Vampire Diaries Goes Gay!
Not right away, but the idea has been put out there!
The Vampire Diaries producer and creator Kevin Williamson has expressed fervent interest in getting a gay character on the show. He knows he wants to do it. He knows he is going to do it. He just has no idea when, where and more importantly, who it is going to be. While on the press circuit this week for the show, he explained:
"I'm sitting in the wings waiting. I'm waiting. Which character can be gay? Which character won't? Where will it fit in? How can I get the gay character in? I don't want to sound like I'm a militant about it, like THERE MUST BE A GAY CHARACTER, even though I am. It's not just that, it's also diversity. I always feel like I don't have enough diversity on my show, and that is one of the things I'm very conscientious of, and not just gay characters. Any diversity. In anything, I want everyone represented. I want everybody on the show."
However, as much as he wants to include a gay character in his vampy world, he also doesn't want the character to have a whole "coming out" arc. As he puts it, the story would be to reminiscent of what he did on Dawson's Creek:
"I don't want to do a coming-out story. I did it on Dawson's Creek. As much as I'd like to do [a gay story], I want it to be fresh, and I'd want to do it in a new way. I don't know what that way is. We've seen it. We've seen it on countless shows. I've done my coming-out story, and I was very proud of it, and I don't know what it would be."
You'll find a way to make it work, Kevin. You're a brilliant write; we have faith.
But now, let's see. Who could the resident gay turn out to be? Can't be the Elena or her vampire brother beaus. (Damn!) He could always bring in a whole new character to fill the void.
Or maybe, just maybe…. Hey, Kat Graham, you up for it?!

Btw Nina should miss Degrassi because even with the new cast , its better then the Vampire Diaries.When it comes to Vampires ill just stick to Twilight and True Blood.
I don't think they should make one of the original characters from the books gay. Jeremy is not in the books though, so could be him (what a hot gay would it be!)
wow really,does every show have to have a gay character???i mean every SHOW has a gay character…anyways i hate how they portray gay characters….there all so promiscuous like true blood all the characters sleep with alot of people…..i woulnt be surprised if there gay character was a sex crazed vampire
I love vampires diaries!!! I believe there should be 1 or some gay characters on the show.
I have been supecting that the macho Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) could or should be gay. I do know that something is wrong with him. I think he is a warewolf or something.
it should be Tyler and Jeremy. there has always been something odd/off and attrective between them. hahahaha
i'm with perez on this one…bonnie would make a good gay character. i mean, they're both such good friends and she is so overly protective of elena. that'd be a nice twist in the love triangle between damon, stephan, and elena.
by the way, blahblah12, i love degrassi and all, but it's definitely not better than vampire diaries. i don't know what you're smoking. lol
I've never watched the show but just looking at the pics of the guys on it, I thought they were all gay already.

It's probably going to be Michael Trevino's character and Elena's brother… The producers have said they will share a "very special bond" on season 2 over the changes they'll be experiencing…
please god no every tv show has been doing that lately. maybe omse shows are okay but this is disgusting, not everyone needs an image of that. why wont they stay a little more tru to the books and also i htink the author should have a say in this too.
I think it's beyond annoying how every freakin tv show out there is going out of their way to put a gay character in it! Just so the over sensitive cry babies don't go around whining that it's discriminating against gay people.

the acteress who plays bonnies great great something grandmother is lessbian on pretty little liars. but if bonnies gay it would just be wrong cause shes a main.
NONE of the main cast including Bonnie. I wished he really would not bring in a gay character. I mean I love gay people but they do not need to copy off of every show. It wasn't in the book and why is he even thinking about doing it??? Because of TB???? I think it is really lame. If he wants to add more diversity. How about a good looking Hawaian or Hispanic, nice looking black guy, a Asian guy hook him up with Bonnie…THAT would be HAWT!!!!
How about Jeremy first turn into a vampire, and then discovering he likes male vampires? And have him kiss…say….Damon?
