Diddy Sued For Not Digging Old Ladies

Francesca Spero, who claims that she launched P. Diddy’s career, is suing him for $12 million in an anti-age-discrimination lawsuit.
Apparently (according to Spero) the relationship between the two, which started in 1998, went south when Spero needed hip surgery in 2008 and then degenerated further when she suffered a relapse to prescription medication and alcohol.
According to her report, Diddy was “unsympathetic to her condition” and tried to push her out of the company. In March 2010, she was fired and replaced by a woman much younger who "lacked the skill set and experience Spero brought to the position."

There is probably much more to this story than just old-lady hate. She had some alcohol and drug issues, and maybe he didn't want that shit around him. Addicts lie and sometimes steal. He probably just had enough bullshit.

He let go of an employee who admits to drug and alcohol abuse.
Unless she has a smoking gun or something to buttress her claims, she has no case. Why should Diddy be forced to carry a dead weight?

Sympathetic to her condition? Oh, I'm sorry you old hag, I didn't know that jobs were to be held for people who have a problem with drugs and alcohol. Just because she happens to be old, she thinks she found a way to make a quick buck. Disgraceful. I hate Diddy, but hope he wins this case.
If she was covered by insurance, he should pay it - alcoholism is a disease and is covered under ALL insurance plans as such. Pay up, P Diddy you cheapskate.

What a grasping loser. She admits she became a pill abusing alcoholic yet insists she was fired because she was old. I hope he fights this and does not settle with her and that she has to pay HIS court costs.

Re: Roccomagoo – really? ALL insurance plans? my insurance won't even cover birth control, but it must cover alcohol/drug addiction, right? false. most insurance plans won't cover any kind of rehab. Besides, she's not suing him for not paying her. She's suing him for unreasonable termination of employment. A case she will not win.

Re: Roccomagoo – haha right. cuz the insurance companies do EVERYTHING according to the law. what about kids who have diabetes but the insurance companies won't cover their insulin because it's a "pre-existing condition?" What about me, I am a high-risk for cervical cancer and if I ever DO get cervical cancer my insurance policy will not cover any treatment. What about women who see therapists for post-traumatic stress disorder after having children, only to find their insurance companies have DROPPED them (I personally know two women this has happened to).

Actually, you are wrong. The AMA (American Medical Association) treats Alcoholsim as disease, as it is. It is covered on all plans. You are incorrect if you are claiming that your insurance won't cover rehab if you are deemed an addict - which I'm sure you have no idea about. That said, if she is suing just for agism, I have no idea about that…I was merely commenting on the alcholism part. And you are wrong!!!!!

I'm not making a commentary on Diabetes- - my husband has Type 1, I'm very well aware of the condition. What I know is that if someone becomes an alcoholic, it is considered a disease on EVERY plan - because it has been diagonosed as a disease, as it should. I feel bad for your situation, and I feel bad for my husband who got Type 1 at age 27 because his pancreas failed him. Either way, both should be covered.
Uhhh, maybe it wasn't the fact that she old or had hip surgery, may be it was the fuckin fact that she was boozing it up and take prescription pills?? HMMMMM! Jackass…I wouldn't be sympathetic to that.

It sounds like she's not taking responsibility for her drinking and pill popping. However great the skill set of the worker, if they are consistently impaired by drugs and alcohol, they are no longer as useful to the company. It's a practical, logical issue, and not one about feelings or sympathy. There is no place for drugs and alcohol in business if it is to function optimally. Her age seems less the factor than the drug and alcohol abuse. Either way, it's a sad situation. I wish them well.
To all the Diddy haters. I've been there. Was a fan in the early days then he got too cocky and full of himself for me. I couldn't resist watching Making the Bank so I could shoot finger guns at him the whole time. Much to my surprise the more I watched the show the more I started realizing something…..no matter what ….he works his ASS off. That attitude has certianly gotten him results. He is incredibly successful and most of what he touches turns to gold. Diddy is a perfectionist, a workaholic and a slave driver….sort of the hip hop version of Prince (producer-wise) Every CEO has to do that sometimes. She was sick and missing work, popping pills and drinking again. It's HER sickness. It never said Diddy didn't try to help her and it's obvious she had insurance to get her hip surgury. If she came back to work after all of that and couldn't do her job he should have given her time to improve and if she didn't he has no reason to want to waste money in a business. Ya know there are times I would like to walk up to Diddy and ask him who the heck does he think he is….I think shaking his pedestal would be good for him but I cannot deny his SUCCESS. He's doing something right all these years. Oh and Last Train to Paris. Love it but if I didn't I'd still appreciate that he had the balls to try something out of his comfort zone.
There are too many pieces of this story missing
Two years is fairly patient time span dealing with someone who continues to act like they're past their expiry date professionally. It's not fair, but the question is, to whom. Anyone can also see his side of it.
