Ah-ha! Sneaky, sneaky Emma Watson!

The LOVELY Harry Potter actress recently debuted a much shorter, chic pixie cut, and now it's being reported that part of the reason she went for such a drastic new look is because she's in the running to play the much-coveted role of Lisbeth in the adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo!

A source explains:

"Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part. The character of Lisbeth is a misfit goth-type girl with spikey hair."

Looks like she's seriously trying to break away from Hermione Granger!

Regardless of why she did it, we approve of this new look! She looks fantastic!

What do U think?? Do U think Emma should get the part of Lisbeth??

The hair looks great, but she can't act for toffee. She'd ruin the film.

  2. 2

I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT!!!!!!! I had such a big feeling that Emma cut her hair for a future movie role. I hope Emma get's this role. It might really give her credibility as a serious actor and get her away from the HP francihse.

Now, I know Emma's not a great actor. I mean, she went into the HP movies with no experience, and for someone who HAD no experience, she did a hell of a job, and she's getting praised for her acting now because it's getting better. MTV called Emma's acting (along with Dan and Rupert) PHENOMINAL! PHENOMINAL, EVERYONE, PHENOMINAL! Emma has said she goes to drama schools, and she's getting much better. I think she could do this. If this article is true-EMMA, GET THE PART. BE IN THAT DRAGON TATTOO MOVIE!!! YOU'RE GOING TO ROCK AT THAT ROLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear, what are we, nine year olds? What do we think? That this site now resembles my son's Club Penguin website? Sad!

  4. 4

…this movie has already been made…and is out on dvd…perez is an idiot.

  5. 5

I don't think this would be a good role for Emma, the role belongs to Ellen Page, prefect in personality and looks.

  6. 6

I generally like short hair– but maybe it's the angle here or maybe it's not, but she's sooooooooo gorgeous with her longer locks! Not sure I really like this. But if she cut her hair for a role it's more than "just auditioning" she's more likely in the final running. It's hard to put extensions in a 'do that short so she's probably gonna win the role which is fine cos she's amazing! The story doesn't interest me though.

    Emma Watson always looks stunning!

  8. 8

I loveee the books and the swedish version of the film but I don't think Emma Watson is right to play Salander…

  9. 9

Um no . they shouldnt even try and remake the movie. The Orig.l Lisbeth is a hard ass…Not this girl. WAtch the movies and you will see. They are Fantastic!

    NO. WAY!

an anti-social hacker girl with tattoos all over and emma watson? not in a million years.

no other lisbeth than the great noomi lapace, who played the role in the original movies.

i like emma very much but this is just not her role.

  12. 12

she's too young for a cut like it plus although she's gorgeous, it's doesn't really suit her…………

Re: LoveMeSomeRob – they are going to do an american version duh! It has been all over the media!

Emma Watson, looked like a boy with long her and now looks more like a boy with this short her. She cannot pull off a bad girl at all. I think the role should be given to someone knew, like it happens in almost the majority of popular books turned into movies!

  14. 14

Her hair cut looks gorgeous and I think this role would be a great opportunity for her. It will give everyone a chance to see what she is capable of in terms of range so she wont be stuck as Hermione Granger her entire career. Good for her.

  15. 15

dude, that movie is already on dvd !

  16. 16

Re: Kate – The movie you are referring to is the Swedish version with subtitles. It is now being cast for the American version of the movie.

  17. 17

She's totally wrong for the part.

  18. 18

Isn't she in college? Brown University? Shouldn't that be her focus, and save the acting for later?

  19. 19

Re: LoveMeSomeRob – That's the Swedish (original) version, they're making on in the states in English.

  20. 20

She would be great for the role!

  21. 21

Okay to everyone who is saying that the movie is already on DVD, PAY ATTENTION! that's the Swedish (Original) version. But is has been all over the media that they are remaking it in the states in English (I doubt the remake will be anywhere near as good as the original, but oh well).

