Good!

A parole board has decided not to release John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman, after his interview that took place today via teleconference at Attica Correctional Facility in upstate New York.

It was Chapman's sixth appearance before the board since becoming eligible for parole back in 2000. He will be eligible once again in 2012.

The board wrote to Chapman that they remain concerned about "the disregard you displayed for the norms of our society and the sanctity of human life when, after careful planning, you travelled to New York for the sole purpose of killing John Lennon" and that "release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community."

Thoughts?

It's a good thing they are keeping him there, because he is crazy! Although I can't help but wonder what political influence this may have???

  3. 3

Well…That's good that the Killer will be in prison

    R.I.P John Lennon

  4. 4

    Will still be in jail*
    (damn grammer errors)
The killer deserves to be in jail for a longer sentence for killing such a good musican

  5. 5

"the disregard you displayed for the norms of our society and the sanctity of human life when, after careful planning, you travelled to New York for the sole purpose of killing John Lennon" and that "release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community."

DAMN RIGHT!!!!!! LET THE BASTARD ROT IN JAIL, HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE DEATH PENALTY!!!!!!

R.I.P. John, your soul lives on in your music and our hearts.

  6. 6

What a nice way to say "You're never going to come out of prison for killing a celebrity"

  7. 7

Rot in jail you sack of shit.

  8. 8

    rot in jail

  9. 9

I'm glad for that, but I don't think it really matters anymore because I really think that if he were ever to be released he would be killed nearly immediately. So either way he's screwed. Ugh. Hate that guy.

  10. 10

Re: Thomas Chi – LOL !! Thomas ,I am lovin your comment !! LMAF

  11. 11

he should never be on the outside again, shoot him in the head and be done.

  12. 12

i cant help but wonder if he is getting the same treatment any other murderer elligible (sp?) for parole would get or if JUST the reason they are giving for denying it is the fact that he killed, you know, John Lennon. Goes both ways: it sucks when the justice system goes easy on someone because they killed a John Doe and it sucks when the system goes unreasonabily (sp?) hard on someone just because they killed a celebrity or someone of importance.
sorry about the spelling errors but i am not a natural english speaker

I can't help but think that Mark would be a free man by now if he had killed a nobody instead of John Lennon…

  14. 14

I hope Chapman ROTS in jail.

  15. @v@ says – reply to this

    15

Most killers do seven and out in three. He's done ten times that. I wonder why.

  16. 16

Bleeding hearts out there shouldn't lose sight of the fact that even if the parole board let this convicted murderer out into the general population, he would be nothing but a moving target. Maybe one of you would be kind enough to take him in…ya know…since the system has been unreasonably hard on him. Jeeezus.

  17. 17

I can't help but agree with Laury; he probably would be out if he killed a nobody because nobody usually have no one in their corner pushing for them like John had Yoko! Anyway, all considered, let the asshole rot in hell regardless! If I remember correctly, he came from wealthy family and apparently, they're not pulling out all the stops to release him either!

  18. 18

Thank God - he better stay in jail for the rest of his "life"!!!!!

  19. 19

    Thank Goodness!!!!

John Lennon: The Genius Beatle. RIP, we love & miss you John.

  21. 21

Re: Lysithea – Your English skills seem better than the average American so I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.

  22. 22

After over 30 years I don't see why this guy should stay in jail. It's not going to bring John Lennon back. Yoko Ono has done everything in her power for him not to get out, and while I understand where she comes from I don't think it's a smart attitude after such a long time. With forgiveness comes appeasement. And of course he's definitely getting a different treatment because he killed a celebrity.

    Re: Revolennon
I was just going to say what you came on and said first. The man seems to not realize he killed a beloved pop icon. He'd be safer in jail, I am pretty sure.

Although Karla Homolka (google her for those who don't know), aka Canada's most hated, got out and hasn't been murdered yet, so who knows.

  24. 24

I SAY THAT YES HE DID SOMETHING HORRIBLY WRONG, BUT THE QUESTION IS IF JOHN LEGEND WASN'T AN ICON WOULD THE KILLER STILL BE IN THERE?? AND THE ANSWER IS NO! SO I SAY SET HIM FREE!!!! YOU GUYS WOULDN'T GIVE A TWO SHITS ABOUT THE PERSON KILLED IF THEY WEREN'T FAMOUS, SO SHOVE IT! R.I.P JOHN, I KNOW BY NOW YOU WOULD FORGAVE HIM.

  25. 25

    Yat 46 bg

  26. 26

If Chapman was ever released, he'd likely be murdered the moment he stepped out of jail.

  27. 27

I don't see why he got denied. Sure John Lennon was a legend etc.. but MANY MANY other people get murdered by the same type of killer and they get released in an instant. Its honestly not fair that celebrities get special treatment.

