson would be a fantastic boss. Mindy is one smart cookie.
I'm pretty sure the show is ending next season with his exit. As hinted at in the finale *spoiler*
Holly may come back which will tie up his storyline nicely. After six seasons, the Office is played out and feels like its run out of ideas. The show without Steve is beyond jumping the shark.
Re: Flwrpunch22 –
Agreed Agreed Agreed. I can't stand it when they try and drag these shows out. Simon's leaving American Idol, end it! Michael Scott leaving the Office, end it!
The show has been downhill since the wedding. When Steve Carrell leaves its over
Re: Flwrpunch22 – I agree totally
and too much Dwight is not a good thing
" Dwight has become so nuanced — you actually care about him now."
How does she know what the audience is thinking, she is a part of the show. I think that one problem that many shows have is that they think they know what the audience is thinking, and they build their show around that way of thinking creating a recipe for cancellation.
Besides, her idea of Dwight replacing Michael is horrible. Every time Dwight had the opportunity to take over the office, he acted like a Nazi and the whole time I was just hoping that Michael would somehow get the office back.
You know, I can't see the show continuing without Steve. He really IS the show. The show wasn't all that great this season anyways. That whole "Sabre" idea was bad.
Anyways, I think that the producers should really try to get Steve to at least be a GUEST STAR on occasion. I've really been thinking about who should replace Michael, and the only other person besides Ricky Gervais that I could think of is David Koechner aka Todd Packer.
Oh, Ricky Gervais! Brilliant! Yes.
At the same time, I think this show has run its course. What's left to do? (Unless Ricky has a few ideas, of course.)
Rainn is not going to cut it in my book.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Re: pearlygurl2007 – Great idea!
AHHHHH….I HATE THIS VERSION OF THE OFFICE….sorry that was a bit strong…. I dislike the 1st season of this show…complete rip off of the british series…. and with all this talk of Rainn Wilson taking his place… wouldnt that be like the UK edition again….even now…. they can't help but mimic the far superior UK office
I'd love to see Todd Packard take over as boss. Love that character.
Dwight as the boss is the ultimate in jumping the shark. If Michael goes, then a complete unknown character needs to step in if they have any chance of staying afloat.
