Degrassi Tackles Transgender Storyline
They have been known to cover edgy teen issues, but never anything this rad!
Degrassi is introducing its first transgender character, a new student named John.
"I can truly say that when we decided to do this episode we realized this is brand new territory for us," said producer, director and actor Stefan Brogren. "We've never even tried to breach this subject before. Of course we've dealt with gay and lesbian stories but you can't approach this the same way."
Jordan Todesey, who had to chop off and darken her hair, portrays the character who presents himself as a boy even though she is a female.
"The writing is good, they really go there with that kind of stuff and I think that this character can really speak for anybody who is outcast or bullied or transgender or anything like that," she said. "I really hope the fans like Adam."
So do we!
The episodes will air August 11th and 12th.

No I will not be…and that's not because I do not watch TV…it's because even if I did–I would never watch 90% of the stupid vapid shows on. Plus–I am getting really tired of the token characters being pushed all the time. THAT is actually becoming cliche now. Present some decent people for a change…THAT's what new and refreshing there days…just like people who don't have lame tattoos all over them. Society is actually becoming more stupid and more self centered. Don't believe it…just look around…

I watched this show like four years ago and stopped watching it because the things that happen arent "realistic" for one high school and one group of friends.
i mean how many people can say their group of friends..got pregnant, got raped, got aids, got an std, got hiv, had several shoots, many people dying. I mean common its not realistic anymore!