  28. 28

    GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being a child of the 60's, the assination of John Lennon was one of those events that I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news.
    Rest in peace.

  29. 29

    Re: BetterFasterStronger – totally agree.

  30. 30

Re: BetterFasterStronger – Oh he definitely gets different treatment. Did you know he gets conjugal visits with his wife? He gets up to 40 hours of alone time with her. Now you may thing that isn't much, but just think of how much alone time Yoko Ono gets with John Lennon. Zero.

  31. 31

Now he is gonna keep getting "paroles" every other year until he finds a good argument and gets released and on the loose again? parole my ass, he should get the chair for what he did, period.

  32. 32

Re: BetterFasterStronger – Yoko Ono has stated that she would be scared if he was on the loose again, and its perfectly understandable, if she cant have Lennon back, at least let the woman have peace and freedom to walk on the streets with out the fear of being shot by this monster.

  33. 33

Thoughts? If i remember correctly this guy was a delusional psychopath. He belongs in a hospital, not jail . . . for life, may i add. Fuck him. He silenced a genius.

  34. 34

THIS IS TOTAL BULLCRAP. IF HE HAD DONE THAT TO ANYONE ELSE HE WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT A LONG TIME AGO.

  35. 35

Re: Lysithea – why the fuck are you "wondering that?" You're sick. seek help.

  36. 36

Re: Laury – than maybe you should do some research on the subject , you dumb piece of shit.

  37. 37

    Re: Soapwitch – right on

  38. 38

THIS IS SIMILAR TO CHARLIE MANSON. THIS MAY BE SHOCKING BUT DID YOU KNOW CHARLIE NEVER KILLED ANYONE? HE IS DEMONIZED IN THE MEDIA AND IS DENIED PAROLE FOR A LIFETIME AND HE ISNT EVEN GUILTY, HE WAS JUST RAILROADED BY A "JUSTICE" SYSTEM THAT IS HYPERSENSITIVE TO THE PUBLICITY THAT GOES WITH A CELEBRITY CRIME

  39. 39

IMO, they should have killed him a long ass time ago. So he gets to sit in jail, get 3 meals a day, TV, books, etc. while INNOCENT people in this country starve. Lovely. Just brilliant.

  40. 40

He has no soul. To kill an innocent person for no reason is just wrong. He is right where he belongs.

  41. 41

Re: evancalo – he killed John. He wasn't just a celebrity. Chapman deserves to suffer

  42. 42

Anyone who kills someone on purpose, should remain in jail. Famous victim or not.

  43. 43

    Good Riddance.
John Lennon was an amazing, caring and loving human being, he wanted nothing more than peace and love and this man murdered him, for what reason may i ask. it's an outrage.
Mark David Chapman should be locked up for life!

  44. 44

he is still in prison only because he killed someone people without any taste called an icon.

if the justice system was fair he would have been out 6 years after he killed that no talent hack.

the beatles are a drug induced joke.
their music sucks its a stupid fad that people know if they claim to love these losers they get fame. hell the monkeys were better then them and they were a joke on porpuse

  45. 45

he should be honored for killing that joke of a talented guy

  46. 46

I heard in the news that a guy killed his wife and his kids and got only 7 years for it.
Just because Lennon was famous doesn't mean that his murder was of more importance to the murder of an average joe/jane.

  47. 47

    let him rot in prison

  48. 48

the board forgot to mention that the second he's a free man, someone is going to shoot HIM dead…

  49. 49

To all the idiots that posted thinking he should be let out after all this time "FUCK YOU". Rot in jail or execution should be his only option.

  50. 50

He did his time, like anybody else. Should he do MORE time because it was a celebrity he killed? NO, he should do what everybody else has to do. UNLESS he has given reason during his incarceration, for why he should not be released.
Why is the life of a celeb worth more than a non-celeb? We all eat, breathe and die the same.

  51. 51

Re: annamc – the problem is celebrities are out there in the public eye and if this creep gets treated like anybody else and is released it would just encourage other wackos to just go out and kill famous people
that is where the difference lies
I hope he never gets out and it is just disgusting to me there have been movies made about him and people like us are talking about him

  52. 52

i can't believe some of your guys who refer to John Lennon as just a celebrity? John was a Beatle. Most of you guys must be too young to have lived through the advent of the Beatles but I know you know their music. they were the ost creative best band on the planet earth. Chapman took away any chance of a Beatle Reunion as they aged. if they let him out of jail, his life would be in jeopardy. I do believe he was insane but his crime was insane and so be it..

  53. 53

If he had killed John Lennon in Texas (or any other death penalty state), he would have already had a needle in his arm. Instead, every two years since his "eligibility" Lennon's family has to deal with the possibility of the person who killed their beloved family member being let out on the streets.

