Exciting news!

Judge Vaughn Walker will be ruling TODAY on whether or not same-sex couples will be able to get married in California immediately!

According to a source:

If Judge Walker lifts the stay, it is likely it will be appealed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. At the 9th Circuit, it would be reviewed by a 3-person panel and their decision could be appealed to the full 9th Circuit and eventually the US Supreme Court. But because the US Supreme Court is not in session until October, the decision about lifting the stay would be appealed to the Justice in charge, which for the 9th Circuit is Justice Kennedy. We are witnessing history and it is crucial that as we continue to move through the courts, we must build support with the court of public opinion and provide a human face to this issue.

Vaughn has announced that he will make his decision by noon PST today!

Equality for all!

i thought gays were always able to marry in a civil union

I'm laying in bed with my wife last night and she said that John Stamos must be gay because all good looking guys are usually gay. Then she switched the channel and saw your ugly mug! Then I emphazied the word "usually". Then she pointed out how ugly you are and said you probably went gay when the female population rejected you!

  4. 4

Perez must be full of envy at the couples that would get married today.

Let's not fool ourselves here or listen to this fat jerk who owns this site. Gay marriage is wrong and should be stopped. Judge Vaughn is gay as we know so we know what his decision will be. It is up to Justice Kennedy to stop this abomination in its tracks and thankfully he is a conservative for the most part.

Hey Buck, I got my tux ready. What time do you want to meet at the courthouse? :)

  7. 7

marriage is for men and women - look into civil unions………..

I love how these homophobic people HATE perez and HATE gay marriage yet they come on this site (gay mans site) the look at a gay marriage topic, they click it read it and then post a comment about it. Hmmmm idk bout you but if i really didn't like something or someone I sure wouldn't waste my time talking or looking at it. Idiots.

Wow, so many homophobes on this site… You people sicken me.

  10. 10

What is wrong with you people. Do you also think that interracial marriage should be once again banned? Or how about equal rights for blacks? Or voting for women? These are all rights that everyone as humans should have. Love is love. Is this really an argument that you want to make?

  11. 11

I thought California voted on this, but I see that ultimately didn't matter.

  12. 12

    Good! =]

  13. 13

just because one doesn't believe in "gay marriage" doesn't make them a homophobe (talk about labeling people, holy shit). i don't care who your sexual preference is for but if you choose to have a homosexual relationship, you can't get married. like i said, look into civil unions, marriage is between a man and woman.

Re: Poindexter-X – you wouldnt want to marry me, i'm entirely too needy

Re: Lilo lagoon – Wow, shows what kind of people live in this country. Such an asshole. You can disagree with the life a gay person lives (even though we don't choose to live this way), but one should NEVER wish such horrid things on people. I'm annoyed by straight people flaunting their marriages and straight pda, but I never wish anything bad on them. I don't hate them and you shouldn't hate gay people. It's sickening that people like you have a right to vote and an equal say on EQUALITY.

Re: April 20th – It's not a preference. Is being heterosexual a preference? or is it just who you are?

  17. 17

Re: WatcherOne – Voting on laws regarding things other than equal rights (civil rights) should be respected. The fact of the matter is that this is a civil rights issue, so the opinion of voters should not matter. It's kinda like when President Johnson basically said "screw you" to the majority of Americans back in the 60's when he gave blacks a lot more equal rights. The majority surely would have voted against civil rights for blacks, but it took a better understanding for equality and the constitution in order to do something good about it.

  18. 18

Re: April 20th – also, civil unions are not a good option, marriage is the only way to equality. There are well over 1000 rights given to those in marriage that are denied to those in civil unions. "separate, but equal" is not equal AT ALL.

  19. 19

Re: Laroccakiddd – LOL IKR? Homophobes are pathetic people with no lives that try to take their unhappiness and force others to live unhappy. Homophobes are usually gay or bisexual themselves anyway.

  20. 20

I am all for civil unions…just don't call it marriage! I think that is the problem a lot of people have with this.

  21. 21

Re: April 20th – But you can lable me in the catagory of only being able to have a civil union,, how ironic.

  22. 22

Some of you people need to stop acting SO surprised where Perez stands on issues. You spew homophobic rants, yet patronize a gay man's site, some like clockwork. The irony is, you're supporting a gay man's lifestyle and thus enabling him to shout even louder, no matter how times you threaten to never again visit this site. Yes, I disagree with Perez on certain things, particularly the double standards he places on certain celebrities, but I also know what I'm getting into when I visit his site. Wishing AIDS on gay people, yet taking time to create a username and even uploading an avatar on a gay man's site, a site that's probably collecting personal information on you as you type–yeah, you're really smart.

  23. 23

Re: njpaul129 – Excuse me, but why should gay marriage be stopped? Tell me how it in any way affects you if two people of the same sex decide to marry. I have heard many people's reasons for being against it, and honestly, none of them make sense in a place like the United States, where we are supposed to be allowed certain freedoms and rights. The US is supposed to be progressive and advanced, not based on the hypocrisy that we have freedom of religion, yet we have a law solely based on a religion that only some people follow. It doesn't make any sense. Oh and to those who are going on about them being allowed civil unions, why don't you look up the differences between that and marriage, and then come on here and talk about how fair and equal that is.

People should be with who they love no matter what – what business is it of anybody else? As a daughter of a lesbian, I would want her partner (god forbid - not the right word) anything should happen to my Mom to have every right as a next of kin. She is our family. You can marry a complete stranger as a heterosexual no questions asked– appalling!
