Drake's Letter To Aaliyah

Sweet.
Drake wrote a letter in tribute to Aaliyah AKA Dana Haughton as the anniversary of her tragic death was yesterday.
He writes:
Dear Dana,
I’ve never lost a parent, a friend, or a lover but I will never forget this day for the rest of my life. I remember getting the news that you had passed and it connected with my heart like a clean shot from Muhammad Ali. I was crushed. Not only was I one of your biggest fans but I was truly in love with you. I loved the way you carried yourself, the way you dressed, the confidence with which you addressed passion and relationships in your music. I said to myself that even if we never met, I wanted a woman in my life just like you. I am pained that we will never get to connect now that music ended up being my career path. But you should know, we all listen to you everyday and we remain inspired and moved by all that you’ve given the world. I hope I make the right life choices so I can end up in heaven where I know you rest your head. I’ll continue to make music in your honor until the day we finally meet. Dinner’s on me!
Love you always and forever,
Drake
So sad.

I honestly didn't think she was that great of an artist. No disrespect, but I don't think anyone would make a big deal out of her if she were still alive. She had a couple good songs, but was/is no legend.
R.I.P Aaliyah. She was a sweet and talented young lady who I will always look up to.
her name isn't dana haughton it's AALIYAH DANA HAUGHTON. moron
RIP Baby Girl
Drake is such a sweet, classy guy. Love my Jimmy Brookes!!!
So Sad! I swear just yesterday I was blasting Aaliyah's music on my computer, just reminiscing about the good old days when music was still good. Aaliyah was so beatiful, so classy, so talented. She is truly missed. RIP baby girl.
Really nice !!!
Re: kaykay85 – I feel the exact same way. It's sad that she died and all, but for me, she had a couple of good songs, but she wasn't all that like people make her out to be, and they only do that because she died. To Aaliyah fans, no disrespect at all, it's just my opinion.
why am i reading this.. phony ass drake can keep his stupid letters to himself.. go visit her grave..fake ass swag herb
Her name`s Aaliyah Dana Haughton. No AKA, lol. He just chose to go with her middle name.
That is such a sweet letter. RIP, Babygirl.
Aaliyah A.K.A Baby Girl….how I miss you so…Your music to me is classic, and has helped me threw out it all. Weather it being, depressed, tired, sad, lonely, whenever i listen to your music everything turns good again….i hope i get a chance to meet you in heaven and thank you for everything you've done…Even though you were not able to show more of what you wanted to do, you showed enough….theres not a day that goes by that i dont jam to your music. i love and miss u baby girl. AS FOR EVERY1 ELSE! GET INTO IT, SHE WAS A CLASSY REAL ARTIST, UNLIKE EVERYOTHER ARTIST THAT SEEMS TO BE OUT THERE. IN HER 6 YEAR CAREER SHE WAS ABLE TO HAVE 3 2X PLATINTUM ALBUMS!! WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE?? SHE ALSO HAD 2 #1 MOVIES AND HAS SOLE 32 MILLION COPIES WORLD WIDE! SO IF YOU HAVENT HEARD HER MUSIC, GET INTO IT….R.I.P
Umm…yeah, to the idiots that took time to let us know what they thought of her as an artist…keep your dumb ass comments to yourself. Whatever you think/thought of her talent, she is deceased…have some damn respect. Tell you about assholes. R.I.P. Aaliyah. This letter from Drake was very sweet and hearfelt.
Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: kaykay85 – Re: MJ fan59 – Re: MJ fan59 – Re: kaykay85 –
ITS NOT AS GREAT AS SHE WAS, IT WAS JUST THE PERSON SHE WAS. SWEET, CLASSY, REAL. SOMETHING ARTIST LACK NOWADAYS. YOU ALSO HAVE TO UNDERSTAND BACK IN 01 THERE WAS NO YOUTUBE, NO FACE BOOK OR MYSPACE TO KNOW MUCH ABOUT ARTIST BY JUST 1 CLICK. BUT IN CASE U DIDENT KNOW. SHE HAD 3 DOUBLE PLATINUM ALBUMS, 2 #1 MOVIES, AND MANY AWARDS ALL PRIOR TO HER DEATH….PEOPLE CARE DEEPLY FOR HER TILL THIS DAY BC OF THE TALENT AND SENIORITY SHE CARRIED. R.I.P BABY GIRL
I hope Dame Dash is ashamed of himself for sacrificing her.
