The JoBros Cover The Beatles!

| Filed under: Music MinutePaul McCartneyJonas Brothers

What a nice little tribute!

Check out this pretty cool footage of the Jonas Brothers preparing for their performance of The Beatles classic Drive My Car for Paul McCartney's Gershwin Prize Concert at the White House!

Obviously, they don't hold a candle to the original, but they do a pretty decent job!

Click ahead to the 3:50 mark if you just want to hear the song, but there's some pretty inneresting behind-the-scenes footage before that if you want to check it out!

So wrong in so many ways.

  2. 2

Historically American Presidents up until the end of the 20th century exude a level of authority that is not to be trifled with, this one seems to enjoy being surrounded by 'stars' and the spotlight. Really Mr. President, don't you have something more important to do?

  3. 3

love it, great video from cambio ;) they sound great!

  4. 4

its no surprise to me, ive always known they have complete talent:)

  5. 5

This is SO wrong. What's next ? A Rolling Stones cover by Miley Cyrus or a Led Zeppelin tribute album by Justin Bieber ?

  6. 6

I thought this would suck but i actually like it.

  7. 7

Oh shit not again. Remember that horrendous Target commercial they did with Hello Goodbye? These little boys can't sing and if it wasn't for that Miley tour they did, we would have never known them. Damn you Miley!

  8. 8

haters are so ignorant, dumb and small minded…. they do not have the brain capacity to see the Jonas Brothers as more than 'tween pop stars'

  9. 9

John and George are rolling over in their graves right about now.

  10. 10

wow, they actually didn't embarrass themselves. That was pretty damn good!

  11. 11

As a LONG TIME Beatle fan, I thought they did a great job. What's not to like? They can play their own instruments, they sing in tune and sound good.

The Beatles are overrated- Drive My Car sucks. Who cares how they covered it? Bands like The Rolling Stones are better - but it's PC to say the Beatles are the best.

  14. 14

That's McCartney's band playing backup. WTF. And how much did this cost the American public? Worst President ever

  15. 15

    Not First!!

"Obviously, they don't hold a candle to the original, but they do a pretty decent job!"

lol…i bet perez didn't even know this song exited before today…
i think it was a good cover, this coming from a huge beatles fan…besides when Sir Paul McCartney ASKS you to cover his songs, damn it!…you do it.

  16. 16

    oh the horror.terrible.

  17. 17

meh didnt sound bad at all.

  18. 18

I just died a little inside.

  19. 19

This is the second time theyve covered the Beatles, Perez.
They did a wonderful job. Sir. Paul loved it.

  20. 20

Jonas Brothers did amazing! This was really good; I felt a little like being transported back to the Beatle days. And I was around then for the original.

Good job guys. Joe especially just rocked out and sounded awesome. Nick and Kev rocked those guitars.

  21. 21

Wow.. Amazing!! I really loved it and Im really proud to be called a Jonas Fan!!*

Re: PatsFan25 – The Jonas Brothers have talent. They create really good sounds and they have fans of all ages. I am glad that you recognize their talent and spoke up for it here. But the thing is your comment just shows that people 'expect' them not to be talented and simply dismiss them because they did start with a younger audience, do have millions of adoring teen fans, and were signed by Hollywood Records (Disney).

There are lots of us who didn't expect them to 'embarass themselves' and have been following their career and giving their music a strong listen too. Not every song an artist makes is gold, but they have lots of good songs.

Anyway it's nice to see a few more folks can hear them through this cover, rather than dismiss them through their 'good reputation' and see they are talented.

I was preparing myself for a train wreck but it was surprisingly pretty good. They performed to honor Paul McCartney, they weren't trying to steal the song and make it out like they could do better. I think they did the best they could with a song from a group that no one really should cover, and they did a great job. It was quite easy on the ears.

  24. 24

i'm surprised. that was pretty good.

  25. 25

the only good thing about this was seeing jack white in the background

  26. 26

Hate it, no one can be as good as the Beatles.
Don't like the Jonas Brothers, never have, never will

  27. 27

If for no other reason, and there are other reasons, these guys should get some respect for striking Sir Paul's fancy. Pretty much every bad comment is going against the opinion of one of the world's greatest writers and musicians. As with the Beatles, maybe teenage girls were only the first to discover greatness.

  28. 28

The Beatles are just as manufactured as the Jonas brothers, there is nothing new under the sun.

  29. 29

Disney has to ruin everything? :|

  30. 30

Re: Her Majesty – "Has Disney ruined everything?" I'm guessing you didn't actually watch it because Sir Paul INVITED them himself and specifically asked them to perform and 'gave' them Drive My Car to perform. They did a great job.

  31. 31

    I saw JACK WHITE!!! yummy

  32. 32

I hate the Beatles but like Jonas.

  33. 33

terrible… just like that fucking target commercial

  34. 34

how these guys make it with vocals like that is unbelievable….the worst singers …. ive heard chessy cover bands sound better that this. what a joke

  35. 35

they sound AMAZING :) as a Beatles and Jonas Brothers fan, this is just awesome :)

  36. 36

    Re: Roccomagoo

I agree that the Rolling Stones and other British Invasion bands are some of the best, but The Beatles definitely started a revolution. I don't think you understand how much they affected and changed music around the world.

"Drive My Car" is not one of my favorites by them, but I can still respect the song because The Beatles sung it.

  37. 37

  38. 38

I don't think it was terrible, but definitely not as good as the Beatles themselves. But, what I don't understand is why Joe Jonas doesn't just sing instead of grunting everytime he starts.

  39. 39

they were AMAZING ! so so SO proud of them =) GET LOST HATERS!

  40. 40

I'm so proud of them. To be INVITED by Sir Paul McCartney to perform at a tribute to him is a huge honor, and they certainly lived up to it. LOL at the haters in here who are calling it terrible, because I'm quite certain you didn't even watch it. You're just assuming. Note all the people here who were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. If you watch the video, the brothers explained why they never wanted to cover a Beatles song, but the 2 times they have done so (this song, and Hello Goodbye for Target) were exceptional circumstances where they were asked and couldn't refuse. The list of performers at this event was very short, but Jonas Brothers were on it, and they more than held their own. But haters will hate, and that's their problem.

That was fun, and a lot livelier than most of the other renditions.

  42. 42

They always pull everything off so well. They seem to get more &more talented. Their music is always refreshing! Jonas Fan forever

  43. 43

imm a huge beatles fan, and not so much of the jonas brothers. but you gotta admit they did a pretty good job. admit it, if they were unknown and you came across this video on youutube, all you haters would say its pretty good. no one can just listen to a song anymore without judging it because of the artists rep. theres the kids that like certain music b/c its popular and thats what everyone else likes and the others that strive to be different and fill their ipods with unknown artists, heaven forbid they find a song on there that has been played on the radio. talents talent so get OVER YOURSELVES.
yup just wasted my time writing a paragraph on nothing that no one else will ever waste their time reading. but to whoever read all the way up to this sentence THANKS (:
