Real Life Polygamy Comes To T.V.!
Watch your weave, Kate Gosselin! There is a new show premiering on TLC and it seems they've got you beat in the multiples department.
You may have a crate full of kiddies, but this new show has 16 kids, 4 wives and one happy papa polygamist!
That's right, polygamist! TLC is changing things up!
This September, the network will premiere its new show, Sister Wives, which follows the lives of a polygamist family in Utah. Papa Kody has himself three wives, Meri, Janelle and Christine, who have birthed him 13 kids. When the show premieres, folks will see Kody bringing a fourth wife into the fold, who already has three children of her own
Wowza! Talk about 20 and counting! (Bet the Duggars are feeling the heat too!)
Apparently, the motivation behind the family agreeing to televise their lifestyle was to seek a change in the secrecy of their situation and find some "understanding."
Of course, we know why TLC wanted this show. It's a ratings gold mine educational. (TLC - The Learning Channel, remember?)
Well, this could be the end of your longtime run as TLC queen Kate.

Hmmm….I think I might like to see this. My interest is simply how they afford all of the children they have. I know members of the FLDS church are nortorious for receiving WIC and food stamps. And I really just can't get behind that. It's their choice to live the way they do but no one should have kids if you can't afford them.
I was critical of the Duggar family as well because I thought they were doing the same thing. Now that I realize they are not, they can have as many kids as they want so long as they are well taken care of.
I could care less what people do so long as it doesn't involve the tax money I pay.

You only really hear of polygamy being in the news (for legal issues) for underage 'wives', rape, etc.
Since by law you can only be married to one person how does he have four wives? What he has is four baby mommas nothing really interesting about that.

Any state that allows gay marriage should allow polygamy, so, while I don't agree with it, I guess they should have a right to marry who they want to, just like the gays.
TLC exploits people in my opinion. I blocked TLC ever ever since they re picked up Nightmare Kate who pimps out her kids for her luxury items.
Why promote this type of lifestyle?
Or promote women that are treating their uteruses like clown cars for that matter?
Of course everyone has a right to their beliefs and living their lives the way they want to. But does anyone think about the psychological health ( and sometimes physical *cough* The mother of 19 kids and counting *cough*) of the children involved??
Not only giving all of them enough attention and care, but also signing them up for their lives to be nationally broadcast - without thinking of the future impact it will have on each them or the family dynamic? ( *cough* John and Kate plus 8*cough* ).

I think this is a terrible thing to show the public. Polygamy is illegal for a reason, i think it gives most women a weird complex. I would never let my husband have another women that he treated as his wife. I cant imagine what is spiritual about this, it hink it shows you dont have to commit because you can have 4 wives anyways! I think its messed up and is very expoitive of TLC. I will deff. NOT be turning into this. I guess i just odnt understand the religous and spiritual part of polygamy.
isn't polygama illegal, charge tlc with aiding and abetting criminal activity or maybe the rico act. that would be one way to get these awful types of shows off of tv.

TLC has totally lost my respect. All of their shows (Jon&Kate plus 8, 18 or 19 and counting, little people) exploit people for money and ratings. This has taken it to a whole new level. By showing this new show they are basically accepting the horrible treatment of these women. It is totally degrading to women and shows the worst of our society. TLC seriously should rethink this. It's disgusing

What the fuck is wrong with TLC? Have they lost all reasoning and simply care about ratings??? There is a reason why polygamy is a stigma. It's illegal and if he's officially married to only one, adultry! This man and his family better not be getting paid to live illegaly. Fuck that, maybe I should go and have tons of kids or "marry" more than once so I can have my own show.

this is effing irritating. now the ignoramouses (including a lot of media) of the world will have another show to go 'oh those mormons and polygamy' because they're from utah. mormons do not practice polygamy, its immediate excommunication from the church. im not sure- but i think the FLDS still do. and YES polygamy is illegal. the reason that there is this 'food stamps and welfare' stereotype for polygamists is because only ONE wife is recognized by law- so they get food stamps to pay for the 2+ wives and all their children.

Therefore taking away their voice to have an opinion. Its a patriarchy choice, for obvious reasons. Those men aren't fucking themselves and birthing any children. They are just living in a makeshift whore house in the name of some male-dominated, sick religion/occult.
