Another Box Office BOMB For Jennifer Aniston!

Despite the film's wide release (in over 2,000 theaters) and despite the massive amounts of promotion she did (magazine covers and lots of TVs), Jennifer Aniston's new movie, The Switch, failed to even open in the Top 5 at the U.S. box office this weekend.
In fact, the film made just $2.7 million and should only make $8 mill for the entire weekend.
Ouch!!!!

In other news, the Angelina Jolie-driven film Salt recently crossed the $100 million mark domestically, one of only less than a handful of women that can carry a film like that.

It's not that she isn't a film star, it's that she makes terrible role choices. I have no interest in seeing the shitty chick flick movies she's in. Which is unfortunate because I love her and Jason Bateman.
Perez you dumbass, you forgot to mention that Angelina Jolie's film sucked… and the film actually cost over $100 million dollars just to make anyway (not even including the promotional budget, which is usually at least half of the production budget). That film was a huge box office disappointment. In order to make money it will probably have to make over $350 million worldwide, which it won't come close to.
Jen's film however, was backed by Miramax, an indie film distributor, so it obviously had a much more scaled back budget. And despite your reports of "lots" of magazine covers and "TVs", it was not that much. The only reason it probably got the amount of promotion it did was because of her.

I'm actually not surprised since most of America jumps on a bandwagon of action movies IE HIGHLY ADVERTISED AND HYPED UP. Just cause numbers in the release weekend are not incredible doesn't mean that a movie is crappy. Jason Bateman has the acting ability and charisma to make this movie good. Doesn't take a genius to see that movie goers love to see shit blow up, view spastic footage of fighting scenes and get their visual overload instead of view a romantic comedy.

With poor Aniston, she's just NOT a movie star. The woman looks like she is ALWAYS frowning, and now she's taken to wearing this POUND of plaster on her face! She looks puffy from drinking or something. I don't know. They BOTH need to just GO AWAY. Jolie looks like she needs A GOOD SCRUBBING, a bath, NOW. Greasy and dirty. TAKE A BATH! I really do like Jennifer Aniston, but I'd like to see her change things up a little. If you ran a string of her movies back to back, you could almost call it "The Different On-screen Relationships of Jennifer Aniston". Like I said, I do like her but she really seems limited in her range of characters. I guess at the end of the day, it works for her, makes lots of money, and we like her films so why mess with it. Perhaps she's just practical, smart, and not a risk taker, and I'm all for that.

The Switch wouldn't have done any better with Angelina instead of Jennifer. On average their movies gross about the same. It's funny how when Salt opened you mentioned it beating Inception on its first day, but never spoke about losing the weekend in the end.

The Switch is a cute date movie - Salt tries to be a "intellectual" movie. People will only go to see it because they are either obsessed with Angelina the Whore, or they want to seem intelligent themselves. Other than Aniston's salary, what expenses does a studio incur in producing one of her pumped up made-for-tv movies?
