News Corp Donates $1 Million To Republican Party!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooPolitikBusiness Blitz

Well, we guess we know that they're letting the world where they stand politically!

Media conglomerate News Corporation, headed by gazillionaire Rupert Murdoch, made a $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association, which many are calling “an appendage of the Republican Party!”

However, company spokesman Jack Horner maintains:

“News Corp. has always believed in the power of free markets, and organizations like the R.G.A., which have a pro-business agenda, support our priorities at this most critical time for our economy. There is a strict wall between business and editorial.”

Puh-leeease!

That's a lot of money to be dishing out for one political party! If you're going to make a bold donation like that, you might as well follow through all the way and commit to it instead of trying to stay in everyone's good favor!

Lame!

What do U think about News Corps' massive donation??

So, I know you're an extreme left-wing liberal, but you post this about a measley million dollars going to the republicans but fail to mention the millions upon millions constantly being donated to the democrats?

  2. 2

IT's no different than MSNBC or CNN showing their bias towrds Democrats. News Corp has a right to donate to whoever they want.

  3. 3

Republicans aren't satisifed with the damage they did to this country during the Bush years (deregulation that led to $62.2 TRILLION worth of credit default swaps - which fed the economic collapse, or gambling away the credibility of American intelligence in Iraq), they're willing to spend tons of money for a chance to finish the job. Troglodytes.

  4. 4

we have a system that allows these donations. but as a news organization, that sometimes pretends to be "fair & balanced", picking a side destroys any credibility they may have to the fourth estate of journalism and the responsibility of seeking truth unbiasedly.
fox always claims that they are the only "fair & balanced" as papa bear says news organization. that's obviously not true, but is everyone else in news is liberal, they have never offered a reason why that's the case.
do cnn, nbc, abc or whoever make these donations also?

  5. 5

Better given to the party who knows what to do with it

  6. 6

And yes i mean it was given to the more responsible party

  7. 7

You are retarded. Seriously, one mill? That's a drop in the bucket compared to how much money morons throw at either one of those shitty parties. Too bad we don't have real problems to toss money at ya?

  8. 8

I think its nothing to the MULTI MILLIONS that George Soros has donated to the DNC.

  9. 9

A corporation is not a person and should not be afforded 1st amendment rights. I wholly disagree with the supreme court on this one. I DO believe it will be only a matter of years before the corporations make our laws (hello prop 8) and elect our leaders (please don't let it be meg whitman). The republic will soon be dead. Booo!

  10. 10

Re: the thing is… – but when they as a company donate money to money they do it in almost equal amounts between repubs and dems and never anywhere close to one million dollars combined.

  11. 11

At least they are being honest. The other networks have provided millions and millions of dollare of free air time to Democrats since newsroom personnel are about 90% Democrat and they try to pretend they are neutral. Unions which are in the business of people , contribute far more than a measly million dollars to Democrats.

  12. 12

Re: sbegs – ….you missed the point of what this means!!! This means that FOX news or MSNBC or CNN or TARGET or WAL-MART or BP can donate any amount of money to any political party or individual running for office. Because congress passed a bill saying that Corporations are the same as individuals and are therefor allowed to donate as much money as they want to political campaigns. This was illegal 2 or 3 years go! Don't you see how fucked up that is? Whether the money is going to a liberal or a cock-sucking conservative, it doesn't matter! It means that these HUGE, MASSIVE corporations have more influence on our government that we do. We should be terrified. These corporations are taking away the PEOPLE'S right to choose their own government!! Also, FOX call themselves "Fair & Balanced"!! How fair is it for them to contribute to a REPUBLICAN campaign and not give the same amount of money to the Democratic campaign. It's hypocrisy and it should be Illegal for any Corporation to contribute any money to any political campaign (like it was 3 years ago…thanks congress!)! If individuals within the corporation want to donate their own money out of their paycheck that is fine, but NO company with access to Billions or trillions of dollars should be able to have such a huge influence over our government! So don't try to make this a partisan issue and know the issues before you bitch about them.

  13. 13

I fucking hate Fox and most of the mouth pieces they use to get their agenda out. They lie, exaggerate and do nothing but bash our President at every chance they get. Everyone knows they are the Republican channel and this does not surprise me one bit.

