RiRi Talks Specifics About Eminem Abuse Song

We still hate the message of the song, but we guess if it helped them both face their pasts, it's alright.
Rihanna's duet with Eminem, Love the Way You Lie, is sitting comfortably on the charts and is being played across the nation on every station imaginable. Still, we wondered why Rihanna would agree to sing on such a violent track after the now infamous incident with Chris Brown.
RiRi explained her reasons in a recent interview, saying:
“It’s something that, you know, we’ve both experienced, you know, on different sides, different ends of the table. He pretty much just broke down the cycle of domestic violence and it’s something that people don’t have a lot of insight on….The lyrics were so deep, so beautiful and intense. It’s something that I understood, something I connected with."
There is something rather powerful about the song.
Still, the dark times are behind you. Can we get back to the poppy-R&B fun shiz we fell in love with???

how ironic - a bunch of wannabe's…..a wannabe gansta, a wannabe singer and a wanna be "journalist"………..
-
She's a brainless twat. He's a closeted homo with mommy issues. Neither have any talent.
-
The fun shiz is she's doing a movie with Alexander Skarsgard!!
ummm???? whats wrong with two very talented people sharing their very personal stories and making it into a powerful and emotional song? not to mention its a fucking hit. do any of you have any brains.
Re: CHOmyGod – currently speaking, you're the minority - get a clue.
I think it's bit cathardic for the both of them to purge that way - I agree, after this round we'll have the fun RiRi back!!!
Really? Who considers these assclowns relevant?!
I actually love the message of the song….gets you inside the head of an abuser. You hear his words saying he's sorry, he'll never do it again, blah blah blah; then you hear his thoughts: he knows he's a liar and he would go so far as to kill her. Also gets you inside the head of the abused…"love the way you lie…" focus on the words he says, not the actions. Powerful, indeed.
your personal commentary has me one more step closer to another break from visiting your site….
seriously… you hate the message of the song??? you probably don't get it at all.
seriously, it's really hard to respect you as a journalist when you just rattle off stupid comments based on shallow understandings of what you are posting about.
it's so annoying how you attack these amazing artists that are making a huge statement with this song.
you make me sick
Re: CHOmyGod – exactly.
perez is stupid, he clearly doesn't get the song and just has some personal vendetta against eminem for whatever reason
and whoever says eminem is not talented is completely clueless… Em is a brilliant lyricist and one of the best artists of our time
Perez, as someone who has been a victim of partner abuse, I can tell you that this will never be behind her. It is a part of her.
20 years ago I was in an abusive relationship. I came from a good family with no abuse and he was a popular good looking guy everyone loved. When I left him and told my family what was happening no one could believe I had put up with it for 3 years. I have tried every way imaginable to explain the dynamic on both sides but unless you have been there you can't really understand. Now 20 years later I am happily married and have not had any abuse since. I am not particularly a fan of either Rihanna or Eminem BUT….. the first time I heard this song, 20 years after my experiences, I cried. I just called my mom and sisters and told them to play it and really listen …… now they understand as much as anyone who is not in the situation can……. Yes, the song is uncomfortably violent on his side and the way she participates and accepts it is hard to accept BUT…… it's the truth about the dynamic … at least from my experience…… just my 2 cents…. Happy Wednesday everyone.
C'ya RiRi.Your phoney act has run its course.
"Can we get back to the poppy-R&B fun shiz we fell in love with???"
No. I'm sick of music being meaningless utter garbage. If you want pop fun jingles, that shit should be limited to commercials.
Can we please have music be a real artform again? MUSIC. Not fashion, not "being cool", but actual compositions that took some freaking brain power?
I don't know about you, but I like art to move me. "Poppy shiz" is not art, it's design.
Rihanna's words in that song still bother me when I hear it on the radio. If you don't comprehend what they are talking about it's not going to be understood by a lot of people and especially kids.
Rihanna is an abuser too. She attacked Chris Brown first. Oh yeah while he was driving. lol. Victim my ass.
Eminem always has to rap about some disgusting violent shit to try to be shocking, and Rihanna is riding on his coattails. It's as simple as that. Has-beens!!
Rihanna is a dumb fuck and doesn't understand the song at all. Yet she sings it.
Dark times will never be behind that crazy bitch.
YEAH, BECAUSE ALL MARIO LIKES ARE SONGS ABOUT DISCO STICKS AND TELEPHONES, YOU KNOW, SHALLOW THINGS LIKE HIM! HE CAN'T WRAP HIS BRAIN AROUND ANYTHING THAT IS DEEP OR HAS MEANING, SINCE HE IS A BOTTOM FEEDING WORM THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE OF EMPATHY TO "GET IT"! PLUS HE CAN'T RELATE TO ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH LOVE SINCE HE HAS NO ONE AND HAS NO SOUL!
