Len Wiseman May Direct Total Recall Remake

| Filed under: Film FlickersArnold Schwarzenegger

The remake to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990 sci-fi classic Total Recall finally seems like it’s on its way.

For many years, this proposed remake has been stuck in pre-production hell, but now it appears the film might actually get made, probably because it’s kind of like Inception.

Len Wiseman, director of the Underworld series, Live Free or Die Hard, and the Hawaii-Five O pilot is in talks to direct the remake for Columbia.

The plot, which is based on a Phillip K. Dick story, revolves around a man who wants to travel to Mars, and buys an implanted memory of a dream vacation to the planet. Hmm…memory alterations? Cough…Inception…Cough.

As the movie progresses, it becomes increasingly unclear as to whether or not our hero is in a dream or reality.

Are you intrigued? If so, you should go see Inception…….and this too when it comes out, we suppose.

Total Recall came LONG before Inception you complete fucking moron. I swear you get dumber every freakin' day Perez.

  2. 2

This classic should not be remade. Arnold was perfection.

  3. 3

How can you be ripping off Inception when Total Recall was written over 20 years before?

  4. 4

good thing this is a REMAKE so no need to bring up inception. this movie was made first and it was amazing

I don't read a lot of books but i remember reading this one as a kid, twice. What a cool trip that story was. Arnold made so many bad ass movies….besides this I would like to see The Running Man, but not as a remake but rather a new reality show with Death Row inmates. Arnie could balance California's budget in a month with that idea.

This is ridiculous, the movie came out in 1990 and the effects still hold up today. I can't wait for the remake of LOTR that'll inevitably happen in 10 years by a hack director.

Great. Another unnecessary remake. Once again proving Hollywood's talent bank has dried up.

This is a reeeeeeeally dumb idea. It's been done before and done well Len, so leave it alone. Are there really NO good writers with original ideas in Hollywood? O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L, as in hasn't been done before! And don't even try to compare Inception to this story.

On a different note, what's up with this dude's face? His mouth doesn't go w/ the rest of it. Ew, ugly ugs.

Underworld and Live Free or Die hard? Just save everyone the trouble and flush $100 mil down the toilet.

A remake of Total Recall? Are you fucking serious.
And people, stop saying Hollywood is fresh out of ideas, because it isn't. I'm sure there are plenty of original scripts floating around, but they won't make a guaranteed quick buck. The real reason there are so many remakes: greed.

    needless remake
    but why bring up inception?

Inception… Yeah.. PKD's novelette "We Can Remember it for you Wholesale" came out in 1966.
Most science fiction that deals with the subjectivity of reality and dreamstates owes a huge debt to PKD. Ripping off Inception? PUH-leaze, suck my Phillip K if you really think that's true!