  14. 14

    * paints her nails*

  15. 15

Re: the thing is… – …showing bias is how the news works. But it is different to broadcast bias opinions but it is another thing to contribute money to one campaign and then not give the same amount of money to the other campaign. Hypothetically, what if I wanted to run for the House or Congress. Lets say i am poor, but the best person for the job. Then, lets say my conservative opponent is less educated than me and believes that America should go from a Democracy to a Theocracy. He gets 1 million $ from Fox news, but I don't get a big donation because I'm not conservative. Well my republican opponent has all that money to travel around the state, make negative commercials about me, and pay for rallies, convention centers new suits, ect! All I can do is hold backyard rallies, and buy banners, signs and buttons. Well he obviously gets more media exposure, more time in the spotlight because he can pay for it, so he wins! Yet, I am the most educated, the most qualified and i uphold our American values! Is that fair? Hypothetically?

  16. 16

again, this is legal, and seems crappy that corporations can have this influence, and it certainly happens on both sides of the aisle.
but for a news corporation to contribute to one side, destroys any semblance of truth in their responsibility of journalists.

  17. 17

When Obama and McCain were offered a set limit of money to advertise/finance their Presidential campaign, for a level playing field (and to keep spending down), Obama declined. Obama out-raised and out-spent McCain in the last election by a three-to-one margin. Don't cry for the Dems, they have plenty of money to piss away.

  18. 18

Re: Tinalouise – Replace "Fox" with CNN and "Republican" with Democrat and you just summed up the Bush years.

All of the news outlets are biased, Fox News just has a lot more viewers.

    19

omg shocking! I am sure no one saw that one coming. I am floored!

  20. 20

Femalefilmmajor your retarded…absolutely retarded. News Corp isn't the ex-husband that beat you when you were married…so put your "cock" away and shut the eff up.

News Corps has every right to give whatever they want, to whomever they want. I'm glad they are giving it to a party that will actually take care of the money and not burn it like the current management…

    Re: blueboy

If democrats are so smart why did the DODD/FRANK bill have zero reform on CDO's "Credit Default swaps" Speaking of Credit default swaps what caused everyone to call them in in the first place? It was the massive amount of foreclosures. What caused the foreclosures? People getting loans they had no business getting. How did they get those loans?? CRA Community reinvestment Act. Who started that "Carter". Who Extended Clinton.

Re: FemaleFilmMajor – fox is a lying piece of shit and you need not look any further than rupert murdoch and wendi deng to find the two biggest pieces of shit on earth.

  23. 23

why would anyone be surprised by this. Faux News has always been nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Republicans. anyone who watches Fox Entertainment (can't really called it news) and actually thinks they are getting anything "fair & balanced" are delusional.

  24. 24

    Awesome! Go Republicans!

  25. 25

I think a million is not as much as you think it is. Any total on what George Soros has spent with the progressives? *crickets*

  26. 26

    FOX rules!

  27. 27

You're surprised that "faux" news is donating to the republican party?
    You're an idiot.

  28. sgold says – reply to this

    28

Wow they aren't even trying to hide it anymore! Well good for them for coming out of the closet, now at least real news networks can't take their reports as real news anymore but rather as propaganda for the GOP and Tea baggers. Also, now they should at least have the courtesy to change their 'fair and balanced' slogan or at least add a 'for the right wing' at the end of it and their name to GOP news.

  29. 29

Thats nothing compared to the value of the free PR the Dems get from the Washington Post, Newsweek, CNN, etc. Or from George Soros' wallet.

Re: Tinalouise – At least they report the news. You apparently have never watched it, like the rest of the stupid lock-step libtards that just parrot ignorance.

  31. 31

Re: White Whitney – If you want to talk about burning tax dollars lets talk about the 2 illegal wars, tax cuts for the wealthy, financial deregulation, and TARP which was all the Bush Administration! Why is Health Care reform, Education reform and Financial reform not worthy of support?

  32. uyeah says – reply to this

    32

Re: blueboy – Continue to blame Bush you retard. We're in the current mess because of clueless obama who lied in his campaign and did the opposite of everything he promised. And still you libtards are delusional an want to keep blaming Bush. At this point it's a mental disorder.