You bleeding hearts who are going on about how if he had killed anyone else he would have been released by now are not considering that he was a father, husband, family member, friend and was senselessly taken from those lives forever. This was no bloody accident. This psychopath deliberately walked up to John Lennon in front of his own home and shot him point blank. I guess you are over it and think everybody else should be too? After all, its been 30 years so it's been enough time? Meanwhile, how do we reduce the sentence John was given. Oh wait! We can't. Because he's DEAD! Why don't we let Charles Manson out while we are at it?

So what if he was a celebrity? There is no amount of time that is sufficient when someone loses a loved one to murder famous or not. The pain from the loss of someone you love is hard enough. Add murder to the circumstances and the pain is even more immeasurable and permanent.

    Get your priorities straight.

  54. 54

Re: annamc – I think they ALL should stay in jail if they kill someone. Famous or not. You take a life, your life is taken from you.

  55. 55

Re: angelwolf333 – I think this piece of sh#t should be tracked down and disabled

  56. 56

Don't kill cultural icons. He would have been out of jail 10 years ago otherwise.

  57. 57

well I half agree with some comments here. This dude will be safer in jail because if he ever gets out, a huge horde of fans will want him dead and I remember Paul Mc Cartney said "I will be waiting at the gate". Seriously, this dude should remain in jail, death is too good for him.

And yeah, he gets special treatment because he killed a celebrity. If he had killed any random person, he would be free by now. Its really unfair how justice works. I have seen many cases of ppl being murdered and their killer gets out of jail in a couple of years. Everyone is a father, a husband, a son, I think there shouldn't be any difference but well, you know, an icon is an icon.

RIP John Lennon, we still miss you and keep you in our hearts.

  58. 58

Re: angelwolf333 – you're just ignorant. well as those who don't know much about the beatles. sure enough I was like you once, until I got an education and took a Beatles music class. IT WAS THE BEST ONE EVER!!!!! gawd like being taught the inner depths about Beatles and their history along with music history. FUCK it was sooo good. i've watched their movies and across the universe, trust me, it was more than the superficial idea of the lyrics. paul freaking m wrote hey jude in one car ride to see julian and that became one freaking big hit. they changed america essentially. they were first a rock band then they became a mega pop band. first to come up with a single idea album, rather than the usual covers and random tracks. they brought the feminine touch because being ruled by a queen. they fought political power, religion, etc. and Lennon was freaking awesome. sure he knew and said that some of their tracks were completely stupid, and at many points when they were high. BUT they incorporated complex music (if you take the time to count beats, it's irregular) and they learned over time to be great singers and instrument playing from HARD WORK. i've listen to basically all their songs, and there were some that i thought were stupid, until i learned the history of it. but hey it's your opinion, just don't cut at the man, cut at the music choice. it's not your favorite, ok. now get over it.

  59. 59

This guys should be doing life WITHOUT the possibility fo parole.

  60. 60

Re: BonkerzX3 – killing such a good musician? he's a psychopathic killer. i'm sure the parole board isn't that biased.

  61. 61

If it wasn't John Lennon, I'm pretty sure he'd be released. I bet Yoko is paying the fuzz to keep him in there. She inherited his estate right?
But I do think, if and when he is released, he should be put somewhere private. Beatles fans will go apeshit and try to murder him.

  62. 62

Re: Laury – Gotta agree. NO, I don't think he should be paroled after murdering John Lennon…but then again I don't think ANYONE should be released from prison after murdering someone!

  63. 63

love to see our tax payer dollars going to such a waste of a human… they should just execute him and stop wasting money on parole boards, food, etc…..

  64. 64

For taxman purposes, it would a be great thing if they let this nut job out of the clink. Bc the day of his release he'd be shot dead by someone….therefore no more of our tax money would go to house this poor excuse of a human any longer. INSTANT KARMA YOU COCK!

  65. 65

Imagine there's no parole , It isn't hard to do.

  66. 66

Re: BetterFasterStronger – do you want him to come live with you?

  67. 67

Re: angelwolf333 – He should have the honor of living with you for the rest of his life. 2 losers together 4ever ,or until a stray bullet ends it.

  68. 68

everybody is wondering why this guy has to stay in jail for so long, right??? while i don't think the guy gets any sympathy on the account of who he killed, but this was all premeditated. that is why this gut must spent 20 years. also, its for the sake of his health… do you nt think about the fact that, at the least, no employeer would hire him and he would starve or killed????
don't get me wrong, i think that the guy is a scumbag, just full of contradictions, and that he overplays the whole crazy scenario.id feel much better if he just stayed behong bars!!!!!!!

  69. 69

good John Lennon was a legend and should not of been killed. He should not be let out on patrol ever, to spend the rest of his misreble life in jail getting tourcherd sorry evil thought's on my mind. And sorry for any spelling mistakes.
