A big year for the House of Mouse!

As of this week, experts say that Toy Story 3 will cross the $1 billion line in profits! This is the second film from Disney that has grossed that much. Alice In Wonderland, the 5th biggest title in global box office history, took home $1.0243 billion earlier this year.

With the success of these two films, Disney becomes the first studio in history to release two $1 billion films in a single year!

Wowza! Talk about smashing the box-office!!!

Who the hell is ever going to beat that?!

ummm… I'm gonna chalk this up to rising ticket prices.

This will be the THIRD $1 billion movie for Disney. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest grossed $1 billion back in 2006… Proof reading and fact checks: two things this site has been lacking in lately.

    Re: way_to_normal – it does say 'in a single year'… :/

I went to see Alice in wonderland….
    It sucked ass…

Johnny depp you owe me $12 biotch

Hot Tub Time Machine was the most underrated movie of the year. I say it was better than The Hangover. 'What color is Michael Jackson?' 'Lougle'. LOL Classic

It was a good movie, shouldn't be so surprising.

Disney, you are my favourite fantasy/company/place in the world.
    They completely deserve it all!

Wonderful. With all those Billions, Disney can patriotically give back to the part of America that can't afford to go see it.

Misleading. Movie tickets are so outrageously expensive now a days. It is all relative.
They SHOULD be making a billion with the outrageous prices they are charging. And I don't mean this in a good way.

  10. 10

umm…James Cameron beat the shit out of that with ONE movie…..

  11. 11

If only the good Disney movies had made that much….but I guess movies like UP and the old Disney movies are out of fashion….

Alice in Wonderland (by Tim Burton) sucked ass though.

It was cheesy, and didn't go with the books at all.

The Jabberwocky poem is supposed to HAVE NO POINT. There isn't a hidden meaning or anything and he got the "Red Queen" and "The Queen of Hearts" mixed up. They're both completely two different characters.

Red Queen = a good guy in the second book
The Queen of Hearts = the bad guy from the first book.

Re: UndiscoveredBeauty – Nope. It says that later on, but at first it says "This is the second film from Disney that has grossed that much." It's either poor, unclear writing, or a factual mistake. But it's not correct, either way.

    thats so cool lol

While it is true that ticket prices are higher today then previously, the fact that TS3 and animated works get the results is more stunning. While other films can charge full fair, a large slice of the admissions to Toy Story 3 are childrens tickets (normally about 1/2 price) and matinees (where adult tickets are discounted). Because of that, the per-ticket cost for TS3 is not as high as you'd tihnk. We went to see TS3 at a matinee.. ticket was $8 for wife & I, $4.50 for the two kids. Compared to Avatar, which was $14.50 a ticket.
