Inneresting casting choice!

John Cusack has announced via Twitter that he has signed on to play iconic horror writer Edgar Allen Poe in The Raven!

The film, directed by James McTeigue, will reportedly be a fictionalized account of the author during his last days alive as he hunts down a serial killer who uses his stories as inspiration for his murders!

Cusack writes:

officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold - my way as i begin this journey into the abyss

The abyss is right! That dude was seriously fuuuucked up!

We imagine Cusack will be good at the mumbling, socially anxious part of the character, but we're not sure we can see him that twisted!

What do U think?? Will Cusack do a good job as Poe??

    Hell yes! He'll be great.

  2. 2

fucking a right he will. He"s perfect for the part!

  3. 3

you shouldnt call Edgar Allan Poe ”that dude”. Thats an insult to his genius

  4. 4

in a movie like this i expected the famous power couple i mean partners Tim burton and Johnny depp to execute it.

  5. 5

    Its Allan!

  6. 6

Do you purposely misspell interesting?? Because if you do, you just look like a stupid teenage girl. And do not insult Edgar Allen Poe. The man was a genius beyond your realm of understanding. And Cusack is perfect for it. He's one of the most underrated actors of my generation.

  7. 7

Would have been nice to see Joaquin Phoenix do it. Oh well….

  8. 8

Wow…now that I think about it, he is the prefect guy for the part. He kind of looks like Poe a tiny bit, too, in my opinion.

  9. 9

    He's still my #1 crush

  10. 10

Hello didn't you see him in Being John Malkovich? He plays creepy and twisted and pathetic really well. Poe was a genius for sure and John Cusack will for sure be great. However, I agree with lexiri that Joaquin would've been great to see as well. He stole my heart in To Die For.

    You know nothing of Poe.

The difference between Poe's level of "fucked up" and your level of "fucked up" is that he was a genius, and the people of today are losers who bring shit upon themselves.

Maybe you should write more positive things about "iconic" authors/writers such as Poe, instead of writing negative things…because the breed of people like that simply exists no longer.

That's okay though, just continue to perpetuate the ignorant, superficial gossip monster than you continue to do.

I don't expect you to understand, you're just not on that level, nor will you ever be.

I think it'll be great to see him in a role that isn't John-Cusack-gets-the-girl or a wacky sci-fi thriller. I bet he rises to the occasion of this role and knocks it out of the park.

  13. 13

    He will nail the part…

    he sucks

  15. 15

they should have had johnny depp play this role .. also the plot sounds awful. I mean they could of just done a movie about the mans life and it would of been twisted and scary enough they didn't need to add a serial killer i mean really? its almost insulting to the late edgar.

  16. 16

    Ohhhhhhh nooooo

  17. 17

Great choice! Actually, Perez, Poe wasn't that f'd up. He invented the modern science of Cryptography and was brilliantly gifted and smart. His death may have been murder by poison and not the intoxicated drunk legend we were told. This story will be fake but who cares? It's John Cusak and he will rock it.

  18. 18

yessssss! he can totally pull it off!

  19. 19

as someone who has spent many a late night in Elfreth's Alley, I think Cusack will do Poe justice

  20. 20

I think he will be perfect for it. He's great at that being all washed up and crazy stuff.

  21. 21

He will do it justice, but I think Joaquin Phoenix would have been interesting.

  22. 22

    Sorry– have to disagree.
Poe is a strong name and needs a strong actor. Not a good pair,

  23. 23

Bad hairline. Also, he looks like Johnny Weir's older brother.

  24. 24

STOP with the 'inneresting' already. You are NOT going to get a call from the producers of the next BATMAN movie.

you are SO obvious and embarrassing.

  25. 25

Sounds like another self agrandizing vehicle for a washed up star.

If anyone can twist himself around mentally enough to master this part it is John Cusask! Versitile and smart.

  27. 27

Cusack is worth watching in anything.

  28. 28

First, it's Allan. Second, calling him "an iconic horror writer" and "fuuuucked up" is embarrassingly ignorant. He was a one-of-a-kind poet. Perez, I pity you when you finally start hearing the beat of your own personal telltale heart.

    What a part.

  30. 30

Johnny Depp would be better, but Cusack will have to do i suppose.

  31. 31

John WHO??? :-d The only one more boring & fugly than him is his SISTER!
