We Love Macca, But This Is Lame!

Give us a break!

Paul McCartney had a Liverpool McDonald's remove photos of The Beatles from the restaurant!

A long-time vegetarian, Paul was furious to learn that pics of the band had been plastered on the Sefton Street McDonald's in their hometown of Liverpool. They have now been removed.

Apparently he didn't want his photo endorsing meat products.

But we think as long as it isn't misleading or for an advertisement, businesses should be allowed to put up photos of whomever they want!

What do U think?

if that's how mario feels then a picture of his fat ass should be put up where people hate gays or fat people………

    2. 2

You know what, it's about time we heard about some famous person, not cashing in on something, but also caring about what a simple picture can do. Good for him. McDonalds is the shittiest place on earth to eat, and his picture shouldn't be there. I don't agree with being a vegetarian, but at the same time, I don't believe anyone should eat, what McDonalds cooks up either. Lame? What do you know?

    3. 3

mCdonald's is BOMB…now check out this BOMB voice on YouTube…JESSICA SANCHEZ!!! ;)

    4. 4

Would you indorse an anti homophobic establishment Perez? He dosen't eat meat, McDonalds has 2 all beef pattys.

      You are such a douche.

    5. 5

It's McD's…. They clear rainforests for the billions of lbs of paper products they use. They single handedly close small diners and restaurants across the world by coming to neighborhoods near you. And, they support an army of farmers who inject their animals with hormones. How could you claim you're healthy lately, Perez, and NOT support this man having his face removed from their buildings? There is no connection to McD's and the Beatles. Hometown or not, they were yet again just trying to milk locals of their money… by endearing them with something their instantly recognize. They do the same thing to little kids, remember… with plastic, made in china crap toys? Good for you, Paul!

Re: April 20th – exactly, what a hypocrite he is.

    7. 7

Re: alihalley – Exactly! Took the words right out of my mouth. McCruelty is a dump. I can't even stand the sight of those "golden arches." The world will be a better place when all these shitty fast food joints shut down!!!!

    8. 8

Even as a meat lover, I wouldn't want my picture in McDonalds of all places….ugh! That shit's disgusting!

    9. 9

People who TRUELY care about animals & dont abuse/murder/exploit them for their own gluttony or "fashion" don't want their picture hanging in one of the worlds top exploiter of animals restaurant. I sure wouldn't.

    10. 10

I would have done the same thing. McDonald's should plaster their "restaurants" with pictures of obese people dying of heart attacks instead.

    11. 11

Ringo is also a long-time vegetarian, as was George Harrison. I don't know about John Lennon. But I wouldn't want my photo plastered in some McDonalds restaurant, either. It's just a corporate attempt to suck up to Beatles fans in Liverpool.

    12. 12

I think that if the roles were reversed and the McDonald's company found another organization that they didn't want to be associated with posting photos of Ronald McDonald on their walls, they might just do the same thing.

The man worked hard all his life to become the person he is and I don't think it's unreasonable to want to have a say in what his is associated with.

    13. 13

McDonalds or no McDonalds, you DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to posts photos of someone on the wall of a restaurant or a bar without asking their permission.

    14. 14

Doesn't sound so lame to me. Good for him. (Though, I suspect Beatles pics are in lots of unhealthy restaurants).

      Perez,
Would you want your picture to be displayed in a facility that opposes gay marriage and gay rights?

      16

      good on Paul

    17. 17

He doesn't eat meat-but he does get hammered and knock his wife around. What a hero. He is the MELtdown Gibson of Britian!

    18. 18

So, by your logic, if I were to suggest to the Belen administration to put up pictures of quasi-successful alumni, and then suggested that they be broken up by legitimate and illegitimate success and also by sexual orientation, you'd be totally fine with that?
Additionally, how is McCartney's face in a McDonalds not misleading? It suggests that he approves of factory farming, McDonalds, and meat-eating in general, which he does not, so this is open-and-shut misleading.
Besides the fact that a lot of the photos used of McCartney and the Beatles were likely copyrighted, there's also the undeniable fact that McCartney has the law on his side, whereas McDonald's and self-righteous attention seekers typically have no rights to do what they wish with photographs of people who are not consenting, and especially so when the photos are owned by someone else.
I suggest you leave matters of civil litigation to the qualified.

    19. 19

As a long time vegan, I would be totally outraged if McDonald's posted a picture of me! There is not one vegan item on their menu. Even the fries are coated in beef fat. He totally was in the right to demand they remove his photos!

    20. 20

i'm with Sir Paul on this.

