Pam Anderson Gets Chopped For PETA Ad

Is this Pamela Anderson's plan to make a career comeback?

We understand she's supporting animal rights group PETA in their new campaign aimed at converting some meat lovers to vegans, but the ad seems a little over the top.

And Montreal is agreeing too, "a city official has told PETA that Montreal can't endorse an advertisement it considers 'sexist' — so no permit."

The city seems to be having some moral issues endorsing the Canadian actresses' sexy advertisement.

Do U think this ad is 'sexy' or 'sexist'??

I didn't see it as 'sexy' OR 'sexist'. But then again, I'm a vegetarian, so I get it. It doesn't surprise me that most people don't.

  2. 2

i dont find this sexist at all. eye opening advertisement.

  3. 3

    Stupid. Plain stupid.

  4. 4

how will that make people vegetarian?!

  5. 5

She was hosting a Gala at the Just for Laugh Festival in Montreal last night, and critics say she was HORRIBLE!!!

  6. 6

not sure how a sex symbol (Pam) in a skimpy bikini with a "come hither" look on her face wouldn't be considered "sexy"……..just sayin……..

  7. 7

    I don't think you understand much, Dipshit-Ghostwriter.
God I miss the Real Perez. I used to love this blog so much.
    Pamela is wonderful.

  8. 8

PETA, ACORN, SEIU = American Talibanistas
Just another Nazi jackboot organization that does shakedowns like our no-joke of a POTUS.

  9. 9

i don't understand what makes this over the top or sexist. i think its awesome

  10. 10

  11. 11

Canada is the land of out-of-control political correctness after all so this doesn't really surprise me. PETA are no strangers to controversy but it seems totally unwarranted this one time.

  12. 12

Not sexist at all. Can't believe Montreal is having an issue with this - they are the province of strippers.
Yep - vegetarian here too - so I get it.
    GO PAM!

  13. 13

I love Pamela and she truly believes in being Vegan and that's fine for her but I love a good steak now and then so the ad will not convert me but I don't find the ad sexy or sexist at all!

  14. 14

    WHAT THE HELL, PEREZ???!!!!!

  15. 15

She's amazing. She does great things for PETA and she has for a really long time. Maybe some other people should open their eyes to the animal cruelty that goes on to make the stupid food you eat everyday. Nothing sexist about it.

  16. 16

I dont find it sexist, but maybe if there was a guy modelling it too there wouldn't be such a response..

  17. Rynne says – reply to this

Neither really. If they're looking to get approval just release a male version of the ad as well.

  18. 18

I live in Montreal and the main street, St.Catherine, is lined with neon strip club signs depicting naked women for all the world to see. Get real Montreal this ad is tame.

  19. 19

WASHINGTON DC – The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online showing that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed 95 percent of the adoptable pets in its care during 2008. Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the animal rights group kills an average of 5.8 pets every day at its Norfolk, VA headquarters.
According to public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 2,124 pets last year and placed only seven in adoptive homes. Since 1998, a total of 21,339 dogs and cats have died at the hands of PETA workers.
Despite having a $32 million budget, PETA does not operate an adoption shelter. PETA employees make no discernible effort to find homes for the thousands of pets they kill every year. Last year, the Center for Consumer Freedom petitioned Virginia’s State Veterinarian to reclassify PETA as a slaughterhouse.
CCF Research Director David Martosko said: “PETA hasn’t slowed down its hypocritical killing machine one bit, but it keeps browbeating the rest of society with a phony ‘animal rights’ message. What about the rights of the thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that die in PETA’s headquarters building?”
CCF obtained PETA’s “Animal Record” filings since 1998 from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Members of the public can see these documents at PetaKillsAnimals.com.

  20. 20

they could have went about this in a less sexy way and maybe have made a more serious point about it…. using a more 'normal' looking person

  21. 21

I don't see how it's sexist. It's identifying that animals are all connected and are living creatures who share this earth. It's not saying "eat women" obviously. And btw it says go vegetarian and not vegan.

  22. 22

This is absolutely sexist. Representing a woman as a consumable object- likening her to a piece of meat??? Are we serious here? I think this is terrible. The advertisement degrades the Peta message. It's a shame.

  23. 23

  24. 24

This is hardly new, I've seen these ads with various celebrities for years. Pam's ad is new, is all.
Not sexist, not sexy, good point.

  25. 25

    shes still smokin!
and supporting an awesome cause!! go peta!!

  26. 26

Why doesn't she get rid of those UGG boots then? oh wait, supporting peta is all about publicity…. Hmm.

