Poor Drew!

| Filed under: Film FlickersDrew BarrymoreJustin LongGeorge Clooney

Drew Barrymore's new movie Going the Distance completely tanked this weekend, opening up in fifth place with $2.2 million.

Guess people had no interest in seeing if Drew has any chemistry with her on-and-off boyfriend Justin Long.

Machete took the top spot with $3.9 million and George Clooney's The American came in second with $3.8 million.

So far, seems like a slow movie weekend.

What are U seeing this Labor Day weekend?

I think that was only Friday's Box Office. BoxOfficeMojo has it as "The American" as #1 with $12.9 million

  2. 2

why would i pay money to see shit on a screen?

  3. 3

I wouldnt say her movie tanked. She was up against some fierce competition. Actually Drew's going the distance is a good movie!!! Definitely a must see. I'm not a big Drew fan, but i think this bar far is one of her best movies yet. The next movie for me this weekend is "Machete". I'll pass on the American although it does look pretty good.

  4. 4

They advertised this on TV every 15 minutes and pretty much showed the whole movie! The TV spot was literally like 10 minutes

  5. 5

Not surprising. All her movies tank b/c they're all generic rom-coms with no substance and the same recycled plot line.

  6. 6

Get it right Perez! The numbers you posted are only from Friday..Looks like Drew does have another bimb to her credit.

Perez, where are you getting this inaccurate information? According to Cominsoon.net,Deadline Hollywood, and Boxoffice mojo, The American was #1 this week with George Clooney and Machette was #2. Yeah, Drew's movie did come in at #3 but your numbers are wrong. You did this several times with AVATAR. You kept bumping it to #2 where it had stayed at #1. Research the box office tally more carefully.

  8. 8

Er… where do you get your numbers, Perez?
Top spot is The American - $12,968,744
    2nd - Takers - $11,450,000
    3rd - Machete - $11,300,000
    4th - The Last Excorcism - $7,550,000
    5th - Going the distance - $6,885,000
at least try to get some things right, once in a while…

    Re: curiousred – LOL! Nice!

  10. 10

Going the Distance was FUNNY!! I haven't laughed out loud in a theater so much in a long long time. The whole theater laughed a lot. The jokes were very spontaneous and surprised me/caught me off guard….a fresh change from formulaic, labored jokes.

And there was real sincerity in the touching scenes. Good actor chemistry. B+ and worth full price.

  11. 11

The best part about this is the asshole won't even bother to correct himself.

It's sad there are *some* people who will read this and take his word for it.

  12. 12

uhm… i don't think this film was advertised enough. i only found out about it Friday when i was searching online for flick to go see. I went to see hers, and didn't disappoint. Although it didn't get great reviews from the critics… it had the whole theater cracking up. and the soundtrack is not bad either. :)

  13. 13

As per above, your reporting sucks. "Distance"really did suck. Barries was terrible. Any attaction between her & Long is Martian fantasy. To her credit, there was nothing to be done with a dog of a script & she was at the mercy of an alcoholic crew. The continuity and makeup people should never work again. There's one scene where Ms. Barrymore is forced to be filmed with no makeup at all and it is a brutal, ugly sight. And again in it's defense, GTD ends up kinda sweet & feeling good and a lot better than at least half the crap released this summer.

  14. 14

Too many date movies, more like 500 first dates.

  15. 15

Machete rocked and Lindsay was great in it and gorgeous.
Michelle Rodrigues is bad as hell and she is just super hot.
Jessica Alba was gorgeous as well.

I loved The Lawnmower Man, he was the best actor in it and Don Johnson was good too.
Segal was not good in it but they put him as a bad guy and that is not what he normally plays so it was awkward for him.
He really needs to be in the next Expendables and so does Van Damme.

  16. 16

  17. 17

I love how you fail to mention Takers being so successful… perez get your facts right

  18. 18

I knew there was something wrong with those numbers…Thanks curiosred.

But the box off numbers are still very low.

  19. 19

That's too bad. I saw it and it was actually pretty funny and good…and I've seen some shitty rom coms. Drew's really likeable and real in it–way better than Aniston, Lopez, or Heigl.

