What a wonderful way to honor his memory!

To celebrate what would be her late husband John Lennon's 70th birthday, Yoko Ono is allegedly planning a tribute concert in Iceland for the Beatles icon!

Reports suggest that the concert will include Ono presenting four recipients with the Lennon/Ono Grant For Peace, a lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower Memorial, and then a musical tribute from the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band!

Sounds pretty impressive!

A lot of people are going to want to be a part of this thing once it catches wind!

We're curious to hear more details about this as it develops!

Thoughts??

For his honor?! Perez, you are such a moron… she's doing it for more money.

…As long as SHE does not sing, it will be a good thing…. You don't need to hear: YEEEEEOOOOOWPAAAANSSSSSSSSSOUTENASUGAHLLLLLLEEGUUFAAAHSHINAHPULAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATINGTULEEEEEE! Really, that is what her 'music' sounds like !

What a shame such a unique human being's legacy was left in the hands of such a weirdo as Yoko Ono. His eldest son Julian was cut off from most of his estate and his father's belongings, his (The Beatles) music catalog is still not yet on iTunes because of Yoko and now she is now holding a tribute concerts in Iceland(which is a very cool place but not especially population dense.) Imagine if John knew what would have happened to his legacy….You may say that I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one….

Lennon had a violent side. He used to lay the smack down on his ladies. It is strange that he is now know as a beckon of peace. But then again, death has that affect on people. Look at Elvis and Michael Jackson. Pathetic creatures in life, built up and romanticized is death.

Pretty cool. I'll tune in. :)

Re: StarCrunch – While John did get into a couple of fights in his youth the "wife beating" allegation was part of an extortion plot by Koral Karsan who was Yoko's driver and claimed "lover" long after John's death. He claims he had numerous secret tapes including one where Sean Lennon told his girlfriend that John a "wife beater." Karsan wanted $2 million to keep them quite. Yoko said he was full of shit called the cops and Karsan was convicted of extortion and later deported back to Turkey. No tapes ever surfaced and everyone denied ever making such a claim.

His first wife Cynthia wrote that he once slapped her across the face in a jealous rage. But, while not defensible, it is a far cry from the claim that he, "…liked to lay the smack down on his ladies."

Re: StarCrunch – So you believe everything the media says about these celebs?

  8. 8

    sounds pretty lame.

  9. 9

Who cares about this chick anyway?!She's just famous because she was married to a celebrity!

  10. 10

is this $ bitch $$$ still alive?!!! I HATE HER

  11. 11

Perez, there's a tribute concert there EVERY YEAR you dumbass.

Re: StarCrunch – Unlike Zoomba, I agree with you. Not many people know of John's violent side. Before they skyrocketed to fame, several times Paul and George had to pull him off random pub-goers. He was once quoted as saying, "Well, that was fun." Zoomba, if you're reading this, a slap across the face is never ago, male or female. I've been in this situation. If you can hurt your spouse once, there's a lot more going on than you can see. We'll never know and perhaps we're not meant to. As far as Yoko Ono, she could fall off the planet & I'd be a happier person. Hell, maybe Sean could get his share of his father's estate and we'd be able to download Beatle's tunes! Last but not least, Iceland, while beautiful, may have been chosen because there are less people to chringe when Yoko speaks.

That's cool! As much as I dislike Yoko, I have to admit she does a pretty good job keeping John's legacy alive. It's just sad to think he would have been 70 this October - wow. It reminds you of how young he was when he died and how long he has been gone :(

Re: mariascredit – LOVE the part about having to hear Yoko's speech, LOL! Remember that awards show a few years back - not sure if it was the Grammys or what - where she literally was unintelligible. The audience was left sitting there like, what the fuck did she just say????

  15. 15

it's easier to preach love than practise it… I'll always think of little Julian and how cruel the Onos were to him. Re the violence, the goss in the day was that one of the other fabs was the violent one with women

  16. 16

Re: StarCrunch – actually, the goss back in the day was that one of the other fabs was the violent one

Well no one told me about her
    the way she lied
Well no one told me about her
    how many people cried
But it's too late to say you're sorry
    How would I know
    why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find her
    She's not there

Well let me tell you ’bout the way she looked
The way she'd act and the color of her hair
Her voice was soft and cool
Her eyes were clear and bright
    But she's not there

Well no one told me about her, what could I do
Well no one told me about her, though they all knew
But it's too late to say you're sorry
How would I know, why should I care
Please don't bother tryin' to find her
    She's not there

Bjork covering Lennon would make me die.

Re: kastanza – Really? Not according to Paul or Ringo. In his biography there are two police reports about different men who were almost beaten to death, conincidentally on the same nights, according to the other 3, they were "pubbing." Paul never directly says it, but implies that John had another side. If you can't see that "other side" via some of his actions while he was alive, there's really nothing anyone can say that will ever change your mind about what you want to believe about him.

Re: Snickers – Thank you! I thought it rather clever myself :) I don't understand why this woman has albums out; she even has a greatest hits CD. Greatest Hits? Am I on another planet? And you are spot-on about how they treated Julian. Perhaps that's why in Perez's picture Sean looks like a happy asshat and Julian looks like he wants to kill the little shit. Couldn't Sean just do the right thing and give Julian a small part of his father's RIDICULOUS amount of assets?

  21. 21

Re: mariascredit – If you read my post I said it is "not defensible." Which according to Websters Dictionary means not capable of being defended. It is and was a horrible thing to do. But that does not make you a "serial" women beater. We don't know what was in his heart or what he did behind closed doors when he was in his early 20's but the evidence we have does not support that sweeping an allegation so throwing it out as truth is also indefensible.

And while I don't like Yoko at all wishing, with happiness, that she would "fall off the planet" would seem a worse wish on someone than wishing she would get a slap across the face.

  22. 22

WHY ICELAND?????? Not a lover of Yoko Ono and I dont' think the rest of the remaining Beatles are either despite what they say!! She's a poser!

  23. 23

    I wouldn't fuck her with Paris Hilton's strap-on!

  24. 24

What a wonderful way to honor his memory? Are you fucking serious? If by breaking up the Beatles and pimping Lennon's memory for the highest dollar, then yeah! get real assholes.

  25. 25

Now I just want to go douche my eyes with Lysol (R)

  26. 26

    She is such a whore………
She needs to go crawl under the bed with Zsa Zsa's douche bag hubby……………

  27. 27

Re: zooomba – I was being civil. Not now. You HAD TO GOOGLE THE DEFINITION OF "INDEFENSIBLE?" Really, you went there? How sad. So pathetic that you are trying to insinuate that I don't understand the meaning. And obviously you still do not understand the nature of abuse. Sad squared. Another thing, that is indefensible is your attempt to take an obvious joke about Yoko Ono and make it sound like a hate crime in a very weak attempt to reverse the situation. Again, so sad. Just so, so, sad.

  28. 28

Wow, some of you on here really need to educate yourselves. Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, it is by far the most environmental of all the world. The only problem I would have is that this would fall on a time I plan to revisit, shooting the flights up in price.
As for Yoko, get over it! Each member of that group contributed to it's destruction. Stop putting the blame on Yoko.

  29. @v@ says – reply to this

    29

Iceland's gorgeous and pristine. As long as she doesn't 'sing', this would be novel.

  30. 30

Yoko has done a lot to remember John in Iceland. She had this column of peace built and it's lit every year from John's deathdate to his birthdate. It's beautiful.

  31. 31

She has a lovely Peace Tower visible in Reykjavik from his birth to death date and on their honeymoon dates. I think she is not ONLY doing it for money, they seemed genuinely in love when John was still alive.