  33. 33

no problem at all, people can give $$ to whoever they want, it's still a free country so far in spite of Barry & his cronnie's best efforts

  34. 34

Why you Crying Perez!! You know Democrap party has a lot of cash!!! Who cares!!!! You want everyone to have your opinion well little boy, thats not how it works!!

  35. 35

Ahh what of my favorite sayings comes to mind It doesn't matter who you vote for because the government always gets in! What alot of people don't know is that congress won't pass a law about donations because every amount of money every member raises for themselves using our tax dollars to do so cars, trains, planes motorcades etc. THEY GET TO KEEP WHEN THEY LEAVE OFFICE. Now that should piss America off . I wonder why we can't get an age cap passed either Just saying 74, 80, 99 next they'll be digging them up at the grave to just sit there.

  36. 36

It's their money and it's their right to donate money to whoever they want.

  37. 37

It just proves that BIG BUSINESS should NOT control any media. They have an agenda and we have become like the novel 1984 and BRAVE NEW WORLD.

Everything is not real and everything is propoganda.

Everything we see, read, do, want, need, say and even think are being controlled. If you don't believe that, then continue to be a 'SHEEP'.

It is all about power and money for a select few. Screw the rest of us, we are the 'expendables', the workforce, the undesirables.

  38. 38

why can't you be happy with the millions your party receives from the unions, hollywood, and soros.

  39. 39

Perez, if it was given to the Democratic Party you'd be fine with it. Hypocrite.

  40. 40

who cares! mainstream media is the 4th branch of U.S Government anyway, America's owned by corporations and banks, its called fascism.

    MEDIA MATTERS
Rupert Murdoch inks deal with Saudi prince
Al-Walid once boasted of his influence on Fox News coverage of Muslims

    © 2010 WorldNetDaily

Prince Al-Walid bin TalalMedia mogul Rupert Murdoch, owner of the Fox News Channel, strengthened his strategic partnership with Prince Al-Walid bin Talal, acquiring a stake in the Saudi royal's Rotana media conglomerate.

As WND reported, the Saudi prince, who owns a 5.7 percent share of Fox News, claimed in 2005 he persuaded Murdoch to immediately stop the top-rated cable network from identifying unrest in France as "Muslim riots."

In 2005, Walid recounted his influence on the Fox News Channel's coverage of Muslims during a panel at the Arab and World Media Conference in Dubai. He noted that during violent street protests in France, Fox News ran a banner at the bottom of the screen that said "Muslim riots."

"I picked up the phone and called Murdoch … [and told him] these are not Muslim riots, these are riots out of poverty," Al-Walid said.

"Within 30 minutes, the title was changed from Muslim riots to civil riots."

"at least they report the news" uyeah, you're a complete idiot!!

  42. 42

Saudi Prince, Now Part Owner of Murdoch's News Corp., Influences Fox News.

Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal now owns a 7 percent stake in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., the parent company of Fox News, making him the company's largest shareholder outside of Murdoch's own family.
Investigative journalist Joseph Trento reported that a comment he recently made on a Fox Network morning news show, Fox and Friends, about Saudi Arabian money still financing Al Qaeda, was edited out of the show. Trento also reports that Alwaleed "has personally donated huge amounts of money to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers." In a rare interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto in January, AlWaleed explained his personal reasons for seeking influence in American politics: the U.S. buys Saudi Arabia's oil, and the bulk of his country's gross domestic product (GDP) comes from oil. Fox News reliably broadcasts misinformation on clean energy, and aggressively fights efforts to move America away from being dependent on a fossil fuels.

    43

Major conflict of interest! News outlets have a journalistic ethical standards requirement to remain objective. Murdoch would have to give the same amount to the other party(s) to appear to have journalistic integrity. He can do what he wants, but displays appalling community leadership.

  44. 44

    Fuck the corporate media

  45. 45

GOOD FOR THEM! I SAY GOOD FOR THEM!
We need to worry about business and the economy right now, who cares if you are gay or straight if you can't find a job to support yourself! This country is falling apart..