    21. 21

      LAME = MARIO

    22. 22

He's a staunch vegitarian, and has been for over 30 years. I dont think it was wrong at all.

    23. 23

Re: Birdatl – In Europe their fries are vegan.

    24. Emesa says – reply to this

      24

Thats completely reasonable perez. If a corporation that I KNEW was anti-humanitarian, sexist or cruel to animals was using my image you bet I would want it taken down!

    25. 25

Not lame at all. Paul is a vegetarian and McDonald's is evil in many ways.

    26. 26

Re: shorelinebeads – Very well said! I agree 100%!

    27. 27

He's standing up for his beliefs. In my opinion he's done the right thing.

    28. 28

TOTAL JACKASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUDE HAS WAAAY TOO MUCH TIME ON HIS HANDS. JUST AN OLD MAN WREAKING HAVOC WHO NEEDS ATTENTION AFTER THE BEATLES DISAPPEARED A 100 YRS AGO. GOOD THING MJ PISSED HIM OFF BY TAKING HE BEATLES CATALOG. WHAT A DOUCHE!!!

    29. 29

mario's readers have once again owned him………usual week I'd say……..

    30. 30

What's the big deal if they are a fan? I'd kinda like to see Paul chased down the street by a couple dozen Ronald MacDonalds.

    31. 31

      Bravo Sir Paul!!!

    32. 32

When you're a Beatle, you are not just anyone. So no, McDonalds should not be allowed to just put up photos of whomever they want. Especially when said Beatle is a vegetarian. It’s called intellectual property and McDonalds does not have the legal right to just use his name and likeness in their establishments. A celebrity of his stature has to be mindful of where his likeness and image is being used. Whether the photo is being used to advertise their businesses or not, customers will still make that connection and assume he is endorsing them. I’m with Paul on this one.

    33. 33

      McDonalds sells TOXINS.

    34. 34

If you knew what happened in order for McDonald's customers to get their $1 "burger" and/or you were a vegetarian, you wouldn't want your picture up there either. Good for him!

    35. 35

Amazing & good for him. As a vegetarian myself I would never ever surround myself around meat products or anything remotely close to the torture and massacre of animals. McDonalds is digsuting anyway. It's the sickest place on earth so is KFC..

    36. 36

You tell em Paul! I don't blame him, I'm a vegan and I wouldn't want to support meat eaters.

    37. 37

Paul McCartney is a douche and it's pretty obvious. Love the Beatles….hate him. He needs to go away now.

    38. 38

      its not lame at all!
he doesnt want to be associated with it so why should he be?!
no one wants to be connected with something they dont believe in!

    39. 39

Paul is an ASS. He comes to the White House to get an award and states the previous President of the US cannot read. Regardless of your politics, Paul's statement was an insult to America. Paul was not very bright when he married without a pre-nup but he thinks he is smarter than Americans.

    40. 40

NumberPronk: You're the one who sounds like a douche and needs to go away.

    41. 41

FUCK NO they shouldn't be allowed to put up pictures of the Beatles!!!! As a fellow vegetarian and member of PETA, I'd be pissed-off too. McDonald's is disgusting!!!

    42. 42

BLSDJAN: The British courts do not recognize prenuptial agreements, so even if Paul had had one, the courts can, and do, ignore those agreements. Check your facts.

And Paul made a joke about Bush. Who hasn't? Get over it.

    43. 43

      Good for you Sir Paul!!!
      .
McDonalds is a horrible company with no conscience for anything; not the environment, not people and definitely not the welfare of animals.
      .
McDonalds is disgusting in every aspect!
      .
      THANK YOU SIR PAUL!!!!!
      .

      44

Oh please. I live in Liverpool. And when you say 'Beatles' people do not associate them with McDonalds or vice versa! We are proud of our music history with the BEatles, and its only a symbol of just that.

Plus McDonalds has Veggie burgers if you want to get technical :-P

    45. 45

Who cares if he was vegetarian, they're pictures of HIM, right? If I saw my face on something I protest against, I would have them removed, too.

    46. 46

WHO WANTS TO EAT ANYTHING WHILE LOOKING AT THAT SLACK-JOWLED LOSER.
VEGGIE OR NOT, THAT LITTLE BADGER FACE MAKES MY GUTS CHURN-KING DOUCHE-"SPEAKY A LITTLE ENGLISH PAUL?" BAD TOOTHED ASSHOLE!!!!

    47. 47

You think it's lame for him to stand up for what he believes in? What the hell? I'm glad he's a vegetarian and that he doesn't want the Beatles pictures in there. Fuck you, Perez.

