Potterheads Flooding New Theme Park! It's A Problem
We get you are all excited, but two hours to get on a ride seems a bit much!
Word out of Universal Studio in Florida is that the crowds are so large at the Wizard World of Harry Potter that guests are being rerouted to other parts of the park until later in the day. As you can imagine, Potterheads aren't too pleased about that!
Check out this report straight from the park itself! (above)
Have any of U braved the crowds yet???

I've never seen exactly 1 Part of this crab
i've been twice - some long lines but not as bad as portrayed in the video. both times i visited in the afternoon/evening. worth the wait… very cool
i just went last tuesday and we got there when the park opened and there was still an hour wait to get into harry potter world, they were handing out tickets though that allowed you to come back between a certain time like between 12:30 and 1:30 and it allowed you to jump the line. The only problem is once you are in, you can't leave bc you will have to wait. Harry Potter world is packed, and yes the wait to get into the castle was about 2 hours, but the ride inside is DEFINATELY worth the wait!! The inside of the castle is amazing as well and the ride is one of the best rides I have ever been on. The waits are not that bad, it is definately worth a trip!
"but two hours to get on a ride seems a bit much!" - mario obviously has never been to hersheypark…….every ride you'll wait this long…….esp the insane roller coasters………….
We waited about an hour to get into Harry Potters World. Line started near Jurassic Park. Sometimes the line was back to the cartoon place - a 4 or 5 hour wait!
THEN you are in and you have to wait 2 hours, in our case, to get on the ride. The line goes thru Hogwarts castle, which was very, very cool. But the ride itself was kinda lame. Or maybe I was just to hot and tired by then I had lost interest. I think it was one of those motion rides that Universal loves so much, but it was hard to tell what I was on.
The line to get into the wand shop was 2 hours! The line to get into the candy shop was very very long!
But the whole "town" is beautiful and wonderfully done.
ive been! the queues were soooo big in the mornings.. it awas 5 hours long at one stage! we waited until later in the day and got on in 1 hour thirty minutes, we then used single rider lines the next few days fter it.! the ride is amazing though! i really enjoyed it.. it was definitely worth the wait!
OMG I almost forgot - you DO NOT want to bring ANYTHING with you on this ride! If you have anything at all - including the butter beer cup you just paid $9 for - they make you go into this locker room to lock up your stuff while you're ont he ride.
This locked room was the BIGGEST CLUSTERFUCK I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 hours is nothing
Thorpe Park last year when Saw the ride opened.. 6+hr wait to go on the coaster.
People were actually told to go on other rides because there was no chance they'd get on it that day. True story.
I was actually there the week before it opened and they were having technical rehearsals. All the rides were open….and the shops. There were no lines at all and we rode everything twice back to back….its pretty amazing….and worth the wait.
Re: April 20th – never heard of hershy park……we have real theme parks here in FL…
Two hours is actually the normal wait time for Disney this time of year, so it doesn't surprise me to hear of lines that long at Universal. This is why the summer is such a bad time to visit Orlando. Everyone else in the world is there and it's extremely hot and humid.
The worst thing would be having to stand in line for two hours with a bunch of dorky Potheads listening to them exchange stories about every Potter book and movie they've read or seen 20 times.
I went for my first time yesterday since it has opened (And I literally live right across the street from Universal.) and we went at around 6 pm and went straight to Hogsmeade. It was a tad crowded but not too bad. The line to do the whole wand experience was pretty long. I say about an hours wait? The Forbidden Journey line was NOTHING to what I've heard. We waited in line for about 15 minutes and we were on the ride. The shops in Hogsmeade are very tiny so you can imagine how quick it fills up with like 20 people inside. Hogwarts inside is AMAZING. I have only seen one Harry Potter movie and I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan, but wow, they did an amazing job with this place. I was even tempted to buy a wand (and I did). I just remember last year going outside and being able to see Hogwarts be built everyday and now that I finally got to see the finished product, it's incredible. I had no idea it was that big inside. So yeah, if you guys get to go, go inside Hogsmeade after 5pm I say. It's not as hot, and the crowd dies down.
pleased… not please.

Re: ShakeYourkitty – Quit being such a theme park snob. I think the point he was making is even at smaller parks a two hour wait is normal on busy summer days. I have been to all the Florida parks, as well as Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Hershey Park, and agree where ever you go in the summer, you will have a two hour wait for the top attractions. Yes the Florida parks are the largest and by far best theme parks, however if your a coaster fan you're better of at one of the other parks I mentioned.
I just got sunday from the park and yea the lines just to get in the park were about an hour. However, because I stayed on site at the resort hotels, the park opened at 8, but they started letting people in at 730. so in order to beat the terrible lines, you really have to show up at 730 at the latest. we did this everyday, and never waited in line longer than 15 minutes. we were completely finished with the harry potter park by about 9, which was wonderful!
Well worth the wait!
We went opening day and waited 3 hours just to get into Islands of Adventure alone, and then another 5 hours in a line that wrapped around the entire park just to get into the Wizarding World. It was a looooooong day of waiting, but it was totally worth it (for those that actually LOVE Harry Potter) My parents thought that it was really cool, but they could have done without the 8 hours of waiting haha. I didn't mind it though, when we got inside, it was just amazing.
