Earth, Wind, & Fire…And Riots!

| Filed under: Music MinuteWacky, Tacky & True

Wow! Juggalo fever continues!

Yesterday, Earth, Wind & Fire played the Bohemian Nights gig at NewWestFest in Colorado. The evening was peaceful, mellow music filling the air and the minds of all who came to listen. But when the music stopped, the riots started and the streets of Fort Collins were tore up by folks who were just not feeling the love.

According to local sources, police arrived to find of crowd of 400 people getting nasty and rowdy at a major intersection. Beer bottles were being thrown, private property was being destroyed, three major fights broke out and someone set some shiz on fire! The reports say that several people were injured during the craziness, including two people who were thrown through the window of store front!

It wasn't until the SWAT team arrived and hit their asses with tear gas that the mob finally dispersed!

To get an idea of what we're talking about, check out the video above from when the SWAT team arrived! Crazy!

I live in Fort Collins and was at that concert with my kids. The concert was excellent (surprisingly excellent) and was over long before this started. There were 18,000 people in attendance and they estimated the "riot" at 400 people. I wasn't there by the time this started, but according to people who were still out & about at that time, there were maybe 75 people actually involved and the rest were bystanders. Note that most of the people I saw at the concert were middle aged or young kids. From the looks of it the only ones left at the bars at 1am were the college kids who are just now returning from summer break. Hardly a true representation of Fort Collins or NewWest Fest.

"What are we doing wrong" uhh how about rioting and destroying stuff that you just have to turn right around and pay for with your tax dollars? I cannot even comprehend why people would riot..When the Lakers won the championship a riot broke out..Surprise surprise most were hispanics and blacks. So your team won the championship in your city now lets go trash it? People that do this is the scum of the earth. We do not need people like this in society. I PROMISE YOU..If the national guard was to show up at one of these events with orders to shoot the kill..Let them line up..and the first object that came flying at them..Unload a 30 round clip into people..I promise you there would never be another riot again.

I live in FOCO. I walked through the square about 45 minutes before the riot, and the only people out were frat boys and sorostitutes waiting in line to get into meat market clubs. It had NOTHING to do with the concert. It had to do with the douchebag college students who can't handle their liquor being back in town. Welcome back students. Thanks for effin shizz up again as usual

It's because of these pathetic excuses for human beings that concerts cost so much to get into now… In hopes of keeping these f*cking idiots out!!! WTF?!?! Why can't you go out and truly enjoy yourself anymore?!?! I wish they'd use poison darts to break up this shit, and not just tear gas!!! I HATE people like this!!

  9. 9

Gee, don't these delinquents have shyt else better to do than to trash streets and what not??? Sad and pathetic! =[

"What are we doing wrong?" How about fighting, destruction of private property, etc. School has started, and the dumbass college kids are out in force.

I was at that concert too and it was THE most disorganized concert I have evr been to. I'm sure Earth Wind and Fire were great, but I wouldn't know because I left with my family after two songs. There were too many people packed in there, and everyone was drunk- not a good combination. I was deliberately pushed and shoved by idiots trying to get to the front when there was no place to go, and I didn't see any police officers, only "security guards" who had no clue what they were doing. I'm surprised a riot didn't happen during the concert.

I think that the whole "riot" thing is a bit fabricated. My brother and sister were there when that all went down, and it wasn't that bad. A few kids were just being idiots.