  27. 27

you dont have to be vegetarian to "get it" its pretty obvious the point they are trying to make (that we wouldn't eat humans so why should we eat animals) unfortunately it seems some are taking a different view of the ad without reading into the intended message. they assume it is saying a woman is like a piece of meat, not an equal human being. (the exact opposite) if people would just READ they would see it as intended and not sexist.

  28. 28

why the hell does she always have this fake gross ass look on her face… like she's trying to hard. this might not be the ad for smiling… but still her face is always sooo fug.

  29. 29

It's not sexist at all. And this ad is old.

  30. 30

it's just an ad! It's not sexist at all, it's a really good ad, it's really clear.

  31. 31

The ad is a little weak

  32. 32

  33. 33

either way…she still has hep c. She is nasty

  34. 34

I love Pamela and what she's doing for Peta!

  35. 35

it's objectifying. women = piece of meat to be cut up. objectification leads to violence against women. Peta always does crap like this. I would be more likely to actually listen to their message if they didn't express that message at the cost of dehumanizing women.

  36. 36

It's not even remotely sexist..Like some of the other posters..I'm vegetarian too,and a member in my home country.
    Real eye-opener!

  37. 37

    Re: Bigdawg
I really think that they want to stop the media attention with the excuse that it's sexist because it's bad publicity for the meat industry. Big money, you know. And the fact that YOU think and wrote that Québec is the province of strippers, make me think that you talk through your ass. Strippers club everywhere!

  38. 38

I think that the city official is a bit dense, and did not get the satrical quality of the advertisment at all. If a billboard was literally suggesting that a woman was simply a collection of body parts to be consumed then the ad would be sexist. The entire point of the piece is to show that if we treated a human the way we treat animals we would be shocked and disgusted. I think it is fine not to like it, just it should be for the right reasons and not a gross misinterpretation.

  39. 39

Its not like we havent seen her in less!

  40. 40

    this was on msn yesterday….

  41. 41

Pam, and other celebs, need to read about PETA…they clainm to be helping animals but they want NO pets! They kill a huge (95% I think) number of dogs they take in rather than find them homes…they are people with an agenda, and sadly it isn't to HELP animals

  42. 42

THIS seems "over the top". Youre such a fucking idiot. I'm cruelty free for 4 years…best thing I ever did. :o )

  43. 43

So PETA is now doing ads targeted to the Jeffrey Dahmers and Ed Geins of the world. Figures.

  44. 44

Re: like!!!COLON!!! whatever! – Oh thaksw for that I was going on memeory about their kill statistics and you actually researched it! I hate these phonies…if they eanted to campaign for a more benign way to treat animals I would be more in their corner but they are a savage group of fanatics who lead those sheeple around b the nose…to slaughter if you will!

  45. 45

    Re: like!!!COLON!!! whatever!
Dear Silly Person, "The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom" is funded by big-wig meat producers, restaurant conglomerates, and others who have a financial interest in exploiting animals for profit, and therefore in discrediting PETA.

  46. 46

Not to sound crass or anything but whoever did the retouching for this deserves a fucking medal.

  47. 47

    Re: luvstotango – Absolutely agree.

  48. 48

Re: tseriously – they are not saying that "women are meat"…what they are saying with this ad is that you wouldn't eat a human so why would you eat an animal, as they "ALL HAVE THE SAME PARTS"!!

  49. 49

Re: tseriously – But the point of the ad is to raise the meat to the status of a human, not reduce a woman's status to that of a piece of meat…

  50. 50

Re: Pocket24Re: tseriously – READ THE AD YOU MORONS!!! they are saying that HUMANS treat animals like CRAP…the meat industry is a very cruel and heartless BUSINESS….all they care about is $$ and they don't even think twice about the suffering they inflict on the animals while turning them into someone's dinner! if you wouldn't eat a human being, then you shouldn't eat an animal!! it's all meat afterall…who cares the source right?? the meat industry treats the animals it slaughters like pieces of meat BEFORE they actually are!

People need to remember that all animals have central nervous systems and they DO FEEL the pain that is inflicted upon them…they feel the blade slicing into their throats, they feel the hot irons that are pressed against their skin to "get them moving" down the ramp that leads to their bloody death, they feel and smell the death in the air of all the animals that were slaughtered before them. They feel the slaughterhouse workers' kicks and punches they administer to the animals "that are stubborn and refuse to move", they feel the broken legs they receive when they are "shoved" off the trucks cause they weren't moving fast enough….do you people get the picture yet!? just because they are animals, doesn't mean they don't feel things!

  51. 51

I live in Montreal and there are many, many billboards of barely dressed lingerie models in provocative poses, not all are for actual lingerie. I don't see why Pam's ad is sexist and the other ones aren't.