I will never understand the celeb/artist-fan connection. How are you devastated when someone you don't know and have never met dies? It's understandable I guess, but weird.
rip Aaliyah
Well, I guess the people that don't understand why we care so much didn't grow up with her music. I mean coming from a home that particularly played Rap & R&B music. I loved everything about this woman. From her hairstyle when she covered one eye, to her tom-boyish attire, her voice, her dancing, she was SO amazing beautiful & especially her music which are among the first songs I've ever learned the lyrics to from replaying them SO much! She's a person no one can replace & she was something I never seen before, she was original! I will always love Aaliyah Dana Haughton… r.i.p baby girl.
I grew up listening to Aaliyah she ruled R&B. She's a big idol of mines. I was devastated when I heard she had died.
Her death was really tragic, but she wasn't THAT great.
I don't know why he writes, "Dear Dana," seeing as her real first name is Aaliyah. Dana is her middle name, not her first. She didn't have a stage name, and she only went by her real name.
Great way to honor her legacy……RIP Aaliyah
ghet-toes are still talking about Aaliyah, even after all these years. Get a life people, she wasn't even that famous or talented. If she lived, she'd be looking like Faith Evans now. Fo shizzle!
Re: stayhighj – LOL I agree… drake is lame! RIP Aaliyah
WHAT A CHEESY LAME ASS LETTER!!!!!!!! WRITTEN BY A 10YR OLD AT BEST. JUST SHOWS WHAT LACK OF EDUCATION THESE IDIOTS HAVE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BIZ… AND THESE ARE THE MORONS TWEENERS LOOK UP TO. WHAT A PR MOVE BY NO TALENT/SINGER RAPPER DRAKE!!
corny
R.I.P my beautiful Capricorn, pero Drake could have written someteeng better. What was the dinner's on me in heaben all about?
to those who believe aaliyah's music "wasn't all that great", the girl was never given a chance. she was 15 years old when she started writing and recording and leading up to her death she was never in rehab, never went nuts, wasn't in jail and unlike most celebrities, never allowed her personal life to over shadow her talent. she was a beautiful person as well as an entertainer. those who can't appreciate her music will never appreciate true talent. 9 years ago, we lost an angel & i'm proud to say that i mourned her death at the age of 14 as i would if she had passed today. RIP baby girl, your music is still inspirational
RIP! Love her music and movies.
This is from the Disney Movie Anastasia! She song this song:
Heart, don't fail me now
Courage, don't desert me
Don't turn back now that we're here
People always say
Life is full of choices
No one ever mentions fear
Or how the road can seem so long
Or how the world can seem so vast
Courage see me through
Heart i'm trusting you
On this journey…to the past
Somewhere down this road
I know someone's waiting
Years of dreams just can't be wrong!
Arms will open wide
I'll be safe and wanted
Fin'lly home where I belong
Well, starting here, my life begin
Starting here, im learning fast
Courage see me through
Heart im trusting you
On this journey…to the past
Courage see me through
Heart im trusting you
Home, Love, Family
There was once a time
I must have had them too
Home, Love, Family
I will never be complete
Until I find you…
One step at a time,
One hope, then another
Who knows where this road may go
Back to who I was
On to find my future,
Things my heart still needs to know
Yes, let this be a sign!
Let this road be mine!
Let it lead me to my past
Courage see me through
Heart im trusting you
to bring me home…
At last
Courage see me through
Heart im trusting you
yea…

it's make me laugh when people just come here just to say that she wasn't that great. people did you ever listen to her music carefully and i'm not just talking about the song who were on tv but all her music! she was an amazing ARTIST and an amazing PERSON she could touch everyone. drake letter is really sweet just show that he was a fan like we are. love you aaliyah like missy said you were one in a million and more than a woman.
Re: HeartsContent – Maybe because you are heartless.. Satan..
