Arcade Fire And Spike Jonze Go Sci-Fi

Lately, The Arcade Fire are ablaze!

Their new album, The Suburbs, was released today, they’ve got a live Youtube concert on Thursday, and now they’re teaming up with Spike Jonze to make a sci-fi short film!

Here’s what Arcade Fire’s Win Butler had to say about the collaboration:

"Basically, we played Spike some music from the album and the first images that came to his mind had the same feeling as this idea for a science fiction film I had when I was younger. My brother and I and Spike wrote it together, which was really fun — it was like total amateur hour.”

And more from Butler:

"We shot it in Austin and a lot of kids are in the film, and it was great just hanging out with these 15-year-olds for a week and writing down all the funny things they said. It was cool to revert to being a 15-year-old for a little while."

We couldn’t get Arcade Fire’s song Wake Up out of our heads after all those Where the Wild Things Are trailers earlier this year. Should be interesting to see if this project has a similar impact.

You are missing out on one of the most AMAZING bands ever. There is more to Arcade Fire than "Wake Up". And, that is not Win Butler in the picture.

Seriously, WHO is that in the picture on the right? One of the other nameless Arcade Fire members?

I like how you pretend to know stuff about this band, yet you called it "The Arcade Fire" once in this article, and you put a picture of a band member other than the one you are quoting in this post. Stop pretending to like actually good music, and go back to promoting Lady Gaga and Sliimy.

Re: Ashton – I believe that's Richard Parry. He plays several instruments in the band. He's one of the more prominent members of the band; I just watched an interview with the band yesterday and it was with him, Regine, and Win.

Perez, when you quote the member of a band, at least make sure you put a picture of the right person to go with it! This is Richard Reed Parry, not Win Butler…