That said I am currently reading the books and there is no way in hell that I can see Emma in this role. Leave aside the fact that she's an awful actress. There is just nothing about her that fits this role. And not that she cut her hair you can't even say "well maybe she can't act, but at least she's pretty" she looks like a 12 year old boy.

    22

if this movie is already out, then theyre OBVIOUSLY doing a remake like every other movie that is in theatres now DUH!

  23. 23

she is gorgeous and so talented

  24. 24

Naaah, I really hope for K-Stew, Ellen Paige or Natalie Portman. Emma is to young and not enough cool to be Lisbeth.
    Noomi Rapace rules!!

  25. 25

    Or why not Robyn? :)

  26. 26

I love Emma and think she would be great as Lisbeth.

  27. 27

She looks like a boy. go get some extensions. That hair cut is not attractive. It reminds me of Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias.

  28. 28

    no, just no

  29. 29

I still say PINK for the part. It could be her acting debut. Lizbeth has been through some things. She's 24 but looks 34. And the original actress was in her 30s. She's too cute and young for the part, but she might surprise us.

  30. 30

Re: LoveMeSomeRob – This would be a version made in English dipshit.

  31. 31

Since they so stupidly decided to make an American remake and seemingly not going to pick a new face for role, they should get Winona.

  32. 32

Re: LoveMeSomeRob – They are making an American version of the books… get your facts straight before calling someone an idiot

  33. 33

After seeing her performance in The Runaways, I think Kristen Stewart would be a good choice.

  34. 34

Re: Hollywoodstar – k-stew is the same ages as emma

  35. 35

Emma would be an excellent, talented and classy choice. All the actress' mentioned in this post so far (Portman, Page, Stewart) they do not fit the image I have at all. They are easy choices, type cast choices..
Those names do not make me want to see the movie.. Watson..I would be first in line to see her creation.

  36. 36

I dont see her as lisbeth

  37. 37

Joder! No please, Emma Watson for Lisbeth? I would like K-Stew or Carey Mulligan, Emma… no way! she's too cutie, too girly to be Lisbeth. i read the book many many times and i don't see Emma for this role, i'm sorry, but anyone could do it better, even an unknown actress. I love Emma and i love her new look, and if they chose Emma for the role… well, let's see how she does.

  38. 38

I LOVE Emma and I would LOVE to see her play Lisbeth Salander, but she doesn't have TIME! She's in college and they're going to starting filming these movies in October and in Sweden! Plus, Emma's reps just denied it. :(

  39. 39

    Re: ElTailer

Read the books and then re-comment. Carey Mulligan…maybe, but the twilight girl would destroy this role.

Emma has the talent to pull it off, but she would never do it. I think they're going to go with Ellen Page, Natalie Portman, or an unknown.

  40. 40

Like Emma but I don't want her for this role.
Noomi that did the original and irreplaceable also cut her hair but she worked out for over 6 months I think for this part, she even became underweight to get the part. Think she even got some piercings for it.
Emma is good but she looks to sweet in her head and so is her voice. Love her but it's a big NO on her.

  41. 41

Hell no. But it's Hollywood so they will probably cast Miley fucking Cyrus. Also, dear Hollywood, STOP MAKING THESE REMAKES.

  42. 42

Re: TJHeadB – It's not about the name, it's about the one who can bring it and fir for the part by the look and personality.
I think Emma looks and sounds to sweet, she is great actress but she should play Lisbeth. Have you even read the books or even watched the film?
no one can replace Noomi. She have set the bar way to high.

  43. 43

Re: insertsobriquet – I've read the books and seen the films.
Carey is good but she looks to sweet and so goes for Emma.
If someone can pull it of half as good as Noomi did, it's Kristen. I didn't think so when I heard her name but then I saw the Runaways and after seeing her as Joan I changed my mind. But she have already said that she wont be Lisbeth and so have Carey.
The only one that can do Lisbeth good is Noomi herself, she have set the bar to high. So I hope that they take someone unknown, like that will happen ($$$$$$$).