  20. 20

Umm I just got home from seeing Drew's movie.. it was so fucking funny…. you people are crazy if you don't go see it instead of something stupid as fuck like Machete.

  21. 21

Actually, all the movies sucked for this weekend. NOT GOOD TAKES. Yes, this is Labor Day Weekend, and with the exeption of EARL creeping up the coast and giving some parts of the east coast rain on Friday -across the country, it has been a nice weekend, so maybe people have been out and not spreading bedbugs in theaters. Anyhoo, Drew was in A LOVE STORY, Love stories are not going to be #1 most of the time, not guy movies. Action flicks are normally #1, but most of the movies sucked.

  22. 22

George Clooney playing an American. Now that's funny!

  23. 23

Re: Angus8 – I think Acting in general is awkward for Segal LOL

  24. 24

I saw Grown Ups in the cheap theater this weekend and it was packed.

  25. 25

  26. 26

    Who cares?

  27. 27

you fat fuck, learn to copy and paste correctly
    these are just fridays numbers

  28. 28

im watching dvds of ENTOURAGE as im now obsessed with johnny drama (kevin dillon) i always thought him and matt were werid looking except when i was 13 but now im obsessed with kevin hes adorable and very funny and i have to say I WOULD DO HIM!! he makes me laugh so hard …
now that is real talent.. those guys are great… i wish i could see it hear i dont know if its even on tv here …

and the rest of the guys ..great too

as for drew … always the same isnt it boy loves girl loses girl boy chases girl blha blah blah her bf on the other hand has been in some amazing movies drag me to hell was fantastic most of it anyways… the exorcist scene was a little shady but i overlooked it as i loved the rest of the movie…

  29. 29

Drew is completely "overexposed and commercialized" (Travelling Wilburies) from her Maybelline and other endorsements. Plus she has played the ingenue to death. She's really quite mediocre, her roles are romantic or kookie. Time for Drew to dig deep.

  30. 30

    lol :D

Thank you for all the wrong and malicious information!!!!

  32. 32

Damn i didn't even know Machete was coming out this weekend if not I would have gone to see it . Robert Rodriguez does not dissapoint

  33. 33

At the Theater in Dallas where I worked, we opened both Machete and Going the Distance. Going the Distance sold slightly better than Machete.

  34. mben says – reply to this

I saw going the distance and it was a really good movie… probably better than the other two. You can't account for the public's lack of taste and not to mention it is a holiday weekend. People are bbqing and not going to the movies….except for me obviously. But honestly I was suprised by how good going the distance was. I don't love rom coms. They usually disapoint, but this was a winner. Great dialogue and well played!

  35. 35

Machete is kicking Drew´s ass. And, he´s loving it! Kkkkkkkkkk.

  36. 36

well annastasia drew is actually kicking machet's ass because she makes 15 million dollars per movie lol bitches.

  37. 37

Sundown…you better take care, if I hear you've been creepin round my back stair…

  38. 38

Why don't you go and try to sell your clap elsewhere, skankalicious?

  39. 39

    Open the door and realize…

  40. 40

Yeah…'I Don't Wanna Cry' by Mariah Carey says it.

  41. 41

You know something interesting I've noticed? You've set me up to be in an impossible situation here, where anything you do that suits you is fine…b/c you 'need to be loved' or 'you're alive and have needs'. I apparently don't and whatever I need doesn't enter into it. Anything I do that isn't exactly as you decide it should be is wrong. In other words, you've attempted to set up a no win situation so you can control me.

  42. 42

You never satisfied me on any level when we were supposedly 'together'. Sorry honey…if you're alone when we're 'together', it wasn't my choice for the longest time. I just gave up on you when I realized I wasn't OK with the no win situation you were calling love. You are beautiful and wonderful, but neither of us is at our best when we're 'together' and you obviously feel that or you wouldn't have been with that dude. So stay with him if you like him so much. If it's easy and good and all the things you wanted. I just can't do this one anymore. It's too painful.

  43. 43

You're not my wife! Although I know you like to play that when it suits you (usually in an effort to cling on and hurt me some more). :)

    Rolling eyes.