  52. 52

Re: sayswho – I always think of it as the humane society specializes in helping dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals. PETA, however, aims more towards showing people the terrible conditions that the meat industry subjects animals to. Both organizations serve an important purpose.

  53. 53

Re: VeganVal – amen! some people just don't get it do they????

  54. 54

advertisers have been using sex to sell for decades. not surprising.

not really an effective ad though…

  55. 55

Not sexist or over the top at all.
Everything I can see or read in this ad, is in fact factual (exept perhaps Pammies photoshopping).
I am not surprised that the mentally deficinet person who writes this blog, doesn't get it *eyeroll*
btw Montreal did the campaign a real BIG favour by declining this…LOL..Peta couldn't have paid enought for this kind of exposure.

  56. 56

I don't get it…I mean one of their most visible campaigns feature nude women. How is this different.

  57. 57

I don't think it's sexist, she's an animal rights advocate trying to get a good point across.

  58. 58

Gee, how old is that picture… obviously not a new pic cause she don't look like that now. Of course if they used a current pic, it might scare people off being vegetarians altogether.

  59. 59

    Totally agree, Dayle Denney!

  60. 60

Love this ad! It's sexy, she looks gorgeous, and I absolutely love the message! I hope it wakes people up to see that it's time to evolve and stop murdering and ingesting animals for your selfish desires and cavemanish habits! Did you know that meat takes longer to digest, so if you eat meat you have rotting carcass inside of you for days! Friggin nasty! Meat eaters stink! Go vegetarians, we rock!!! Live cruelty free!!!

  61. 61

i love her…she has a good heart and i truly believe she is a good person…sometimes i feel bad for her …a little marilyn monroe…taken advantage of by others syndrome… i wish her well and happiness.

  62. 62

Re: Pocket24 – Spot on!!! How can everyone on this site be sooooooo sick as to say that this ad doesn't animalize women! We women are more up front and in the position of power than society makes us out to be. Even in the 1920s, more women than men attended college!

  63. 63

Such a hot topic deserves a hot pic. Whatever works at getting people to pay attention…. Are we not all doing just that right now?

  64. 64

Makes me want to eat pork! yum, i love me some pulled pork sammiches!

  65. 65

Considering Pamela has spent her entire life selling her body for attention, it's nothing new.
    Dumb whore.
"Don't kill animals! But Support Our Troops As They Kill Other People's Kids!"
Is that the message these days from the US?

  66. 66

MTL is stupid…im no fan of peta..and im not vegetarian…but theres nothing wrong with it.

  67. 67

sexist? men have feet, legs, rounds, rumps, ribs, breasts, and shoulders.

they may not have silicone breasts but they do have breasts.

how the hell is this sexist? equalize this shit out by including a pic of a dude graphed out like that…

although i wouldn't eat pamela anderson if i were starving. i would imagine she would taste like that fake chicken from mcdonalds before the health craze lol

  68. 68

I'm a carnivore. I plan to remain one. However, this is a clever, thought provoking ad, and I LIKE it!!! Very much. (Like you, too Perez.)

  69. 69

As A Women I Don't Find It Sexist At All

  70. 70

    Yawn …

  71. 71

Ok first of all I love meat. But I have to give credit where credit is due. This is one heck of an ad. I really don't find this sexy or sexist. It is a very cleaver way to show it. Do you really think people will see this and say oh no more meat for me. I think not, but they are trying. What I don't understand is this, the peta people will throw bucket of red paint on people with fur. Now what do you think will happen? They will just buy another and yet kill more animals. If they wanted to make there point across. They should not take things to the extreme.

  72. luvu2 says – reply to this

I don't understand how seeing this will encourage people to become vegetarian….

  73. 73

Re: hawtmomma – educate yourself: Sexual objectification refers to the practice of regarding or treating another person merely as an instrument (object). Objectification is an attitude that regards a person as a commodity or as an object for use, with insufficient regard for a person's personality. When women are portrayed as objects without subjectivity, it may be easier for some to justify violence against them.

Help animals, but at the same time hurt women. NOT AFFECTIVE.

  74. 74

The dismemberment of women, in addition to the objectification of women, have serious repercussions including, but not limited to, body shame, appearance anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction, and eating disorders.

  75. 75

Re: Pocket24 – Thank you very much but I know what sexual objectification means. You missed my point completely and that of the ad. I think you are the one who needs an education here.