Re: ShakeYourkitty – i guess you've never heard of hershey's chocolate then…..idiot………..
All theme parks are busy in the Summer. I've waited two hours to ride certain coasters at Cedar Point.
Re: ShakeYourkitty –
It is a real park. Lots of cool coasters!
2 hours is nothing. I was there opening day and waited an hour to get into Islands of Adventure, 6 hours to get into the Wizarding World, an hour for butterbeer, 2 hours for the Forbidden Journey ride, and 3 hours for Ollivander's Wand Shop. I was exhausted, sunburned, and wearing very heavy black robes.
It was completely worth it, and don't let anyone anywhere tell you otherwise.
we were there - do the individual rider lines and you get right on everything!
I went to the soft opening. June 8-10. There was basically no wait at all. I rode Forbidden Journey 4 times. I got Butterbeer each day. Got to eat in the Three Broomsticks twice - once for lunch and once for breakfast. It was the coolest thing ever. The soft opening was the way to go.
bb, have you ever been to DISNEYLAND??? the waits are MUCH worse than this! absolutely horrible… especially on saturdays.. ughh.
I actually went there a week after it opened. The first day wasn't so bad. The Forbidden Journey had a 70 minute wait while the dragon rollercoaster only had a 35 minute wait! So I guess it all depends on which rides you prefer. But I must say it was beyond amazing. Every little detail was in place!
Proud to be a Potterhead!
the ride is NOT worth it … everyone is fucking LYING … the harry potter ride is STUPID and very GLITCHY……. the screen is distorted.. .NOTHING BUT A FUCKING SIMULATOR!!!…..
lets be real here people. the thing JUST opened. of course there's gonna be insane amounts of people. I worked a semeser at Disney and everyday I met families from all over the world. they save for years to get a few weeks worth of vacation in the states. and florida is the #1 place they chose to go. Harry Potter has been a big part of this generations pop culture. OF COURSE people are gonna want to be a part of the magic as soon as it opens. The guy in the video is right. If you have the time…WAIT IT OUT! Visit the theme park in the fall/winter. It's not as blisteringly hot and the crowds wont be as big.
Telling guests to wait till after three is such bullshit. If an excessive amount of people wait till after three its going to be just as crowded.
We got to the park at around 8:15am waited for about 15-20min to get into Harry land and then 25 minutes for the ride. Worth the wait- eat at the Three Brommsticks it is fun and the people are so nice there. It was a fantastic place!
I was there 2 weeks ago and waited in line for about an hour and a half before going into Potter world…I was there with 7 family members and we were all too fat to ride the damn Forbidden Journey ride!! Some of us are just over 200 lbs. It was ridiculous..one of the staff members told us if we wanted to we could wait in the two hour line just to see the castle, but then we would have to leave before getting on the ride..I spoke to someone else and explained our situation and he let us go through the fast pass line just to see some of the castle. For us it wasn't worth it. My brother waited in line for 2 hours to get a wand, and then when he was ready to buy one all of the good people were gone. His only choices were Nevill and Malfoy. I have to say that Disney World is way better than Universal for being fat friendly..the whole family can ride every single ride at Disney!!!! And for those of you that hate fat people…SCREW YOU!!!
It is worth it! My husband and I have been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter the day after it opened and then 2 more times that same week. We waited 3 hours to get into the Potter section of the park on the first day and then many hours waiting for other attractions within the wizarding world. It really was all worth it, but I am the kind of person who loves the excitement and it was great to explor all of the hidden stuff in the park. We went back 2 more times just to hang in that section and drink up the butter beer! Can't wait to go back!
We went the first day it opened and waited in line for a little over 5 hours. There were over 200 people in the park already, so just imagine how long all the lines were. The forbidden journey was only 45 minutes and we got right on the dragon challenge ride. The lines to get in the shops were an hour and 1/2 and the line to eat at the 3 broomsticks was over 2 hours. Basically, twice as worse but WELL worth it. I'm going back sometime later this year hopefully, so i can enjoy it without all the people.
I live in O-town. I'm just going to wait before i brave the crowds. lines aren't so bad, but they're horrible in 101 heat index with 200% humidity.
i went about 2 weeks ago. it was crazy! i got there at about 9am (when the park opens) and had to wait an hour to even get into the harry potter section. once inside, i waited an hour to get into 3 broomsticks (the restaurant), an hour to get into the castle, and hour to get butter beer, etc. we had to wait in line for at least an hour anywhere we went, even the gift shop. however, it was totally worth it. if you're remotely a fan of harry potter, the park is definitely worth being in. you feel as if you are immersing yourself in the world of the harry potter books. i would definitely go again, but i think i'll wait a couple years when it starts to slow down.
That's why I'm waiting to go in the off season. EVERYONE goes to theme parks and brings their bratty, screaming children with them.
I went opening day, The Forbidden Journey was the only ride with a line when I got in. I did, however, show up at 5:00 am and was in one of the first groups to get in. The line for the Three Broomsticks was insane though, so we starved until we couldn't take it any longer and left the Wizarding World…and they won't let you back in once you leave.