    48. 48

      I agree with Paul.
Why should his picture be up at McDs or anything like it if he's a vegetarian and doesn't believe in what they are do. It will look hypocritical on his part.

    49. 49

      I agree with Paul.
Why should his picture be up at McDs or anything like it if he's a vegetarian and doesn't believe in what they are do. It will look hypocritical on his part.
      I'm a vegetarian too, i get it!

    50. 50

Weren't all four Beatles vegetarians? I'm pretty sure John and George were. To put their pictures up at a McDonald's is absurd.

    51. 51

Whether Paul McCartney is a vegetarian, whether you like his music … whatever. He has a right to decide the use of his image or the Beatles' image. The fact that he stood up for what he believes in should be commended, not denigrated. The restaurant (and I use the term loosely) attempted to cash in on the Beatles name just because they were in Liverpool - shame on them. Kudos to Sir Paul for NOT being a hypocrite - I'm sure he could have made some $$ off of letting the restaurant use his image. But he took the high road and said NO.

    52. 52

as a vegetarian myself, i have to say i would do the exact same thing if i were in his situation. mcdonald's is awful and horribly cruel to the animals that they use for their meat. i wouldn't want my face and/or likeness associated in anyway with them. that's just my opinion though…

    53. 53

he is a staunch Vegetarian(yay) so I see his point. McDees has a very bad animal cruelty track record.

    54. 54

Watch Food, Inc., I think you'll agree with him…
      McDonalds = shit (literally) burgers!

    55. 55

I support him. That's like American Apparel using Woody Allen to promote its underage-looking, milk-carton abuse victim ads. A celebrity's likeness is his commodity and must be policed.

    56. 56

I've met my share of militant vegetarians. I say to them what I say to anyone who sports a rigid point of view: You do your thing and let everyone else do theirs. I don't care you don't eat meat. By all means, have fun with that. But don't hate on me because I do. You see that, Mr. McCartney? I'm being reasonable and you're being an intolerant prick. Yeah, don't allow your picture in a McDonalds. That'll solve the world's additiction to fast food and cure the obesity epidemic.

    57. 57

Unless this is the second time he is doing this, then this story is REALLY REALLY OLD a year or more!

    58. 58

they should hang fat cows like perez in mcdonalds w/ a meat hook thru his empty skull. have a nice day.

    59. emhay says – reply to this

      59

Why should a business be able to use any image they want!? That's ridiculous. Why would a lifelong vegetarian agree for his picture to be used in an establishment he opposes? The Beatles are not really public domain, they are people. A business can't just use your photo without your permission. It's unlawful. I guess you don't really understand that, though, considering your job, eh? He's in a good position to say no, no one should deny him that. Not lame at all.

    60. 60

I am a huge Beatles fan and when I lived in Liverpool went to the McDonald's in question and loved the memorabilia and history of the Beatles in their hometown. As far as I was concerned, the photos had no connection to the restaurant, so I don't really understand the reaction. Everywhere in Liverpool has references to the Beatles - not just McDonald's. I think that Paul needs to remember where he came from and take a step backwards - its not all about him.

    61. 61

Re: blsdjan – I recall him saying something more along the lines of "knows what a library is." That was the only thing and it was all in good fun. That's probably the LAMEST thing anyone has said about George W. Bush, especially when it comes to celebrities! I wouldn't even take that comment of his seriously! What about all the other horrible things celebrities and other famous people have said about him, and not only that, voiced their opinions on literally EVERYTHING? After all that he has done, you focus on that? Stupid.

    62. 62

It's his photo, if he doesn't want it up there it comes down. Period.

    63. 63

i completely agree with that. as a vegetarian myself i understand how he feels. no veggie wants to support such a cruel and horrible company. even if it is just a photo. kudos to him

    64. 64

i'm not a vegatarian but I sure as hell would not want my image posted up in mcdonalds either.

I'm with McCartney on this one.

    65. 65

McDonalds should be shut down. Fuck 'em.

    66. 66

Well hmmm…..He represents 25% of the Beatles. Is Ringo a Vegan? Does it really matter THAT much to ANYONE? Slow news day I guess. Yawn.

    67. 67

no, PH, they shouldnt. let's put your picture up in a pig farm then. so correlation right? Why should you have a say, its only your picture :)

    68. 68

Good for you, Paul, sticking to your beliefs and standing up to the McDonalds's corporation.

    69. 69

He's just being a racist against the Irish "McDonald's. Stupid arrogant limey.

    70. 70

GOOD! bMcDonalds in the WORST American import ever. I'm glad he made them take the pics down.
