Decisions, Decisions! Who Will Play The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo???

12girl_dragon_tattoo.jpg

It's starting to become one of the most coveted roles in young Hollywood!

With a December 2011 release date set and a lot of pressure to not be shitty, Sony Pictures has to light a fire under it's production of their adapation of the mystery novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The biggest hurdle to date seems to be which young actress will step into the shoes of the book's most coveted character, Lisbeth Salander.

As of now, there are a lot of names being thrown around, from Ellen Page to Mia Wasikowska, from Carey Mulligan to Kristen Stewart. (Ugh! Her again!?)

Competition is steep and as of now, there is no front runner, but if they want to make that 2011 deadline, somebody better pick one!

Our choice: Carey Mulligan… or really anyone else beside KStew!

Who would U like to see in the role?

wtf this is already a movie! no need to redo in english. going to probably rubbish compared to the true film.

    2. 102

this movie already came out in Canada. It's now on DVD at blockbusters across our Country.
They advertised it like crazy .
So im confused as to why they would make another one.

    3. 103

Hello! Obviously it should be Kate Moennig (Gywneth's cousin) who played Shane on the L Word. She's totally got the Lisbeth look and the balls to play this totally messed up character.

noomi lapace - like it`s already done.
it`s a perfectly decent swedish movie with no need for a stupid hollywood cover.

    5. 105

UGH!!!! THERE SHOULDN'T BE A REMAKE in the first place!!!! The swedish version is just fine and brilliant. o_O
      Secondly… I HATE Kristen Stewart… she'll F*ck it up!!!!

My choice between the four would be Mia Wasikowska. but please let it not be K shitious stewart. o_O

Katherine Moennig would be another good alternative.

    8. 108

    9. 109

there is already an awesome film of that book, hollywood will butcher it

    10. 110

Kristen Stewart, but no one can do it better than Noomi Rapace.

    11. 111

I was gonna say…..I work in a video store, and this movie JUST came out, like last week or the week before. So now there's gonna be another one? Seems kinda silly to me.

    12. 112

Yolande Visser from South Africa's Die Antwoord!

    13. 113

And what is so wrong with the film it already has?

    14. 114

all three movies from the three books have been out, the last one was in the german cinemas about 4 weeks ago. Why do another version of it? No wasy the americans can do it better than the swedisch. Same with the Wallander movies, the BBC have done a couple of seasons but I still prefer the swedish ones. htey are written by swedish people and anly they can bring over the right feelings obviously

I'm confused…the movie has already been made (yes, originally in Swedish and dubbed in English)…why make another one? Oh wait, right: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

None of the actresses mentioned above would fit the role. It should probably be someone unknown. I'm curious to know which actress will accept this role, it's so.."raw". It's a very difficult role to play emotionally because of all she goes through.

    16. 116

From the day I read the book - I imagined Ellen Page playing the role of Lisbeth…. Please please, make it Ellen…

    17. 117

They are all not bad-ass enough. Why even bother to make a re-make. I wonder how many americans actually saw the Swedish film(s). It's gonna be a hard one to top. Escpecially since it's gonna be a hollywood re-make. That won't do.

    18. 118

The movie has already been made - Hollywood should pick another project.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Män Som Hatar Kvinnor; Millennium: Part 1: Men Who Hate Women
      (2009) R
Journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) and rebellious computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) team up to investigate the unsolved disappearance of wealthy Henrik Vanger's (Sven-Bertil Taube) teen niece (Ewa Fröling), only to uncover dark secrets about Vanger's powerful family. Niels Arden Oplev directs this Swedish thriller based on the first novel from Stieg Larsson's best-selling trilogy.

    19. 119

Kristin Bell–hands down. There's no competition.

    20. 120

I will not watch an American remake. You cannot remake this here in America without RUINING it! The Swedish version is superior to anything that can be made here. And there is no actress in Hollywood that could carry the role of Lisbeth Salander, none.

    21. 121

Question is. Why does America film movies over and over again?
Same with the RING.. now this. There's already a GOOD movie.

but yeah I get it.. it is not a million $ hollywood thing..

    22. 122

i think katherine moennig would be the best for lisbeth, those others are too girly

    23. 123

      Re: DC_DivaRe: DC_Diva
that is the most retarted thing ive ever heard.

    24. 124

did they not do this film or was it a different one of the book series

    25. 125

      Shannyn Sossamon would be perfect.

    26. 126

If they choose Kristen stewart or any one of these girls I WILL hang myself, search for Noomi Rapce, she played the original Lisbeth Salander in the swedish movie, and kristen stewart can't pull off that role as her, watch Noomis performance, it's flawless, kristen stewart is too much disturbed for that role, i think they should go for an unknown person,a person that haven't been marked yet, like Kstew or Ellen page, If they're turning a Swedish movie to an english, they gotta do it correctly, swedes don't act out as much as kristen or carey, ellen or mia, swedes make films seem like their role is their life, they don't exaggerate like Kristen stewart, Lisbeth is tough and has a stone face, she doesen't let anything change her, and she can stand out with much and fce it, Kristen CAN'T do that, so if they choose her as Lisbeth, i will say that they could just blow my country up, i'm a proud swede, and want them to do this movie good, go for an unknown person instead not some cranky bitchy, rude person like Kristen, she's just not good for the part!

    27. 127

Re: Gretchen Gauldin – She looks like Lisbeth, she has that look in her eyes, (Y)

    28. 128

NO Stick to the original one!!! Noomi Repace is the one and only Lisbeth Salander!!

    29. 129

I just read a little of the "Girl with the dragon tattoo…. SOUNDS BORING!!!….

I thought it was about Martial Arts?… :(

Lame.. Lame.. LAME!!!… it's about some rich fucks and some murder.. BORING… don't do it Kristen!!!… there are better Roles to play than that…

      Stupid northern European garbage….

    30. 130

      Ellen Page!!!

    31. zenj8 says – reply to this

      131

Megan Fox has the attitude and could easily be transformed…

    32. 132

Re: puma12 – Boring? It's not boring at all. You may not like it but it's not boring.

    33. 133

They need to cast an unknown. Why do they always want to cast the same 25 people in everything?!

    34. 134

I'd like to see Natalie Portman in the role. She knows how to play gritty, tough characters. Ellen Page, Carey Mulligan or Kristen don't seem right for the part.

    35. 135

masumi max should definitely play her

    36. 136

Okay, so I saw the entire movie and I saw The Runaways too (LOVE KRISTIN) but not for this movie. She looks too young. I know Lisbeth is 24 but she's been through some things and looks 30. (Noomi is in her 30s) I like the Kate Moennig idea because she looks like an older Kristin and she can pull off the part. (I mentioned Kristin because she's in the running due to her look, Kate has the same look, but her age is more appropriate) Natalie Portman can pull this off as well. I still like my original picks though.

    37. 137

what's wrong with kristen stewart? i love her! she'd be great for any part.

    38. 138

      amen!

    39. 139

all three of the films have been made… FUCK YOU AMERICAN!!!! YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN BEAT TO THIS. none of your shitty actresses can beat the original….

    40. 140

KRISTEN, she would ROCK the SHIT out of this role.

    41. 141

I have an idea, why don't they show a little respect for the fine Swedish filmmakers and leave this absolute classic the fuck alone???????
Ellen Page would just have to reprise her Hard Candy role, Carey is too sweet, KStew isn't subtle enough (though if Brad Pitt is truly in the running for Blomkvist subtlety won't matter) and Mia Whatserkowska is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. Seriously Hollywood, leave this one alone!!!!!!!

    42. 142

Re: RedHeadFashionista – Couldn't agree with you more!!

    43. 143

it is so clear here that anyone who even suggests any one of these girls, or "the blonde girls" or " anyone but kirsten" has NOT read the books or seen the movies. Lisbeth is like the darkest person you can find alive , she is badass for real and does not have a "pretty gooiggoooii babydoll face" like these actors. the best of them is actually kirsten when it comes to the face, but the acting- no. who is mia? hope shes badass, or at least looks it. hollywood is ruining GOOD movies/stories…

    44. 144

Re: poorlittlerichiegirl – hahaha how can we not generalize americans? aren't they making the movie because you stupid f**ks will go and see it?

    45. 145

I'm not sure Kristen Stewart has the ability to play the girl with the dragon tattoo. She can't exactly spend the entire movie looking awkward and chewing on her lip in a corner while her more talented costars make up for her lack of presence. Then again, if she landed this role, it might give her a chance to display real talent, if any exists?

    46. 146

Re: azulle – Hate is a very strong word on someone you never meet and never done anything wrong against someone. Just saying

    47. 147

I actually think the girl on the cover of the book (yes, i know we can't see her whole face) looks a lot like kristen stewart. just the profile of her face and what we can see.

    48. 148

kristen kreuk should play the part

    49. 149

These are swedish books and films, the role of Lisbeth Sallander is played by Noomi Rapace and it belongs to her, It will be very very extremely weird if there's going to be made an american hollywood film out the books and already pictured movies.
but if there will be, it better be good, and only K-stew will be perfect for that role, because she already has that edge to her, and she's a great actres and has the face and the body that fits well with the description of Lisbeth Salander

    50. 150

Re: Emilie-Avrilfan – but Kate moenning will also do, she also has the look and the edge :)

    51. 151

Re: rockstar93 – yes, these are swedish films, there's three of them, I love them, about everyone I know read the books as well, they say they're real good, so I think I'll read them too. ;)
