The Hoff's Roast: Too Far Or To Be Expected?
Roasts are supposed to be a fun way to take biting jabs at celebs, but comedian Lisa Lampanelli may have gone a bit too far in her roast of David Hasselhoff last night. She made some low-blow jokes that used Jews, blacks, and Haiti as the punch-lines.
Here are a some of the more questionable bits from last night:
“If they would have played [Hasselhoff's] music in Auschwitz the Jews would have sprinted for those ovens.”
“I don’t want to say David drank a lot, but his liver was so black and bloated it could have starred in Precious”
“In fact, George [Hamilton], you're the closest thing to a black we have…although it’s not because of your skin color, it’s because you’re a terrible father and you haven’t worked in 20 years.”
“I love you, Pam [Anderson]. What’s the story with your tits? They’re big, they’re small, they’re big. You’ve had more surgeries than Roger Ebert.”
“We’re here to roast a man whose career has crumbled worse than downtown Haiti.”

I love her! Its what she does. She's the "QUEEN OF MEAN". Everyone knows her work to be more than out there. Her jokes are amazingly funny, and even though they might touch certain serious subjects, she does it in good taste for the sake of comedy. Props to her!

Her jokes are always outrageous and offensive. She's built her career off of that "gimmick".
She's an insult comedian and particularly hardcore, she's always at these roasts and she always says things of this nature. But she insults every group, every minority.
You have to tell jokes like that and take low blows when you aren't funny. Most people are so miserable that they love laughing at others so it's not very hard to make jokes at others' expense. But usually, only untalented comedians will resort to this. True talent does need to stoop so low.
Those all look like average roast jokes to me. In fact, the liver being "black and bloated" and then comparing it to a big black person is an old joke I've heard told a bunch of times. And I've heard far worse. Why is Lisa being singled out?

I have watched a few of her roasts and some of her stand up…she clearly does these kinds of jokes for shock value…but she has no originately. Both standups I saw had the same jokes, at the same places…I dunno, I dont think she is all that funny…mediocre material at best.

roasts are traditionally supposed to be vicious yet funny and just reading those flat lines as if on paper…they come across suprisingly funny and vicious….exactly the intended outcome.
