I hope they don't go under. They are the only chain bookstore I will go to make purchases. I refuse to go into Barnes and Noble.

Bankruptcy is rampant in America — both corporate and individual — as a result of the Bank Bailouts. Banks are getting fat off of low rates that they can borrow money while the citizens ("subjects") of the USA are afraid to spend money where borrowing from banks is involved. When the banks were bailed out, the banks attacked the citizens of the country that bailed them out by decreasing their lending rate and demanding large payments due to amounts borrowed previous to the lowering of their maximum amount allowed. America is suffering due to Legalized Loansharking.

I worked for Borders for 17 years at the Customer Contact Center and they just told their employees that have been there 20 years that they are moving the center to the Phillipines. I am so glad I don't work there any longer but my heart aches for my old coworkers. They are a great group and I hope they all find new jobs.

They have already ceased trading here in the UK

Retairler- is that kind of like T-airlor Swift or T-airlor Momsen? Being from down south here i see nothin' wrong with that…

their stuff is also a bit too pricey i mean, a book can cost between the $30, etc. Im pretty sure if they lower their prices they might get more $$ than having the books just sit there in the shelfs

they are overpriced and have no place in the retail market. i hope they go out of business

FYI-Bookstores do NOT make their prices. They are all stamped with the retail price on the cover. They do not make special prices from store to store or company to company. You see the same price in Borders as you do in Walmart. However Walmart chooses to mark a percentage off of the retail price. But, there IS a huge markup on books. You'd be surprised at how little these retailers pay for books.

I worked for Borders and they are monsters against their employees. Awful place.

      Noesssss! =[

I love Borders! I hope they will be okay!!!!

I worked for Borders for 7 years and was treated like total garbage for the better part of the last 3 years. I was bullied, threatened, and forced to work under a tyrant. No raises in the last three years …that was the icing on the cake. Perhaps, karmically if they had treated their employees better, they wouldn't be in this mess.

i love borders! well… i love books. i hope that not all people are switching over to electronics books. i love holding a book and running my fingers through the pages. :(

No!! I love Borders! Its one of my fav. places to hang out. I hope they're able to stay in business!

Independent booksellers have it even harder than Borders. When I worked for a small mom and pop bookstore we could buy books cheaper at Wall Mart than at the distributor. Think about that. We could buy from Wall Mart and mark it up at our little store and get a better profit than what our distributor would offer. Indies have it worse. Time for a revolution in arts including lit.

I love Borders because of their great 40% off (any item) coupons. They have one available now through the 6th of Sept. You can Google it. Barnes & Noble never gives deals like this.