  44. 44

I have no love lost for Justin Long, but he is funny and he was the Mac dude long before Drew sashayed into his heart. I suspect she does sashay with a lovely set of heels before she leaves a relationship too. You know the foot wear will be styling…and high heeled. :)

Maybe she will stay with this relationship with Long though and they will wind up going the distance instead of creating a shiva house out of their current den of iniquities.

Three storms: Tropical Storm Karl, Hurricane Igor and Hurricane Julia—are stirring in the Atlantic and Caribbean simultaneously in this image taken at 4:15 am EDT (Sept 15, 2010).

I suggest you evacuate and stay out of their path.

The comedy was an effort to 'let you go'…you fucking twat.

Have I embarassed you? I apologize for all the ways I've wronged you.
However…going forward, if you're not going to be alone, I won't either. I need to feel alive again.

  51. 51

You know I love you and I know you love me. I'm sorry for hurting you….But if I don't have to be alone going forward, I'm not going to be.

  52. 52

I'm starting to feel strong again with a smile on my face. :)
    Hope you are too.

  53. 53

    La la la….can't hear a thing. :)

  54. 54

I do love you Drew. That's why I'm going to try to let you go.

  55. 55

If I see Justine at some point down the road…I may be inclined to punch him in the balls, but I won't use any kind of cutting device on him. OK?

  56. 56

See I don't know if you really want me or an insurance policy. I think it's A+B or B, but definitely B. B for Barrymore and balls…balls I'm going to grow and his I'm might punch if he irritates me excessively between now and whenever I see him. You got that, shortround? Shortroundhouse to the groin. You know you've got that coming.

  57. 57

    Listen you…I've decided it's B. B for busted nuts. :)

    ha ha ha….la la la….i don't hear anything. :)

  58. 58

I'm not giving up, so don't give up on me.

  59. 59

Quit trying to pee in my cornflakes.

  60. 60

So I'm being 'tested' by a woman who's never even kissed me and has been banging somebody else instead of loving me? Sorry, I decline.

  61. 61

Not laughing at you. Laughing at bad situation. What else to do? Cry some more? Been there done that.

  62. 62

You never gave me your love, babe? Remember? I've had a harder time forgetting that which you try to use as a manipulation tool instead of an expression of love.

  63. 63

I know what you need? I'm keeping it in mind and heart as much as I can. Just can't continue to let you make me crazy.

  64. 64

I'm smiling. I'm sending you a smile. Not laughing at you. Just sending you a smile.

  65. 65

    You are my best friend.

  66. 66

Uh oh…Jim Croche's Operator is rearing it's ugly head. Oh Brother, Where Art Though?

  67. 67

According to you, I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't b/c you're trying to control and play me. I recognize it.

'As the Cun+ Turns' will no longer be airing (also known as the radio show I've been apparently doing up til now). It will be replaced with something far more interesting.

  68. 68

Even though the crumbs you throw are transparent
    Your beauty is still apparent

  69. 69

I should be able to voice an opinion in what should be the privacy of where I'm living.

Aka sorry Ryan Reynolds…my friend just thought you should know I did not enjoy your editorial.

  70. 70

My friend and others would do much better not to listen if they do not enjoy what they hear. There is always that option.

  71. 71

So…how can we make this end? I am going to go make some music. Are you planning to screw with it? I hope you don't, but if you do, know that you will get nothing. OK?

  72. 72

btw…I would normally come over near where you are and cackle at your sadness in person, but instead, I think I will take your advice and do it via song.

  73. 73

You're a sicko, lady (aka creeper).

  74. 74

Just so you know…I did get mine and will be getting more shortly.

  75. 75

"I'll rip you a new hiney", Drew Barrymore was quoted as saying before she started going to work on her latest piece.

"Drew, you've been a pain in my ass long enough.", I was quoted as saying.

  76. 76

  77. 77

    You know what?

Drew = total waste of time

  78. 78

Come on, give it up honey! You say you're going, but like all the rest of it, it's just a tease. I'm over it. I'm going to find somebody else. It will be easy to treat them well, too.
