James Cameron is the king of 3D.

This year he will be traveling to the rain forests of Brazil to shoot a 3D documentary about indigenous people of the Amazon trying to stop the construction of a large dam that will make their land a potential flood zone.

“I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me,” said Cameron. "I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture.”

It sounds sort of like a real-life Avatar, except without giant blue people. We can’t wait!

Here's another example of a brilliant but crazy man.

save the money youd spent on this crap fest and just donate it to helping the tribe

Oh so now he wants to bring awareness to actual tribes in peril? Why didn't you focus on this before making that Pretentious, superficial piece of crap? Hell there's people who know more about those alien blue people than they do indigenous societies thanks to you!

He should do a documentary on how the amazonian tribe likes to buried the children 9 or 10 yrs old alive when they don't want them. I saw it in utube and it was sad.

Re: fickdichpogmothoin! – Are you serious?? is that for real? cause I'll go to my account right now to see it.

Re: you want this – It's a controversial topic, the government in brazil and the locals denied it and I personally though it was untrue, until a tribal women abruptly said that she couldn't go to sleep because the cries of the child that was buried kept her from sleeping until early morning when it stop.

Re: poorlittlerichiegirl – totally agree; he's the devil anyway in my opinion, lol

I like Avatar and I think it is an important voice- but definitely safer to create an abstract tribe that functions as a parable than to focus on an actual one. That sounds problematic- blockbuster money meets delicate indigenous infrastructure sounds like a potential shitshow. Maybe he's just dreaming anyway, but filming a sensitive documentary could be within his scope, and it might help promote an awareness of the degradation of indigenous cultures. And breed a respect for their importance.

I think its great. Documentation of the ruination of the rain forest will eventually affect everyone in the world.

Even if I think he's a giant ego bordering on douche, and am happy that someone is attempting to document this, I hope he's careful. He'll be in another country, and some powerful local people obviously want to push through that dam for their idea of their country's future no matter what. He's known for shooting his mouth off about things in other countries before researching the 360 picture.
