Seriously? What's happening with all the pop artists lately, is it that hard to write or WORK WITH PEOPLE that can write you catchy pop song? They have access to all be best songwritters in the world and THIS is the best they could come up with? I want Hooks, GOOD HOOKS, everybody is doing the dance floor thing, its not special… we want originality! We want HER! That, just won't do it for me. Back in the studio girl! Hurry up! Be fierce! hope this means that she won't go back to that ghetto/soca whatever style; God I hated her last album! And I'm European so I love dance music; heard better than this one though, but it's not bad, it's sort of OK;

Really…because when I said dated, I meant it sounded like something from the 90s. This kind of music did not start in 2007.

this song really is so ridiculous. Its so dated, and sounds more of a remix and there is nothing that pops out from it, it sounds like a background music, not the main show. SMH

i like it, it'll grow on me to love it.
The music slamming but the words are just YAWN inspiring. And all the comparisons to Britney are stupid. Britney has never once done anything original. The girl can't sing or even write. She is a product of auto tune and some advertiser's porn dream. Britney is over. Britney should be referred to forever more as FLOPNEY!
Not very new or original, just another generic pop/dance song, but definitely better than anything off Rated R, that's for damn sure. I'm curious to hear the rest of the album. I love me some Rihanna… when she isn't doing that dark/rock shit, that is.

What a pretty girl- that's about it. Her "singing" voice is so nasal it's like she's got a clothes pin attached to her nose closing her nostrils down or something. Is she actually tone deaf? She's really stretched out her appeal/fame though, for being such a terrible singer- that's impressive. Seems to be a hard worker that wants to be famous really bad and you have to give her credit for getting this far. If she's going to stick around and continue to put out music I just wish she would take singing lessons, right?

You know, not *everyone* hated Rated R - it has remained one of my favorite albums this year. This song is good, too - there's enough room/love for all sides of a performer/artist. I think it's awesome that Rihanna can show that she has different sides to her. It makes her more interesting! So, stop dissin' and just continue to love, love, LOVE!

The only good thing about it is that you can still hear she has a great voice. But why?? Nothing wrong with dance music - but make some good one.

Def don't like this. I think I preferred Rated R to this. Like, "Rockstar 101" was a beast of a song. This is…I don't even know. Maybe it'll grow on me once it's on the radio nonstop, but as of now, I wish she went back to doing Good Girl Gone Bad-type songs. I appreciate her trying to take a step forward, but it seems like she can't do it, so she needs to go back to her tried and true method.
I'm going to be disappointed if this is going to be the type of beats on the album. I think it's over processed and I love her voice best clear. I personally adored her Rated R CD. Each song was complex with the beats and had like three or four different change ups in each song. I dont' want her to do techno pop! Noooo.

Rihanna has been, and apparently always will be, a mediocre singer who sings with no charisma and no sense of phrasing. I don't know how people keep gobbling this up. I'm especially confused as to how Perez would celebrate this song, but trash Christina's album. "Not Myself Tonight" blows this song out of the water, and I think NMT is the worst song on her album!
The melody and the words and the way she things it is amazing. But those techno beats are so bad. They should take her voice out of this song and remake the beats

It's ok, but I really liked Rated R! I like that sound for her, it seemed more personal and more like her in a way, not that I know what she's like personally. But this.. We've heard it before! Rated R was better!
Oh no…I love Rihanna (just saw her in concert 2 months ago) but this song is horrible. Someone will definately have to do a good job remixing "only girl" for it to be somewhat decent
