Cold! Melissa Etheridge Will NOT Be Paying Tammy's Legal Fees!
So unfortunate!
The split between Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels just got even uglier yesterday when the judge DENIED Tammy her request to have Melissa pay her $25,000 in legal fees - because as we've reported, the singer left her ex completely destitute.
However, Melissa's attorney convinced the judge that his client was already paying for her home, food, and kids' tuition, so Tammy should be able to cover the fees herself.
Wow! She's become ice cold, hasn't she?

Why should she pay for her legal costs? Can the woman not work herself? Melissa is already paying for EVERYTHING.
While I'm not sure how it works in CA (which is where I assume they are), in NJ there are a list of factors that need to be considered by the judge before ruling on a motion for attorney's fees. That being said, one of the factors to be considered is each party's ability to pay, so if Tammy truly is destitute, it seems like the judge should have awarded her some money.
Why the eff should she?! I never understand why Judges grant those requests, pay your own effing legal fees!

The reason Tammy doesn't have money is because they agreed that she would not work and she would stay at home and raise their children. I used to be a huge fan of Melissa, but now I can't stand her. Homemakers are generally undervalued. Staying home to raise the kids is a huge responsibility, and generally harder work than most jobs. But when the marriage falls apart, all of a sudden the homemaker is labelled as 'lazy'. So unfair.

Just because it was ME that chose to leave the marriage does not mean that she has to pay for everything. It takes 2 to make a relationship/marriage work and it also takes 2 to make it go south. Nobody truly knows what happens in a Marriage, but Tammy did give up her career to raise those adorable children. Then Melissa blindsided her by announcing the break and saying it was mutual. It does appear Melissa is being ice cold. I always liked her, but I don't like her actions lately. I know some is due to her lawyer, but announcing on t.v. they are breaking up when she promised not to? That Melissa has to own up to. Also when your spouse gives up a career to raise your children, animosity hurts them more than anything.

As a stay at home mom, my husband pays for my bills and if were to get divorced I'll still stay home, why? Because of our handicapped baby girl, ME should open her wallet with eyes closed and be thankfull that THEIR twins are healthy. Having kids is expensive and for one of the parties to not work it'll be hard to find and maintain a job. People if you have kids you should understand that it takes two to tango, to discipline, to love, to feed, even thou ME is not the biological mother so far the twins know her as one.