    44

She has the pedigree, and if she can do a believable edgy, I'd say yes.

  45. 45

She'd be great actually! Better than Stewie Puss Puss!

    46

Can brody dalle act.. she a real punk.. and have a dragon tattoo… come on don't ruin the movie.. please find a unknown punk actress.. it does not need to be someone with a name.. she does not look like a punk.

  47. 47

Re: jones19 – Have you even read the books or seen the original movies?
If someone of those two fits it's Kristen, and she would only be half as good as Noomi was as Lisbeth.
Emma is a great actress but she looks to sweet for that part.
Kristen is great too and first after I saw the Runaways where she played Joan and rocked it thought she could maybe fit as Lisbeth. But she wouldn't be the best choice.
Someone unknown or Noomi again would be the best. (Well, the best would be no movie at all but it's all about the $ here)
BTW, her name is Kristen Stewart if you didn't know that already ;)

  48. 48

YES! She should! I have faith she could pull it off, she's a fantastic actress! Give her a chance!

  49. 49

it sucks that america can never accept, that there exist a good movie which wasn't made in the USA.
They have to re-do films again an again. And usually do them worse..

But since they'll do it anyway.. how about casting a new young or at least fresh actress? Who is not related to any big franchise?

  50. 50

The short hair on her looks good. As for Emma playing Lisbeth….I don't know…maybe give her a chance. I rather see her do it the Kristen Stewart. But, I'm glad to hear Kristen is not in the running for the part.

  51. 51

    I like Emma but I don't think she'd fit the part….

  52. 52

no way. a haircut doesn't change the fact that she sucks as an actress. lisbeth is bad ass and all emma watson would do is ruin the movie.

  53. 53

The role deserves a better actress… just unfortunate timing for Emma that they're making it now. Perhaps in a few more years she could do it.

  54. 54

I think Enema should decide if she is oing to be a University student or an actress. I doubt you can do both well at the same time.

  55. 55

if she gets this movie that is another book turned into movie RUINED for me. Along with K Stew, that bitch ruined the twilight movies for me with her horrendous acting, I cringe every time i watch Emmas watson act in Harry potter. If she gets this part it is safe to say that this movie will be ruined with her over the top tring to hard acting style. Ellen Page all the way for the role!!!

  56. 56

i hope she gets the role!
that would be such a good change for her

  57. 57

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and she looks fugly btw… o_O

  58. 58

Ok, to all the people that are saying the movie came out already, it's a swedish movie with their actors, Hollywood is taking it over. And I agree ELLEN PAGE! ELLEN PAGE! ELLEN PAGE!

  59. 59

first off, this is old. she cut her hair over a week ago.
second, i hate it. she used to be so pretty but this haircut just ruins it.

  60. 60

emma watson looks too … soft.
i imagined someone with harder features, and of the people i ve heard are in the running, that would be keira knightley.

  61. 61

She cut it because she was sick of her old style. She had it for 10 years!
    I don't think it's because of an audition…..

  62. 62

I think she looks great… but she must wear something else… in that pic looks like a boy…. girly dress and the cut… perfect

  63. 63

I agree with a few people on here. Lisbeth Salander has had a hell of a life and needs to be rough, tough. Emma Watson, though I am sure she is willing to push herself to get somewhere near rough and tough, is simply too pretty.

I would like to see someone completely new in this role. It would be a shame if the character of Lisbeth becomes overshadowed by the media-personality of whichever celeb plays her. I also think it's a shame that they are re-doing the original films (lets just hope that they stick to the books, Stieg Larsson may be dead but I don't think his narrative should be altered) just because english-speaking people are not used to reading subtitles.

  64. 64

I've heard that she have already said that she isn't going to play Lisbeth.
Heard that Ellen Page have also already said that she isn't going to play Lisbeth.
