Oprah Winfrey To Receive Kennedy Honor (And Is A Little Indulgent About It!)

This morning, this year's list of Kennedy Honor recipients was announced. Leading the pack is Oprah Winfrey, whose billionaire status is only surpassed by what she has given back to others, on an off her talk show.

That might sound a little bit like brown-nosing, but don't worry, we haven't said anything about her Oprah wouldn't say about herself!

When asked how she felt about the extreme honor, Oprah didn't seem that surprised to be getting it. She told sources:

"When I've done them in the past for people, it has always felt a little bit like being bombarded with a love festival that is about you, and you know that's gotta feel good…I love surprising people, I don't like being surprised. Releasing any kind of control over a show and allowing myself to sit there and be surprised is not going to be easy but I'm willing to do that."

Humble as always, BB!

The other esteemed honorees this year include dancer, choreographer and director Bill T. Jones, country singer-songwriter Merle Haggard, Broadway composer and lyricist Jerry Herman and legendary former Beatles member, Paul McCartney.

Congrats to all!

She was one of a very few on the high profile media mainstream that highlighted and stressed the importance of giving back and paying it forward. I hope she continues this kind of work, because children absorb and integrate what they see and hear. If the what-goes-around-comes-around contributing back to a community that has provided you a good living isn't purposefully woven into the social fabric of society, you will end up with bleak world full of younger generations who know nothing else but looking after number one (themselves only); and to heck with those financially limited seniors, veterans or civilian health crippled, less fortunate souls or those who are experiencing an unexpected downturn due to unforeseen circumstances that may be out of their control. Oprah lit a candle for many people, and deserves to be honored.

And guess who will be right along side of her when she is honored??? If you guessed that GAY BOY Stedman, you'd be wrong. Of course it will be her "BFF" (wink, wink) LESBIAN LOVER, Gayle!

What did she say that was self indulgent. She was saying she's been on the other side of these types of things and while being honored in this way is unfamiliar and a bit uncomfortable to her, being honored feels good. I think you or whoever writes your blog now needs a class in reading comprehension.
