All the way from New Zealand comes a new band named Zowie that reminds us a lot of The Ting Tings, especially since the Tings haven't released any new music in a painfully long time.

Check out Zowie's Broken Machine (below).

So lovely!

Badass outfit, piece of shit song, sounds like "ke$ha" the overseas version

WOW! That was garbage, plan and simple.

I was expecting something … deeper. Cool but misleading name, and the song title had me pumped for something ala NIN. Sounds like ke$ha, and we don't need another one.

Zowie is fkn awesome. and this video too on www.whoiszowie.com that is wicked.

FUN upbeat pop song - LOVE her boots! my heart has fallen apart you - made it feel brand new…cute

  8. 8

    Sounds like Gwen Stefani.

  9. 9

Blech! That doesn't sound like the Ting Tings, it sounds like that crappy singer Ke$ha.

    sucks

Not gonna lie, being from New Zealand myself, I'm embarrassed about this song. If you want better pop songs (although I personally don't like these either but in comparison to the Broken Machone one) check out Kids of 88- Just a Little Bit, and My House.

I agree asdfgh123! Kids of 88 are great and Dane Rumble is pretty good too. Love being a kiwi =)

  13. 13

I agree.. I'm a kiwi yet havent heard of this!! What about Jay Williams him and dane rumble have some stuff that is more international sounding that most crap from this country! are kids of 88 nzers? sh!t you learn something new each day lol

    than***

  15. 15

Ive never heard of her before now and im a kiwi! Good NZ artists are Dane Rumble, J Williams, Scribe, and Gin Wigmore.

Dane is the absolute best though. Everyone youtube search "Dane Rumble - Everything" or any of his other songs because he is really good and he is starting to become more internationally known.

I went to his album launch party!

  16. 16

never heard of her - i'm a kiwi.

  17. 17

I'm a Kiwi too and I've never heard of her either. Sweeeeeet boots though!
Kids of 88, Computers Want Me Dead and Dane Rumble too I suppose are pretty legit. And Shapeshifter.

  18. 18

Those of you saying you're embarrassed to be from NZ because of this song - get an effin' grip. Like the song or lump it, your being a "kiwi" has absolutely NO effect on Zowie, and thusly her also being from NZ has no effect on you.
New Zealanders have such a bad habit of collectively taking credit / taking offense for things to come out of their country, give it a rest, let people do their own things and try doing something of your own to be proud of eh?

  19. 19

Very Cute! Love her outfit in this pic. Where can i get one???

Re: asdfgh123 – Gee thats harsh. Wat is the link to your music vid then?

  20. 20

mite i add. Dane Rumble? I'm glad you mentioned him - it lets me know not to take you seriously as you people have no taste at all. sad.

  21. 21

Lay off Zowie idiots! You're comparing her to Dane Rumble and Kids of 88? Are you daft? This is probably the honest output from an artist ever!

Im very ashamed to be a KIWI

    Tall Poppy much?

  22. 22

Woah everyone calm down. I never said I was embarrased to be a New Zealander, I'm just saying there are better New Zealand band out there (in MY opinion). Personally I do not like this style of music, nor am I a fan of Kids of 88 or Dane Rumble. I prefer the likes of Black Seeds, Kora, dDub, Fat Freddys, Tahuna Breaks, Katchafire, Shapeshifter, Sal Dud, Six60 etc. As you can see the style/genre of that music is very different to this song.
I'm not going to disagree with the fact she done well to get to where she has and to be acknowledged in other parts of the world, the U.S especially, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I suppose what I tried to initially say was that I'm not going to promote to the fact that this song is from a New Zealander when I think, (keyword I) there are other bands/artist within New Zealand that deserve just as much if not more international recognition, such as the bands I mentioned above. But that is me. And I do not speak, nor am I trying to speak, for the rest of New Zealand. There were no malicious intentions behind my previous comment. It was an opinion.

  23. 23

Re: asdfgh123 – So you can give it but you cant take it? your obviously embarrassed by your rude And malicious comments your entitled to an opinion but its hardly an opinion it just sounds stupid. Whats to say she doesn't deserve this as much as these other bands? Because you don't like the style? because they've been around for longer? grow up shes here for a reason. If you've nothing nice or interesting to say then shut your trap. Tall poppy much - i second that.

some of you commenters here seem to lack education and more sadly, taste.

To all of you Dane Rumble and J Williams fans - Being 2010 there is a beautiful tool you have obviously stumbled upon, known as the internet.. With this tool you will be able to find yourselves something beter to entertain yourselves with..

Perhaps, also, with even an ounce of brainpower you may be able to operate a search engine such as 'google' and find that Zowie, has infact been around a lot longer than some may think, and is no newcomer at all.. Having played both Big Day Out and Rhythm 'N' Vines Festivals ( NZ's two biggest annual pop festivals) and supported acts such as The Kills and Peaches… has Dane Williams? NOPE.. just plenty of high school shows and coke sponsored events to ten year old girls.

Dane Rumble international sounding? I think not.. I used to live in NZ and havn't heard him since I left.. It's been lovely.. truth is noone outside our little neck of the woods knows, or cares who he is.

Zowie on the other hand.. has spent most of this year travelling the world with her music. …More than Dane can say. he is simply the reformed product of the lame 90s project Farts Crew, and J Williams - a 10% half arsed version of Usher.. Hardly original or fresh.

You tall poppies are sad, and probabaly can't even sing "mary had a little lamb" in time or in tune.

Zowie is awesome.. and such a breath of fresh air for music/entertainment worldwide
