Although Bethenny Frankel claimed her childhood was difficult because of her abusive and alcoholic mother, it seems she may have been lying - and we wouldn't put it past her!
Her mother, Bernadette Birk, claims that those allegations are far from the truth.
"I love my daughter but what she's saying is killing me," said Bernadette, who also denies that she drank and suffered from bulimia. She does admit that there was trouble in the familiy, but Bethenny was "the most important person in my world."
Sad. Get over that shiz, Bethenny!

This is sad, what could her mom (who gave birth to her) could have done to her for her to hate her like that, where she could not have made amense with her. It really looked bad when she got married and NO ONE was there for her from her side of the family. Bethnney, you can change your friends but you cant change your family. Life is too short, let bygones be bygones and make ammense with your family. Are you going to send your mother to the grave without making up with her in an amicable way, like you did your father? This is something you will have to live the rest of your life with. What are you going to tell your daughter when she grows up? FYI…this is something you need to think about.

OBVIOUSLY her mom is going to say it isn't true. Bethenny has a right to talk about her childhood…we didn't judge Oprah, Tyler Perry, or any other celeb who has said they went through abuse. You should never suggest someone is lying about something like that and your comment to "get over it" shows that you've not endured a traumatic childhood. It's not that simple. I grew up in an abusive household but if you ask my parents about it they deny it as well. They will say just what Bethenanny's mother is saying and claim that is was only a few times and that I'm exaggerating. Parent's have a difficult time accepting their faults. Look at Michael Jackson's family. Even Katherine Jackson claims that there was no abuse. I believe Bethenanny. I agree with a lot of the comments on here. I never watched Bethenny's show and didn't really think much of her because of all the negative comments Perez wrote about her. However, after watching Bethenny Getting Married, I really like her! She's always honest so I'm not sure why Perez thinks she's insincere when she's consistent with the things she says. Who knows what the truth is? But if the abuse is true, telling her to get over it is not okay.
I used to love this website but it's gone down this year and barely read it anymore. It's gotten incredible annoying. I just don't understand why Perez is so hateful towards certain people. Shouldn't we be celebrating the fact that Bethenny is open to discuss her past to bring awareness to it?

Just because someone is a family member doesn't mean you HAVE to forgive them or get over anything. I was abused as a child and continue to be emotionally abused as an adult. My parents are toxic to me, and while I try to maintain somewhat of a relationship with them, we'll never ever be close. I have come very close to cutting off communication with them. I respect Bethenny for being so strong. It's not easy to get over that "shiz" as Perez so eloquently said. People with "normal" families just don't get it, but childhood trauma stays with you FOREVER.
