Lil Wayne Only Listens To Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne does NOT believe that variety is the spice of life.

Throughout his entire one year jail sentence in New York for gun charges, Lil Wayne has refused to listen to any music.

Here’s what Wayne had to say about the lack of music in his cell:

"I'll be very honest, I don't listen to no music. All I listen to all day, if I am listening to anything, is sports."

And more from Wayne:

"And that ain't because of nothing, just the simple fact that I've never listened to anyone else's music but my own, and since I'm not able to do that up in here, I don't listen to anything. I don't listen to nothing but my thoughts."

How far does this narcissism go? Does he wear earplugs when people try to sing Happy Birthday to him? Does he always take stairs in an effort to avoid elevator music? Movies have music in them…does that mean he has to watch movies on mute?

this doesnt shock me at all.

That explains why his music is horrible….well, even if he did listen to other music he would probably still suck.

I have a friend who's a very talented musician, and there isn't a lot of music he likes to listen to. I think it's because there's music he's creating in his head all the time, and the other stuff just gets in the way. Not that Lil' Wayne is the musician of our decade or anything, but it's a comment on the brain of some musicians.

Never listened to anybody else's music? Never? For once, Hilton has it right: There appears to be no limit to his narcissism. Well, I for one have listened to his "music" and can say that it is utterly derivative of all techno-rap music. He is completely mainstream, and frankly, his stuff sounds childish. Go to any strip club and try to discern which artist is which. Stuff all sounds the same. Be glad someone cares about your "art", because you have no talent - just a look. Flash over substance; that's all this rap shit is and has been almost since the beginning. Just a flash in the pan…no one will be playing this shit in 30 years and going "yeah, this was one of the great ones…"

It is totally incorrect that musicians don't have the need to listen to music, arrogant asses who have more sizzurp than talent don't, but any real musician would enjoy other people's work. Why should he be invited to the Grammys, isn't that night about celebrating other artists, how can he even exist without the rest of the industry?

Re: Johnsonbrewster – I agree with #4, although I do think that there are some rappers that will be remembered in 30 years i.e. The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Nas, Eminem, Run DMC, LL Cool J. I believe that if you're good at what you do you will never be forgotten, but if you write raps like Soulja Boy, Bow Wow, Pitbull and Waka Flocka you should be ashamed of yourselves.

His ears are damaged from years of listening to his own songs. Poor thing.

Hmmm that's weird because I seem to remember another article about him a few months ago where he was quoted saying that he liked the new stuff trey songz was coming out with. That would make him a narccisist AND a liar.

I find this really hard to believe. He has a bunch of songs with lines from other artist's songs, plus half of his mixtape music is beats from other people too.

It's complete utter bullsh!t. He released a message to his fan via his website & said he's heard his group, Young Money, on the radio. He also stated that he's heard them on the radio doing their own thing. There's no assistant to call him up and say, "Wayne, you've got Young Money on the radio, tune in." So he has to be sitting there listening to the radio for quite some time.

This loser sounds positively retarded. His mother must have done major drugs when she was knocked up by his obviously absentee father. Typical.

Re: B-Rittny – well that probably only means that someone else is writing his songs for him.

    This is no secret…
Lil Wayne has said for years that he only listens to Lil Wayne.
It's not self-centered…that's how he improves his craft. He's way more serious about his music than a lot of hip hop artists out there are. He is extremely, extremely dedicated.