I don't understand, how hard is it to comprehend that someon died.. And she was a significant part of young ppl's lives.. If your old and then, clearly you remember Jim Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, James Dean. And no, I am not comparing her to them, before you dumbasses write back.. She is a legend to those who knew of her.. It's a generational thing I suppose.. But, for ppl in small towns or in urban areas, these artist represent what can be, dreams.. It's that simple.. She was a major star in music, of any genre, she was not given the opportunity to reach wider audiences or become a to "you" who didn't know her a huge star but, to us, she was a MEGASTAR!! And we loved her. If you don't like her fine.. But, don't deminish what these ppl feel for her.. She was beautiful! Our angel. Our hope.. I hope ppl grasp her significance.. Because, it's getting old, this she only got famous after she died.. Maybe? That's your opinion but, in any case she is a legend.. Because next year we will be talking about her too, and the year after that.. Check her bio, videography, and discography and school yourself on real talent!
RIP AALIYAH, ALL THE JEALOUSY IS STILL THERE.. SHE WAS A MEGASTAR****
That was very touching. I was so sad when I heard Aaliyah died, I was a big fan too. She had such a pretty voice and her songs were all great. RIP Aaliyah!
Don't get me wrong! She was a beautiful woman and an amazing soul, but I don't feel that she was a musical legend. She had a few nice songs but I feel a lot of people talk about her like she defined an era. I digress may she rest in peace! Love you Baby Girl!
aww
@KAYKAY85……are you serious right now? How old are you, was it your prime when it was hers? you said she only had a few tracks that were hot? SERIOUSLY? sounds to me like your young and you don't know shit, i know "age aint nothing but a number" but seriously…she was in the Mago, Ginuwine, Missy era like 94-95? WHERE YOU EVEN BORN YET?????? how dare you disrespect Aalyiah who has since pasted, and influened our Beyonce and our other Lovley Ladies..go fuk your self with an AIDS dick Bitch
Re: BiaesLoca – I agree, some of these young people not only don't know how talented she was, but they also have no respect for her talent or for her period, how dare they say that she wasn't the greatest, she has influenced all of the female artist that all the young people listen to today. If she was still here with us she would be bigger than all of the females artist today hands down.People like her really need to know their facts before they open their mouths
Re: stayhighj – Drake is a genuinely nice person. I have met him on a few occasions. He comes from a musical family and is certainly entitled to an opinion. I think YOUR name says it all,MR. Stayhigh. Try not being high all the time and see how much more there is to the world. Snap, dude.
Beautifully written letter by Drake. RIP Aaliyah!
I was young when Aaliyah died but I cried. I loved her music. She was truly a significant part of my childhood and I still listen to her music. To those who believe that we were young when she died therefore we don't know what we are talking about, you would be wrong. There are many "old souls" in my generation. I miss Aaliyah everyday and my age shouldn't measure how much I know about her or her music.
Re: BiaesLoca – It's called an opinion, and I have one and am entitled to it. I stated that I wasn't being disrespectful, but didn't think people would be paying her THIS much attention if she were alive. And YES, I was alive in 94 and 95 (Like that matters), but just because she was huge in the hood, doesn't mean that she was everywhere else. Get over it. It's sad she is gone, and if you are still her #1 fan? Great!!!! Just because someone doesn't share the same opinion as you, it doesn't mean that its wrong. To each their own.
I miss Aaliyah too.She was so sweet and beautiful.I loved her songs and her dance moves. She died way too young and way too tragic:(
she was a great artist
legend or not.
she was great singer and DANCERRRRRRR!
she actually an r&b singer
none of the bullshit
its a shame she was taken so soon.
when i listen to her songs she still feels so alive.
Gay letter. What was drake 9 years old when she died? Give me a break.
Re: kaykay85 – and where did you go to school? what do you mean the hood? who is talking about the hood? why do you all always have to bring up "hood mentalitys", and yes, the era does matter because if you were not even born by then or only a few years old at the time, sit down and shut up, for you all will never know real music. ….not her number one fan, never was. she has influences music. you know, i can not get over your "good in the hood" comment aaliyah was respectful and had class, i do not believe she was in the hood. to me that is Tupac, and Ob Trice and them, you know? she was the only female out back then doing it as she was, if she was here we would not have seen fake Ciara and whoever else you all people from the hood listen to LOL
