James Cameron Hates Piranha 3D!

Meow!

Director James Cameron as we all know loves 3D technology, but he is NOT a fan of Piranha 3D one bit! He explains:

"I tend almost never to throw other films under the bus, but [Piranha 3D] is exactly an example of what we should not be doing in 3-D. Because it just cheapens the medium and reminds you of the bad 3-D horror films from the 70s and 80s, like Friday the 13th 3-D.

"When movies got to the bottom of the barrel of their creativity and at the last gasp of their financial lifespan, they did a 3-D version to get the last few drops of blood out of the turnip."

Wowsa!

Tell us how you really feel, James!

He's right…because 3D is a fade…it still hurts your eyes…and doing it badly will just end it sooner

  2. 2

I'm sure Piranha 3D is probably even better than that pretentious piece of shit "Avatar" I'll take the cheesiest 3D flick over Cameron's romantic bleeding heart bullshit any day!

  3. 3

…says the man whose second film directed just happens to be Piranha Part Two:The Spawning. Which he also wrote.

    BWAHAHAHAHA

    Turnips don't bleed Jimmy.

  6. 6

HE'S AN IDIOT!!! That was the point of the movie. It was a spoof flick.

I totally agree! Seriously; $24-Million Dollar budget and I read there's a Sequel set for 2012? I'm all for 'T&A 3-D, but not at $14.50 the price of admission. Zillion dollar remakes of old 'In Your Face Sci-Fi's isn't the future of 3-D. Didn't Avatar teach us anything? Didn't it give us hope that the movie industry might look to the future rather than dredge up the past? Someone had too much money to burn with this one. What's next? Attach of the Killer Tomatoes? I'll skip that one too.

I don't particularly care for his lackluster taste in writers; there's no excuse for beautiful cinematography to be overshadowed by bad storytelling. But I agree with his statement and applaud him for saying it.

  9. 9

Hey, I liked Friday the 13th in 3D! I take offense, Cameron. Shut up and fix the oil spill or the floods in Pakistan. (now… I will resume watching Snakes on Plane)

  10. 10

He should shut his fucking piehole. He's a greedy whore who re-released Avaturd with 8 extra minutes in a vile, disgusting cash grab. And he did direct Piranha 2: The Spawning, the sequel to the original Piranha. He's a douche bag and Avaturd sucked.

  11. 11

He doesn't own 3D. If people wanna see a horror movie in 3D it's their right to. But I think all 3D movies are stupid. And Avatar was highly overrated

  12. 12

He should listen to his own words, isn't Avatar getting re-released with an expanded extraterrestrial love-making scene to cash in on more money?
Didn't Avatar hurt EVERYONE's eyes? lol

  13. 13

    he's right!

  14. 14

says the man who took the story of Pocahantas and retitled it 'Avatar'

  15. 15

i agree, i havent seen the movie but just looking at the commercials it looks cheap.

  16. 16

    Avatar wasn't all that either.
    3D sucks.

  17. 17

Cameron is a dumb fucking asshole who doesn't know the first thing about the quality of movies unless 3 million people are working under him. People who like Avatar like it on an equally superficial level because they think it looks pretty. It's a piece of garbage and it probably did more harm to the environment than good. Think about how many computers were burnt out creating these graphics?

  18. 18

this guy is a joke, its too bad people dont demand refunds for all of his avatar bs

    'He has spoken.'
    Now he should go away.

  20. 20

    i want 2 see piranha 3d lol

  21. 21

I love you James, but old horror movies rule!

  22. 22

He misses the point. Piranha 3D was meant to be fun summer entertainment, not the overwrought drama he specializes in these days. Piranha was a lot of retro fun. More fun then Avitar. For every Citizen Kane, you need a couple of Marx Brothers and Bela Lugosi movies to make the medium survive.

  23. 23

Hes such an asshole. Movies will always be Good Bad or in the middle. 3D is always the same…Always 3D, the movies are the ones that change…whats his problem????????

  24. 24

Piranha Part Two: The Spawning (1981)
Directed by James Cameron. With Tricia O'Neil, Steve Marachuk, Lance Henriksen. A scuba diving instructor, her biochemist boyfriend, and her police chief …

  25. 25

i think a lot of people hate this movie… it sucks! its so shitty!

WAAAAAHHHH My name's James Cameron, I'm the KING OF THE WORLD, I'm the BEST and ONLY qualified visionary of 3D, My Avatar is so PERFECT I'm gonna make you watch it again in the movie theaters. I even had a conversation with God and he told me I am the best moviemaker EVER, that I'm even better than the Almighty Himself!

Do you think he's jaded because Piranha 3D is the sleeper hit of the summer that even the staunchest critics are praising? 75% on rottentomatoes.com is not an easy score to get. Maybe he's mad that in week 2 of release the box office BEAT his Avatar:Special Edition regurgitated opening by a landslide.

  27. 27

3d shrek was good i saw some of it at movieworld on the gold coast it was awesome but 3d is like any other fad people will get bored real fast so it doesnt matter if its 3d crap or not ..but james cameron would know hes a expert in movies so i would tend to go by his review myself

  28. 28

This coming from a guy who directed THE exemplary example of cinematic mediocrity – the highly derivative and unoriginal Avatard.

This jerkwad needs to fuck off.

  29. 29

It is the worst movie I"ve seen in a long time. There's funny stupid horror movies like Evil Dead, this one looked like it tried to mock something similar. It was just horrible!

  30. 30

Cameron and his big ego and fuck right off. "Cheapens 3-D"? LOL! 3-D has always been a technical stunt to get people into the theater.

  31. 31

    Re: Soda-Pop-Lover

You are wrong. The movie got lots of very good reviews.

  33. 33

i think that was the intention. stop taking everything so seriously, it was a tongue in cheek kind of film

  34. 34

    Jealous

  35. 35

    douche..