Re: Sarah FAILin – EXACTLY! AND LOVE YOU MONIKER, KEEP IT UP HONEY!
Re: Lady_Saccharine_Sweetness – SHE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE THE VICTIM AND EVEN SAID THAT HER TEMPER WAS JUST AS BAD, IT WAS BOTH OF THEM. YOUNG LOVE, IT HAPPENS TO A LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW HOW TO CONTROL OR DEAL WITH THE STRONG EMOTIONS THEY HAVE. GET OVER IT HONEY! SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE THE ONE NOT LETTING IT GO…
If it's therapeutic for her, then why do you have to knock it, Mario?!?! The memories of abuse NEVER go away… And, if you keep trying to push them down deep, it will just be even harder in the long run… Good for her putting it out there like that…and who better to team up with, than Em?! He's been abused AND has abused, so you're getting it from all sides…not the typical one-sided story… And, maybe this song will be therapeutic for others that have been in these situations, as well…
O and riri is about as intelligent as a post. She needs to go spend some of that money she's making on a formal education. She's a total tool of the record companies, and the way they used her for this song is just wrong. Corporate is totally chuckling to the bank on this one.
But seriously EDUCATION…. that child is dumb. At least Gaga is well educated and classically trained.
Wow. Hm.
Guys its about abuse. and if you listen its very powerful song, I use to always wonder, Why doesnt the victim of the abuse just flee from the relationship…. but i know now that its hard because they still love the person. This song sums up everything.
Rhianna is a retard. she kept quiet except for when money was offered about what happened between her and chris brown. so, the moral of the story is that she basically just exploited that incident for what would be a hit song and…..MORE MONEY. the lyrics in that song are retarded. you like getting abused? you like getting burned? sounds pretty fucking reasonable to me.
Starting to believe she doesn't really think too much. Or she puts $ before anything-whatever sells and has a good beat. She isn't the brightest and I don't think she cares for speaking up for others that have suffered abuse-it is all about her.
if "young love" is about not being able to control emotions and rhianna's temper is just as bad as chris's. then why in the hell does she have a (shiteous) career and he can't even have that? hmmm?
The song is genius, Perez, and just as Em said, no one else could have sung the hook for this song better than Rihanna, having actually went through that experience. It made perfect sense for her to be on it. This is what I love about Eminem. He takes it all the way there, everytime. This song is so intense and it really puts you in the mind frame of both the abuser and the abused. Brilliant!
"Can we get back to the poppy-R&B fun shiz we fell in love with???"
No, because this is RAP, not R&B.
does he ever get tired of "rapping" about how emotionally deep he is when he's beating up on a chick? if rihanna is going to support this idiot, why not just do a duet with chris brown? same difference, right? i used to feel bad for her, but she puts one man down and supports another for the same thing. makes no sense. they're both hypocrites. and perez is an idiot..just because. it being a wednesday is a good enough reason to call him an idiot.
love the song! His new album is amazing.
Re: StuntMom – …eh, eminem has never beaten up his wife. if so, he would've already been charged with their very public violence and verbal abuse hurled at each other. it's a song. you're pretty shallow to take it 100% literally. :\ his songs tell a story which resonates with a lot of people's own dysfunctional and abusive relationships. it gives people to examine their relationships. step away or fall back in. if you think this song is encouraging such relationships (which a lot of people do take it the wrong way), i have no comments about the level of your intelligence. it's better left unsaid. also chris brown is legally banned from making any contact with rihanna for 5 years. anyway most articles about celebs are shallow and stupid anyway, and perez pink hilton takes the cake. bah i hardly comment ever and it's pointless talking to nimrods so i'm done. my first and final comment.
wow perez. i am beginning to think u truly r an idiot.
I am glad they both speak up about domestic abuse. It is rather empowering and personally, I think you should keep your comments to yourself Perez.
if you never been in an abusive relationship you will never understand the meaning of this song… i like this song cause its a rare look into the abuse…
oh…we should glorify abuse because that is how domestic abuse should be viewed in society?
Whoever thinks the "message" of this song is bad is a moron. It's telling a violent and dark story, but it's not glamorizing it. It's showing how bad it can get if you stay in an abusive relationship, so DON'T stay in one and DON'T be the abuser either. That's the message.
loveeee eminem..!!!!!!!! love the song..!!!!!!!
I like her "dark" R&B much better that the "poppy-R&B fun shiz" or whatever you called it.
wait! did she call the song beautiful? BS
