Travel Back To Sweet Valley

sweeet.jpg

If your were a girlie of the 80s/early 90s, you belonged to one of two camps: lovers of Babysitter's Club or Sweet Valley High.

If you were Team Sweet Valley, you envied the BSC girls for their fun trips and sense of fiscal responsibility. If you were a BSC girl, you envied the Sweet Valley girls because they were cooler. Period.

So for you, Sweet Valley girls, we bring you good news - the twins are back!

Francine Pascal has traveled 10 years into the future with the characters that made her a millionaire and is starting a new line of books about Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield.

We don't want to give too much away, but let's just say things are not what they used to be for the girls. For one, they both don't live in Sweet Valley (GASP!)and as we understand it, they don't even like each other anymore! (Double GASP!)

The first of the new line of books, Sweet Valley Confidential: Ten Years Later, is set to hit the shelves in 2011.

Just goes to show you that a good franchise never dies! (Suck on that, Babysitter's Club!)

    huh??

  3. 3

Actually, Ann M. Martin released a prequal to the BSC last April, and she's starting over with a new generation of kids. Francine Pascal is actually a bit late.

  4. 4

LOL WOW Perez, i used to read all of these books loved them…you just brought me back to childhood..love it….

  5. 5

I need to get into the Sweet Valley High series sometime. I've always read the BSC books since I was in grade school and now am collecting a lot of BSC books from discount stores and whatnot. xD

  6. 6

you read them all didn't you fat boy. hiding in your room, stuffing your face, dreaming of having a blossoming pair of titties.

  7. 7

LOVE SVH! Although, shouldn't it be 20 years later? I hope one of the gals got pregnant during freshman year and is now living with her loser husband and four kids wishing she'd gotten her degree. THAT would be realistic!

  8. 8

I read both and loves both. :( God, I am old.

  9. 9

My kid reads The Babysitters Club new graphic novels. They've been around for years. SVH is riding TBC's coattails.

The little girl inside me just screamed with joy!! I used to LOVE SVH books (AND BSC…lol I was a traitor to both camps) and this seems like a really cute idea. I hate to admit…but just reading what may be in the books got me excited! Going to have to pick these up to read!

  11. 11

    It's BSC, not BBC!

  12. 12

I read and loved both series! I may have to pick this one up when it comes out!

  13. 13

Man, I used to read the sweet valley twins, then high stories. It'll be cool to read the new one

  14. 14

Perez, BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation. The Babysitters Club was also known as the BSC.

  15. 15

I always read both, same with RL Stine and Christopher Pike. Ah Memory Lane, I'm definitely going to check these out.

  16. 16

Meh. Didn't care for the fluff of either series when I was a kid, but especially not Sweet Valley High. There is plenty of other great young adult literature out there that I'd rather see make a comeback…SVH was mediocre at best.

  17. 17

    BSC BSC BSC. Moron.

  18. 18

Um, Francine Pascal isn't a real person, and Jessica and Elizabeth never liked each other. Gues the person writing for Perez was a BSC fan.

  19. 19

Never read the books, but the two chicks on the Sweet Valley High TV show were effin' HOT

  20. 20

Sweet Valley High takes me back! I used to have them all, no idea here they've gone now though.

  21. 21

Ha! Yeah! Take that the Baby Sitters Club! In your baby sitting faces!!! What I really mean to say is: Fuck you Mario('s sister) for 'reporting' such a stupid story.

  22. 22

Omg sweet valley high and babysitters club!! Thanks Perez for bringing back good memories love you!!

  23. 23

yeah more bsc stuff did come out so whatever. was a dieheard bsc fan but didn't mind sweet valley. read on that article, they'll be 27 only.

  24. 24

Re: katiep23 – umm francine pascal is a real person

  25. 25

my classmates, friends and sister made me suffer through these books and though i was a "girlie" growing up in the 80s 90s" i never liked any of these books

  26. 26

Actually I like both but I agreed that SVH was way cooler and more fashionable.

  27. 27

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i read all of the Sweet Valley High books and all of the Sweet Valley University books! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

  28. 28

as a kid/tween in the 90's, i read everything from SV Kids, SV Twins, SVH and SVU. i even watched the series. haha.

I've always been part of the BBC camp. All of the plots to SVH seemed the same to me. But still, too funny. Love it.

Sorry Perez, but you're WAY behind the times. Ann M. Martin released a prequal to the BSC last April, and she's starting over with a new generation of kids today. Long live BSC… SVH was BORING!!

  31. 31

    Shouldn't be 20 years????

  32. 32

OMG! That's amazing. Yep, I read twins and was I ever more obsessed then high then SVU but I loved Sweet Valley Twins the most. Don't know why!? They seemed kooler in middle school? lol. Or maybe they looked better on the cover in middle school and their highschool cover always looked like thirty year olds. To me, anyway. (lol) I loved Babysitters Club even though they were soooo boring and I remember having to force myself to read through certain books. But yes I did envy the little group they had and their relationship with all the children and their parents. Such a warm, happy setting! I'm totally going to read this!

  33. 33

My older sister and I had all of the Sweet Valley Twins books. I think we still have them somewhere. I want to reread them now. They were just that good. I never did care for The Babysitter's Club.

  34. 34

Re: katiep23 – Francine created the book series but she didn't write them. The author of each book is listed on the inside. Maybe that's why you don't think she is real.

  35. 35

Re: littlemichelley – Loved, loved, loved R.L. Stine books! I really couldn't get in to Christopher Pike, but R.L. Stine always sucked me in.

  36. 36

I always loved the Sweet Valley series, especially Sweet Valley Twins and Sweet Valley University. I didn't really care for The Babysitter's Club and thought it was rather boring. I loved Sweet Valley High soooooooooo much better.
