Despite the film's wide release (in over 2,000 theaters) and despite the massive amounts of promotion she did (magazine covers and lots of TVs), Jennifer Aniston's new movie, The Switch, failed to even open in the Top 5 at the U.S. box office this weekend.
In fact, the film made just $2.7 million and should only make $8 mill for the entire weekend.
Ouch!!!!
She is just not a film star!
In other news, the Angelina Jolie-driven film Salt recently crossed the $100 million mark domestically, one of only less than a handful of women that can carry a film like that.

It's worth remembering that fluffy little romantic comedies cost comparitively little to make, so they return a nice profit fairly easily. After it's worldwide release and subsequent DVD release, the movie will make a tidy PROFIT for the backers. Action flicks like `Salt' cost a fortune to make, and a fortune to promote. Sure Angelina is a beautiful woman, but I wouldn't pay money to watch her kill, burn and blow up the scenery. It's just not believable or attractive. I prefer to see women acting like women not comic book creatures. By the way, what exactly have you got against Anniston anyway, and why exactly do you continuously blow smoke up Angelina's arse? Fair question.

I personally love everything about Jen Aniston and her movies. I think she is one of the most classy actresses out there and has the best fashion sense. I think this movie looks cute and I intend on seeing it next weekend. I would however love to see her in a period peice like "far and away" or "channling". I liked her in "derailed" but I guess that didn't do so hot..it was a good movie though if you haven't seen it.

Although it will never happen, the way for Jennifer to have one of the highest grossing films of all time is for Jen and Brad to do a romantic/comedy/action film together. While this is just my fantasy, I know it would blow the roof off of anything Angelina has done. Every says that Jennifer is an aweful actress. I disagree. Easy choices on her part. But can anyone say that Angelina is really a good actress. She fell into this industry because of her dad and her looks. She is really a week actress.

It did better worldwide but in almost any case, if a major film doesn't make back it's budget domestically it doesn't break even. There is this general rule that a movie needs to make 2.5 times it's production budget worldwide in order to actually start making money.
Very few of Angelina's films meet this rule while in theaters, whereas most of Jen's do. So it surprises me that Angelina has been able to command a $10 million and up salary for years… She has done nothing to justify it. My only guess is that producers are hoping her celebrity profile will translate into big audiences… but it has proven not to. She's certainly a bigger celebrity than box-office star.

The Switch is not selling, The Bounty Hunter was a flop, Love Happens was a flop, He's Just Not That Into You was a flop, Marley and Me was about a dog, Management flopped, The Break-up was a flop, Derailed was a flop, Friends with Money was a flop, Rumor has it was a flop, and yet she keeps on working…and making millions. Why? And yet….She has nine films in development and three films in production.
The movie is only expected to gross 7 million in the opening weekend, since it's only in 2,019 theaters. The 2.7 million is only from Friday, and the weekend is not over yet.. so we will see Monday if it can meet the expectation. I think it will do okay, since mostly Jen's movies has a low movie budget…which she usually returned the investment and have a profit. It is very unfair to compare the Switch to Salt, since they have a big difference in the number of theaters alone. Salt was opened in 3,612 theaters and distributed worlwide as well, whereas the Switch is probably not a worlwide movie. If they do go worlwide, probably just in selected countries since The Switch is not even showing in some of the Cities in the US. So it's ridiculous to compare this two together, specially if Angie usually goes for a big budget movies. In fact the present Domestic gross of Salt right now is 107 million in a 110 million budget. I'm sure she can return the investment, but the profit only comes mostly from the worlwide gross. Jen's movies usually profited from Domestic gross alone, so 2.7 million on the first day of Switch is not a final verdict yet as a bomb or flop. The loons and haters actually doesn't know what they are talking about, when it comes to who has more movie flops. The fact is, Angelina has more movie flops than Jen when it comes to Domestic Gross, just check the Boxofficemojo to those who doubt.

Anyhow, I saw the switch this afternoon and it's actually a great movie. I recommend the whole family to actually see it, since it's a very heartwarming movie and has a funny scenes. The story caters to the mom, dad, and children, and in fact lots of children are watching it…which surprised the heck out of me. Most of them are ages from 5 to 13, and they probably just want to see the boy who play Jen's son. This is more of the father and son relationship, which in my opinion makes it a great family movie to watch.

I went to see 'The Switch' yesterday. I loved it. Jason Bateman is adorbs and Jennifer is gorgeous. I totally love both of them. Just because JA's movies aren't blockbusters, doesn't mean she's not successful. At least every movie she plays in isn't the same damn character. The badass, gun-toting tattooed crazy bitch who's half naked and kills everything that moves. Salt was playing next door and the damn thing was so loud, it sounded like WWIII where I was. HATE Ms. Jolie with the heat of a thousand suns.

Angelina is a true actress and plays some good roles. Aniston takes ANYTHING that comes her way, despite she keeps playing the same part for the past 15 years. She has no real depth. In the original story (from which this script heinously hacked and warped as to make into a million American comedy farce pieces) the switch is considered to be a horrible act of betrayal and near rape. And not an act inspiring chuckles and an Aniston double-take of, "Aw, shucks…WHOSE SPERM? Well, whatch'ya gunna do?" (All said with that little shrug of hers as she makes certain that her hair is in its right light as the camera hangs on her in close up).
Its a sordid, filthy storyline really.

Unfortunately 8 million for an opening weekend is not good for the studio that put up the money. Today you have to sell domestic and internationally. Jen walks away with 15 or more million and the studios suffer the loses.

I like Jennifer Aniston but she needs to stop playing the same type of character re-hash over and over. That's a career killer - ask Meg Ryan, who did nothing but romcoms and now look where she's at. Jen was best when playing edgier, darker and dramatic roles like in "The Good Girl." And pls Perez stop picking on her - seriously, what did she ever do to you????
I can't understand why jason bateman is'nt a huge star. I think he's really funny. Anniston is running into julie roberts territory here. Getting too familiar.
