Bret Michaels said on this morning's Early Show that he is NOT engaged to baby momma Kristi Lynn Gibson!
"No. We are not engaged yet. We're a work in progress," Bret reveals.
As for the ring that Kristi has been spotted wearing, Bret says it's "a promise ring…a friendship ring, with benefits. That's what we call it."
Oh, how romantic!

I like Bret Michaels and all. Well, I think he's funny and fairly normal compared to most rockers but come on, I just think it's a little sad when you are his age and do the "friends with benefits" thing. I dont believe people have to be married and have kids to be happy but you already have two kids with this woman and obviously love her. In this case I would say just get married and get it over with. He seems to think that getting married means he loses his "rock star" image. It only took him 3 dating shows to what? Go back to his ex? Lord, Bret, get over it and marry her. You will still have a career one way or another. Plenty of Poison fans out there to still make you money and live well.

He doesn't want to give up any control over his money, is probably what it boils down to. Also for a guy as famous as he is, he must still get women wanting him all the time. At least he is somewhat honest and is not being a hypocrite about it. Nothing is going to change his feelings for Kristi, but how many times can any man say no to all that temptation night after night? She doesn't have it so bad; she doesn't have to dance or waitress any more, and she's got a decent gig as an "unofficial" wife and mom. The public shouldn't judge him for being true to himself first. He's not getting any younger, and he knows the Rock of Love shows may still be an option for him later on. If he's married that cuts off a major future stream of $$$ for him and his family, so why do it? It's a business decision as much as anything.