  76. 76

Re: Pocket24 – and F.Y.I: I have educated myself thoroughly on this topic. I have researched the mistreatment of animals for years. The fur industry is even more barbaric than the meat industry and it makes me very sad that some people think it's ok to inflict pain and suffering on animals just to make a buck! Animals can not speak for themselves so they need people to speak for them and that's what this ad and Pamela Anderson are doing! Plain and simple.

  77. 77

Is it still considered "sexist" if the picture is so airbrushed/photoshopped, it looks like a cartoon?

  78. 78

I don't like the way it's done to make her look like a piece of meat. Me no likey. :[

  79. 79

PETA: We don't exploit animals. Just women.

  80. 80

I find this absolutely hilarious! Perez you had no problem with Lady Gaga showing up to a Mets game in her bra and undies, smoking, and giving the finger to boot. Let me get this straight you think this ad is OVER THE TOP. I think making a spectacle of yourself for publicity is way more OVER THE TOP. Pam is trying to prove a point not being a dick just to get more publicity like Lady Gagme.

  81. 81

soooooooo im a vegetarian and tell me again why this should make anyone want to stop eating meat?

  82. 82

This is why I hate PETA and the celebs who chose to campaigne for them. It's all about sex and shock value. They don't care about animal rights, they care about media coverage.

  83. 83

PETA is a horrible organization that spews propaganda and is run by an anti-humanist psychopath. Obviously the majority of their advertisements promote a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle by exploiting women. I don't quite understand what naked (or mostly naked) provocatively posed women have to do with not eating meat or wearing fur. But hey, women are just advertising tools, right PETA? Anyone who supports PETA in any way should wake up and do some research. Ingrid Newkirk (the founder of PETA) has said on multiple occasions that humanity is a cancer on the face of the earth and that having children is pure human vanity. To excuse the fact that PETA's animal shelters kill the vast majority of the animals they bring in Newkirk has also said that cats, dogs and other domestic pets are 'companion' animals that have been ruined by humans. I guess she's never heard of symbiosis?

  84. 84

If you support PETA this is who you are tying yourself in with. Here are some quotes from Ingrid Newkirk:

"I’m not only uninterested in having children. I am opposed to having children. Having a purebred human baby is like having a purebred dog; it is nothing but vanity, human vanity." - New Yorker magazine, April 23, 2003

"We (PETA) are complete press sluts." - The New Yorker, April 14, 2003

"Six million people died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses." - The Washington Post, November 13, 1983

"Animal liberationists do not separate out the human animal, so there is no rational basis for saying that a human being has special rights. A rat is a pig is a dog is a boy. They are all mammals." Vogue, September 1, 1989

I'm all for stopping animal cruelty, but this lady is totally off her rocker. I love animals, but I don't love them more than humans, and I would rather see human's survive over than any other species. This doesn't make me a terrible, barbaric person. It's only natural for a species to look out for it's own survival above that of other species.

  85. 85

how is this sexist? Its pretty clever though

  86. 86

    not sexist or sexy

  87. 87

For crying out loud! Montreal has freaking "live sex on stage"….Ils sont des hypocrites!!! LOL….I love the ad!

  88. 88

I'm not a vegetarian and I see no problem with this ad.
It's just trying to show us how we view animals as nothing but food.
I think it's a clever ad, done in a sexy way to get our attention.

  89. 89

I have to wonder if they would be asking if it's sexist if it were a man… that's sexist.

  90. 90

Re: MrsChitownTex – oh i know Mrs.chi…and why does she always look like she's in heat?…gross!
I don't think this is sexy or necessarily sexist…just stupid really.

  91. 91

Montreal is the stripper/whore capitol of Canada….and please people, don't try to tell me that there is a difference between the two.

  92. 92

    Re: voie lacté!!!SEMICOLON!!!e
Ha ha — your probably a whore stripper.

  93. 93

But it's still okay for her to carry expensive LEATHER luggage???

  94. MsBre says – reply to this

This ad makes a point and for people who are considering a vegan or similiar lifestyle than it might push them to that point. As for sexist, that is ridiculous.

  95. 95

whew…….thank god for photoshop and makeup

  96. 96

I'm offended by the horrible photoshopping. Yikes
I think what they mean about sexist is the fact that it's a woman being used as a piece of meat. That's my theory anyways.

  97. 97

Fish have feet? Birds have shoulders? Caterpillars have breasts? etc

  98. 98

  99. 99

It's a lame ad and Peta did this exact same ad a few years ago with a different model. They need to be more creative — the sexual/nudity thing is getting old.

  100. 100

i like it …but at the same time i can see how people might find it sexist or sexy…it could honestly mean alot of things when you really look in too it …thats why its such a great ad
